Why is there no DVD of the Milliennium Concert?

Hi,

 

I hope the question was not already posted 15 times but I just wanted to know why the Millenium Concer wasn't released on DVD.

I just listened to Unison and it sounds fantastic. What was the complete setlist of the concert?

It was rumoured that Céline didn't like the way she sounded (she had a bad cold days before the show) and that's why it never was released on DVD, now if you ask me she sounded a 1000 times better then on the AND..LIL cd!

 

I was actually thinking about this concert yesterday! Can't we make a petition to ask for it's release? it's the true piece of history and the set list was awesome!! Ce n'était un rêve at the end was so beautiful! Céline made the circle round when she sang that song!

Well I can see what she means, cos MHWGO at the end sounded slightly strained, so did ABM from what i've seen on YouTube. But I also think they should release the DVD!

I think it was because some of the music issues aren't repairable.

 

She messed up on the lyrics of "That's The Way It Is" and "D'amour ou d'aimitié".

Some notes were flubbed, but those could have been fixed----but not forgetting the lyrics and pasting something else in.

 

It was a magical concert, though.

I have the millenium concert, and Memphis on DVD. I just burned the videos onto a Memorex DVD and it worked on my DVD Player.

 

 

But yes, an official DVD would be nice as well..

Yeah...LAP is on DVD, but the other two aren't, and I want those too! Hurry up and release people! I bet Celine has everything she's ever done at home on DVD's...can you imagine rumaging through her house to find all the rare things and keep them for your very own!

I'm not being a critic about it. My point was that Celine is about perfection, and she (unlike we) wouldn't want this eternalized on DVD.

 

You're right, if it was a 2-night concert I'M SURE we'd have it on DVD. She could have even done a sound check and re-recorded these parts (like what Barbra Streisand does for her DVDs).

she did do a soundcheck though! footage of that was shown in MTV diary! but I guess that weren't full songs.

 

but yeah well given the AND...LIL cd, all I can say is: Céline listen to that cd, then listen to good quality recordings of the Millennium show... I think she'll find that La denière de Céline was closer to perfection then the AND cd

As I remember the reason why it was sometimes false: Celine couldn't wait for her leave for her hiatus of 2 years.. She wanted to start a family...

Maybe if there WAS a petition she'd see that we don't care if she flubbed a note or a lyric here and there, because we know she can't be 110% perfect for every single concert, ESPECIALLY one of this emotional magnitude.

As has already been mentioned, Céline was not happy with the way she sounded at this concert. Personally, a false note here or there does not upset me at all and I think this show would work great as a DVD.

 

And I agree with Davey that Celine sounded much better at the Millenium Concert than she does on the recordings of Live in Las Vegas. At Vegas, a tough regime and hostile climate had very audible negative effects on Céline's voice. But any sound problems at the Millenium were a result of technical difficulties and not the fault of Céline. Of course, at the start of S'il suffisait d'aimer, she has trouble finding the right key but that is because she cannot hear herself! There is quite obviously a problem with her earpiece but as soon as it is rectified, she finds her key and more than makes up for any false start!

 

If you watch the concert, you can see in Céline's face that she is unhappy with the sound and she is constantly gesturing to technicians. At one point, her sound pack falls off and you see a technician running after her to sort it out. Yet, despite all this, Céline gives one of her finest performances. Great to get MHWGO out of the way as the first song and It was so refreshing to hear her sing earlier songs (even if I'm not a fan of the Unison/Incognito era) along with new songs like The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and That's The Way It Is. The main problem, I guess, was that the show was such a huge project, with many guests, an exhaustive setlist and a tight schedule.

 

The highlight of the whole concert for me, though, has to be her duet with Bruno Pelletier, singing my fave song Le blues du businessman.

Even better than that, though, has to be the incredible finale with probably the best performances of All By Myself, Pour que tu m'aimes encore and Ce n'était qu'un reve I have ever heard or seen!! I love these last few songs!!

This is my favorite concert from Celine ever. I know she didn't want the DVD to be released because she feels her vocals weren't at top form or something(she was recovering from a cold), but I feel her vocals were just fine. Her vocals here were certainly better than some of her vocals from Vegas(don't get me started on Because You Loved Me or A New Day Has Come.....). But the real reason I love this concert the most is because of the tracklisting. It was incredibly diverse and truly represented Celine's career. Thankfully, it only had one of her "big hits"(My Heart Will Go On), and they got it done and over with in the very beginning. It wasn't like her concerts nowadays where she goes through lipping her big hits, then finally gets to some new material, and doesn't sing any lesser known tracks. She also performed songs here I wouldn't have expected, like Unison and Incognito, which were nice inclusions. I don't think she'll ever top this concert, unless sh ehas another one like it in 2009 and does a setlist like it(but not the exact same one, of course ).

I really think it's a shame this concert isn't for sale. I didn't know about till I arrived home in the wee early hours of the morging that new year. I was very sick at that moment too. A bad cough and I had just taken my meds and wanted it to go down a bit before I going to bed. I was zapping and came across the concert. I missed the beginning, but I gathered all the bits of video I could find and I still got to tap the rest of it. I managed to get a fair bit of it, but it's spead over a range of 30 odd videos. It's be great to see the whole thing in one go. I thought she sounded awesom, basically, like always then!

All the nasal thing (dunno if i can call it the beginning of the vocal decline) in her voice started that night.

To be honest, my heart will go on was almost like a lullaby...

 

i dunno... i really love that concert and love Celine's hot look in 1999's, but i can't find any powerful performace like in the (falling into you TV Special)

 

and YES... still it's better than the a new day DVD
