In my opinion, Contre Nature is one of Celines best music videos, if not the very best (for me personally). It's esthetics and entire concept are so unique and beautiful. They remastered the music video, but it still looks very low quality. It doesn't come close to HD resolution.

Because the video was shoot in 2003, while Celine was having short hair, while Contre Nature was shoot after her new long brown hair in 2004

It wasn't the short hair that made her look bad. The short hair looked great in OH and TLDH. It was the black and white, no make up, washed up look that made her look like a very ill person. Sorry but that video should have never been released!

The look on OH works very well, but her short blood hair was a mess

 

It works well with a good make up,

 

On EJTE the make up is very simple, it barely can be noticed on the video

It was a bad bad video,

I love it here with the tees and jeans, the whole look is fantastic (to me) even the golf pics when it was really short... but absolutely hate it with the dresses and make up (OH, Colosseum Special, Billboard, etc)

She didn't look feminine at all. She looked like a little boy. It was no longer the classy, elegant Celine Dion from the 90s who stunned everybody with her beautiful voice. This short blond hair look was a complete disaster, and using it for an album cover and in official music videos was the worst decision they've ever made. It's like she was ridiculing herself. In short, as her husband he loved her and wanted her to be happy. As her manager he knows image is a big part of showbiz like it or not and he knew she looked bad.

I agree that it wasn't a good look.

 

But I like that Celine took power into her own hands and did what she wanted. It was clear in the A New Day... documentary that she wasn't pleased to have to get extensions and then grow her hair back out and dye it brown shortly after she cut it off.

 

She's clearly had issues where Celine the person was in combat with her professional image. Just like Britney was and so many others.

I liked the short, blonde hair 50% of the time. (It all depended on the styling.) Brunette would have been safer, but she was feeling BOLD at that time and I 100% support her taking risks. Sad so many fans rejected her trying to express herself that way!

I think the shorter haircut adds a little bit of intrigue to Celine’s look/career over the years. It would’ve been boring if she played it safe all the time. Moments of risk stand out.

 

And she had a lot of hair styles in the 80s and 90s too.

I don't mind her with short hair. I just never liked her with blond hair. I feel it washes her out. The platinum blond in 2003 to me was bad, she could have had the same short hair and just with her lighter brown from the late 90s and it would have worked.

I actually disagree. I think she looks very natural in EJTE and I like the hair style, same for TLDH. It is the B&W approach that does not work IMO.

 

However, in OH she looked pretty bad due to the coloured lipstick and make up.

I have to agree with this.

 

Funny story, back in 2005 when I was really getting into her music, I visited a local CD store in my hometown looking for her albums. I remember One Heart, Miracle, These Are Special Times, and Au Coeur Du Stade were available in the shop. Also 1F&4T. Upon looking at the album cover, I did not realise this was a Celine record. I therefore did what I had to do! I took the album and put it in another self! I thought it was an insult that a boy band's album would be featured in the Celine Dion section of the store. Yes, let's not comment on the fact that her name is written in capital red in the album cover - observation is not a key skill of mine apparently.
