MTJ Posted March 10, 2009 at 12:27 AM Posted March 10, 2009 at 12:27 AM I was reading the Sartorialist today and commented on how popular the Balmain jacket is. I think we can consider it a future trend. Quote
pascaladolphejean Posted March 10, 2009 at 05:50 AM Posted March 10, 2009 at 05:50 AM (edited) I was reading the New York Times Fashion Section the other day, and I ran across two ominous Balmain references: Still, what tripped me up were the moments that revealed his impetuousness, like glittering minidresses that came too close on the heels of those now ubiquitous Balmain-influenced styles, and more evening dresses with cutaway fronts and endless trains, similar to those from Mr. Theysken's poorly received spring collection. And his fall 2009 show presented the curious spectacle of people almost old enough to qualify for a half-price fare on the subway (Anna Wintour turns 60 this year) watching people well below the legal drinking age parade around in a type of glitter rags whose hooker glamour may charm the latter but which the former would probably prefer to forget they ever owned. But as she already lived at the time these ugly shoulderpads were "in" ... maybe she has in her memory how ugly they were and that they are really not designed to make a woman (more) beautiful!!!! Natalie Cole or Celine DionEmailWritten by fashioncritic on Dec-20-07 12:58am From: redcarpetfashionawards.blogspot.com Singer Natalie Cole first wore this red plunge-neck Zac Posen Spring 2007 gown with a large pink bow to the Grammy Awards in February. She accessorized with a silver chain and carried a silver clutch. Celine Dion also wore the same dress to her Vegas Final Show Party at Pure nightclub last week. She also wore a silver chain and added a gold bracelet. Quote

MTJ Posted March 10, 2009 at 09:17 PM Posted March 10, 2009 at 09:17 PM I didn't mind most of the shoulder pads or designs of the '80s, what I did mind were the horrible fabrics. At least now the designs are made in natural materials like silk and leather. Also, the colors aren't as extreme as in the '80s. Intense design and color is too much for me. But now I think there's a calmer good mixture of the two. Quote
kennedy323 Posted March 11, 2009 at 03:53 AM Posted March 11, 2009 at 03:53 AM Hi All, Does anyone know the label of the grey dress that Celine wears to and from the show in her A New Day dvd in the behind the scenes footage. It's a sleeveless grey dress with an open back and a balloon hem. She wears it with the leggings and it looks hot hot hot!! Quote
