"My Love" (single) on the charts

When are the mid-week charts due? Tomorrow isn't it.

 

They always start giving the data on Tuesday and keep on doing every day until Friday (at least on the charts forum I'm a member of). Girls Aloud seem a sure lock for the number one spot, as it doubles the amount of Pink's "So What." I hope "My Love" makes it into the Top 40.

They had to promote the single in a way, before releasing it!

Definitely, but remember last year, with the amazing promo set up for "Taking Chances" with the X-Factor and everything, and then they decided not to release the physical CD single and it managed a poor number 40 on the chart. Now, they put out the CD single with no promo. It's bizarre.

I think we all expected a bit more of Sony UK on this occasion. I know they dont have any control over where a shop displays Celine's music but if you didnt come onto these boards you would not know Celine had a new single out in the UK this week. Almost zero radio airplay, no adverts, no posters, no video on TV, no promotion of any kind at all. The new single hasn't even been promoted on CelineDion.com. It's hard to imagine right now that Celine used to sell over a million singles in the UK.

I've already bought the My Love single from iTunes, so I won't bother buying the physical CD single (I never do with singles anyway).

 

However, I think I will buy A World To Belive In from HMV Japan cos that looks like a better deal with those new songs like TCAT!

 

 

Let's not get too bogged down with ML already being a flop in the UK. It might do better in the USA, as it got more airplay that just the occasional Radio 2 slot, but who knows?..

 

I'm sure the album will do much better...

Yes, it's very likely it will be her peak position.

 

No, Sony Music Italy isn't doing promo at the moment: they sent the song to the radio stations last Friday, and local radio stations are starting playing it, but no big network yet.

 

The only promo is the one we (Italian fans) are doing: some members bought the song even four times. And we're making banners, spreading them on MySpace, FaceBook and other social networks.
