Bralo20 Posted August 7, 2008 at 11:59 AM Posted August 7, 2008 at 11:59 AM Since there is no topic yet over the vehicles of the forummembers I thought it would be nice to add such a topic. I wonder with what kind of cars everyone is driving arround. I will start with my own (company) car: Make: FordType: Focus 5-doorsVersion: SportEngine: 1.8 liter turbo charged common rail dieselHP: 85kW / 115HPTorque: 300NmTransmission: 5 speed, manualTopspeed Official / GPS: 196km/h / 205km/h (122mph / 127mph)Year of built: 2007, October Above the "Sport" edition (which is already quite nice) it has some options: - Xenon headlights- Sony/Ford Radio CD/MP3 with 8 speakers- ESP (Electronic Stability Program) Until this day my car has about 31.000km (19.000 miles) on the odometer. CelineRules! Except for the engine I'm pretty pleased with the car, and on the other hand... a free car, who am I to complain Quote

I drove 3 of them during a couple of weeks (advantage of being a fleetmanager, you get on a regular base cars from the different brands to drive with it ). If I wasn't a Ford fan it would have been a Opel... But with the 1.9 diesel. We have one in our fleet and it is powered with the 100HP 1.7 diesel which is also quite a decent engine. The 1.3 diesel however is terrible (you have to be above 2.000rpm to get some power). We never bought it and will never do so, since we buy the cars (instead of leasing) and do maintenance ourself it's very important that we have a decent engine were no problem will occure. For this reason we don't allow small diesel engines in our fleet. But then again, as long it's a free car there are few reasons to complain Quote ...

CelineRules! Posted August 7, 2008 at 12:29 PM Posted August 7, 2008 at 12:29 PM You both have amazing cars! Well my very first car was an Opel Corsa from '87. It cost me a whopin' 250 Euro. It died on me in 2002 after I drove it for two years. After that I had a Rover 214. I loved that one. I was kinda sad I had to give it up for the company car, isn't that weird? I sold it to my brother, so at least it's still in the family... Quote

It died on me in 2002 after I drove it for two years. After that I had a Rover 214. I loved that one. I was kinda sad I had to give it up for the company car, isn't that weird? I sold it to my brother, so at least it's still in the family... My first car was actually a 1985 Ford Sierra 1.8 petrol. I learned to drive with it back in 2001. Bought it for about 800 EUR and stayed with me until 2003, then I gave this car to our local fire department to practise with. My second car was a 1992 Chrysler Saratoga 3.0V6 automatic which I bought for about 2.500 EUR. It was an amazing car... Loved to drive with that car I drove only one year with it when I gave it -again- to our local fire department to practise on. Then I received my first company car, a Ford Focus Clipper 1.8TDCI which lasted until last year. I had allready ordered a new one (the one I'm driving now with) since I reached about 165.000km on the odometer but in the last weeks it crashed due a lorry which hit me. The Chrysler before cutting up: http://www.first-response.be/mods/stijn/focusbralo/chrysler001.jpg The Chrysler after the practise was over: http://www.first-response.be/mods/stijn/focusbralo/chrysler004.jpg And my previous company car, a 2003 Ford Focus Clipper: http://www.first-response.be/mods/stijn/focusbralo/focusbralo3.jpg Edited August 7, 2008 at 12:54 PM by Bralo20 Quote ...

reamary Posted August 7, 2008 at 06:54 PM Posted August 7, 2008 at 06:54 PM If I could, I would be driving a red Peugeot 206! That's my favourite kind. But I don't have a car of any sort of my own. I regularly drive though, with my parents' cars, a Renault Scenic and a small but cute and efficient Renault Twingo, they're both red too. Bralo20 Posted August 7, 2008 at 09:22 PM Author Posted August 7, 2008 at 09:22 PM (edited) I love European cars. My current car is an Audi A4 That's a nice car! I certainly would love also European cars when I would live in the USA... European cars are cheap in the USA... When I was in the USA back in 2006 I visited a Mercedes dealer to get a quotation for a Mercedes E-class. I almost fainted... The exact same car did cost in Belgium about 20.000 USD more than in the USA... Although the cars are build in Germany, even for the USA... And nearly every make is much cheaper in the USA then in Europe... A couple of months ago I asked for a quotation for 10 Mercedes/Dodge/Freightliner Sprinter vans at several dealers in the USA. Since they sell also a diesel version in the USA it's rather easy to compare. Even with taxes, shipping, insurance the USA Sprinters were about 8.000 USD per piece cheaper in the USA than when I bought them here. Unfortunately it wasn't possible to get a manual gear in the Sprinter in the US version... To bad, otherwise I would have probably ordered the vans in the US and had then shipped back to Europe. It hard to understand sometimes how it's possible. Edited August 7, 2008 at 09:23 PM by Bralo20 Quote ...

That is why the price is usually cheaper. However, it is not dirt cheap since it is a luxury brand. Quote
