Is Celine a Christian?

Recommended Posts

yes, but if you change you religious habits, then you are no longer with that religion. Just because you were raised Catholic doesn't mean that you are one now. I was born to a Catholic family, but I, myself, am not Catholic. So as I see it, Celine was raised Catholic but if she's "not-practicing", then to me, she isn't a Catholic.

Well, Celine may not be a "practicing Catholic" per se meaning she may not go to mass faithfully every Sunday, but I do think her attitudes are very Catholic and Christian like. She is not a judgmental person. She accepts everyone for who they are. From what we have seen, Celine cares deeply about her family. Additionally, she is sincere, genuine, humble, and down to earth... She cares about those who are in need. The list goes on and on.

If those are not Christian attitudes, then I do not know what else they would be then...

You don't sound loving, in fact, you sound like you're about to go berserk and shoot anything that moves with your shotgun...I hope you get caught!

anyway, while you're entitle to your opinion, being considerate of others is like the basic common sense of humanity. if you can't comprehend that much, might as well shoot your self in the head and get it over with in case you missed and hit and innocence bystander.

And on what ground are you using to call celine a whore??? or is that your a word in your language that means "queen?" Or "awesome?" cuz if it's not, take that to the land of morons!!

Women are not the weaker sex! you try to carry a whooping whale in your stomach for friggin' nine months and see how you would react to someone's insult! Not to mention, putting up with the craps from people like you!! And voting?? HA!! that's the least thing US women are going to achieve before we're done with!! LOOK AT SARAH FREAKING PALIN AND HILLARY CLINTON!! Let see your uggg-ly behind up on that stand and running for president! Imbecile!

People I am so sorry. I DID NOT write this! I leave my account logged in all the time as i am the only one who uses my computer. However my friend just told me that she left a comment under my name. Basically ive just seen it and im horrified at what she wrote. I dont know if she was drunk or just deranged, but she knows how much i love Celine and so i cant understand her. Please know that they are not my opinions on any level. I can only apologize on her behalf.

I've been wondering about this for a while, but i figured that if she was a christian then she wouldnt be practising her faith, or be open about it - its a very personal thing!

Im a practising christian and although im officially church of england/anglican, i hate denominations and the term "religion" - it sounds like an institution which puts so many people off and just causes more harm than good in the church which is already in a pretty desparate state. there should be unity within the people of Christ!!

oh well, sorry bout that little rant!! :blushing1:

good question stu!

I agree with what you say about denominations and the term "religion". Religion has nothing to do with spirituality. Serial killers kill "religiously" until they are caught. Serial rapist rape religiously. Obsessive-compulsive people do whatever their "thing" is religiously. It only means they do those things on a continual basis. I believe Celine is a spiritual person and she " religiously practices" (I can't think of the right word to put here but I think you know what I mean) her spirituality and her faith. It shows up in her charity work and how she deals with the people she encounters. I have heard her make reference to God giving her her talent and she thanks Him for that. She has stated that she is blessed to be where she is. She also understands that God works through people. People equate religion with doctrine and it shouldn't be so because that creates division. Labeling ourselves with denominations only limits because once a person says what denomination he/she is with, "ears" automatically shut down to what is about to be presented. There IS unity in Christ.

I do too...when it all comes down to it, it has NOTHING to do with what denomination you belong to, but your relationship with God or whoever you believe in, which is all the individuals choice and no one elses business :)

Is she singing about God on "Call The Man"?

It's been debated, but I have always thought so :)

Posted

the first word in "New Dawn" is Jesus...so how can it be about feminism?

It's a great song it's actually my favorite on the album... I remember in the TV special Behind Closed Doors when she met some gospel choir she started singing "Ohh happy daaaay " ...it's not so much about religion per se...but about religious music i.e. gospel which I adore...it's soooo powerful...

An angel was looking through,

It was you,

Yeah you...it's

i think so - if you listen to the lyrics, i dont think there is anyone else she could be singing about - but then again thats just my personal opinion as a christian!!! there are probably loads of interpretations!!

I agree call the man is about God. Celine seems like she is a believer. She has stated in some interviews about Pray, and I even seen a youtube video where she talks about God. It may be hard for her to practice her beliefs while out on tour. Some people that I know believe that she does not believe in God, because she doesn't sing all about Him all the time. I said " she can have a relationship with God and not sing Christian songs". People are so fast to judge her. All of her fans know how genuine and real she is. Celine has not come across as a person who thinks she is better then anyone. How many famous singers invite a young girl like Charice to sing with them and share the stage?? That just shows how real she is. We all can tell Celine loves to sing and also that people are more important to her then music.

In my opinion, Celine Believes a lot in God. In lot of her songs there are references to the Lord including "New Dawn" and "Call the Man". I feel that Celine is a really great Christian (catholic) with the way she acts. She has a lot of LOVE towards others. She does a lot of charities, she is filled with such a pure heart and generosity that for me she is a symbol of how a real catholic should act. I think that with this way, i believe that she is a Practising catholic. There are people who go to church even daily but they don't act the way a catholic should. I know many people whom Celline has brought them near God through her singing and through her LOVE towards others.

But guys, i was wondering how do you know that she's not a practicing catholic? (i.e how do you know that she doesn't go to church?) Did she ever say that she doesn't go to church? Because i have never heard that in any of the interviews. All i know is that in some of the interviews she definelty makes reference to God and how blessed she feels.

That's my opinion :)

To be catholic doesn’t mean to go to church every Sunday

To be catholic is live every day according with the values of the religion and Jesus

In my opinion Celine follows the Christianity in her own life in her own way

I think the second respose answers the first one quite nicely. Just because someone doesn't go to church regularly to be considered "practicing" doesn't erase their beliefs or values. It doesn't change how they choose to take those and live their everyday life. There are plenty of people who show up to church every sunday but don't act very catholic in word and deed. If Celine married in the church and baptised her son there, there is obviously some affiliation that you cannot deny just becasue she's not in church every sunday.

On another note, I find A New Dawn very powerful and uplifting, definite spiritual overtones

exactly! church isnt the building you go into on a sunday morning/evening; its the people who meet together to worship Jesus that are the church. My church used to meet in a school hall - that doesnt make us any less a "church"! its all about Jesus and people and relationships and the way you live your life, not about buildings and rules and regulations. And I'm not being all liberal and weird here - not even Jesus abided by rules and regulations - he broke lots of them when he was on earth!! Just because Celine doesnt turn up to the same building every Sunday morning, doesnt make her a "bad" Christian or a non-believer!

(good topic this - i love discussions!!)

I think what's weird is that Celine, unlike many other artists such as Mariah or MJB, never thanks God in award speeches or in the thank you notes at the end of each albums. So is she really a pure christian or is she atheism?
Posted

She has said that she believes in God, and she mentions Him from time to time. So she's not an atheist. She has said that one day if she has the time, she would like to go to church every week. She admires people who practice their faith diligently.

I don't know why she doesn't thank him in her speeches. Maybe she forgets? Or never thought to?

I think everyone is different in their faith. Some people live it, every single day of their lives and focus on nothing but God. They're really devout Christians. Then there are people who believe, but it's not the centre of their lives so much.
