Why is there no DVD of the Milliennium Concert?

This is my favorite concert from Celine ever. I know she didn't want the DVD to be released because she feels her vocals weren't at top form or something(she was recovering from a cold), but I feel her vocals were just fine. Her vocals here were certainly better than some of her vocals from Vegas(don't get me started on Because You Loved Me or A New Day Has Come.....). But the real reason I love this concert the most is because of the tracklisting. It was incredibly diverse and truly represented Celine's career. Thankfully, it only had one of her "big hits"(My Heart Will Go On), and they got it done and over with in the very beginning. It wasn't like her concerts nowadays where she goes through lipping her big hits, then finally gets to some new material, and doesn't sing any lesser known tracks. She also performed songs here I wouldn't have expected, like Unison and Incognito, which were nice inclusions. I don't think she'll ever top this concert, unless sh ehas another one like it in 2009 and does a setlist like it(but not the exact same one, of course ).

Yeah, it was weird that she lipped LIVE, but from what we've all heard about the days surrounding the concert... she was ill just a few days before and wasn't pleased with her vocal performances that night, so maybe they through LIVE in at the last moment to give her a little break during the show?

It was a nice concert, with a good set-list... a little more diverse than what we're used to, but it was a show that was meant to encompass her career up to that point, especially for the French stuff, which is why we were treated to some great numbers in native tongue, and an emotional finale with her first song.

I would however, venture to agree with others who've commented on what she sounded like that night. I have the entire show on VHS tape from when it aired on TV in Canada on 12/31/1999, and it's fun to watch and re-live such a strong moment in her career. I do think, however, some of the songs sounded a bit strained and nasal...

Not the worst we've heard, but... well, just my opinion.

that being said, she also gave some of my all time favorite performances during that show, too.

I am in love with her performance here. You can tell that she's feeding off of Bruno and his drive to give a great performance, and she really steps up to the plate.

There also seemed to be something weird with the lighting. I have yet to see any video footage from the show that appears clear. There's a haze during the entire show to me... just fuzzy or cloudy looking to me. Dunno...

Basically, it was a good show. Vocally, kinda iffy that night. Different English songs would have been cool. Visually, it hurts my eyes to watch, especially compared to other concerts. I also doubt we'll get it as a DVD anytime soon, though it would be nice to add it to our collections!

:hmm: Is it me or i heard Celine saying that some threats happened during the show? They had some security problems going on and that she didn't feel safe at all during the entire show....

I think she was speaking french when she mentioned this. Anyone else heard something like this?

If what i recall is true, maybe thats the reason why they are not releasing it. Its just bad memories for the team.

But to answer the question YES i would love to have a DVD of this concert. The duet with Bruno was pure happiness LOL :clap:

They had security problems that night. A crazy fan tried to kill her because he didn't want her to retire. Luckily, Celine's bodyguards were there to stop him. That might be the reason why the Millenium Concert was and will never be released on DVD.

Anyway, has anyone had luck putting the full concert onto DVD? I'd love too, but it is over 2 hours and DVDs can only fit two hours...

A stunning device? WTF. Some fan. I'm sure if it ended up being used it would have been the highest note of the night, lol!

Seriously though, have you ever thought of how bad security is at some of these places...last concert I went to I wasn't padded or anything....same thing for the last NASCAR race...it would be so easy to walk in with a weapon. It's very disappointing.

I was actually there that evening (I can be seen several times during the concert as I was on the floor!). It was an amazing evening and one I shall remember as long as I live. She sang a chorus of Sil Suffisaint D'Amer (pardon my spelling, I am from America) to me. It was one of the most amazing moments of my life!

The Millennium Concert/ La Derniére de Céline is also my favorite concert from her. I love the variety of kind of songs that were sung on that night, plus the fact that only one was playback. The unique thing that would have made this concert 100% perfect... but I don't blame her for this, and i really couldn't complaint about this, cause everything else would make balance. That night would have been the best of my life only if I would have been a fan in those days and could actually have attended the concert. I would have given tons of money to be there, but as I said I wasn't a fan and what's more, I was only 11! :lol:

With regards to any false notes during SSD or wrong lyrics, I'm sure they could easily correct them for a DVD release. I mean, look at how many changes were made to the Las Vegas DVD - RDMH sounds totally different to bootlegs. If they could do this, then I think it would a great concert to have on DVD! I just LOVE Unison! :clap:

a friend gave me this dvd like a year ago n i remember i put away in a box cuz i was moving n i never got it out n i saw this topic yesterday n i got like a flash back so i start serching for the dvd until i found it .... I just finish watching it is a great concert i luv it n its a real waste that they havent release it in an original dvd ... Any way now this dvd is on my top dvds from celine dion !!!! N its funny that im a fan since i heard her song all by m self when i was like 8 or 9 yeara old now im 20 n still a big fan n 10 years from this concert i finally watch it !!!

that would be the most stupid reason! Plus céline didn't knew about it during the concert, she only found out later... the most logical reason is that, back then, she wanted quality, and that night, due to illness, she couldn't deliver so well, so that's why she wouldn't want to release the concert...

yeah with the techniques nowadays the little flaw can be autotuned if they wanted to!! (and if we even wanted to! common, she's only human! :doh: )

yep that's totally true!! Moleque, you seem to forget that Céline sang TFTEISYF and ATW (solo) live during the whole LTAL tour, even before she recorded the studio tracks
