MartinMunich Posted June 1, 2008 at 10:52 AM Posted June 1, 2008 at 10:52 AM Hi everyone, I think the stage she used in Dublin (which will probably be the "official" outdoor stage) is a slap in the face of people who payed 200 EUR - so CHEAP!!!! If you look at the Croke Park pics you see all the construction stuff on stage...terrible. I am so dissappointed. She should spend some time and go to a Kylie concert to see what a stage should look like. I hope she gets the bad reviews she deserves for delivering such bad qualitity. Quote
destin139 Posted June 1, 2008 at 11:55 AM Posted June 1, 2008 at 11:55 AM ok... but thats probs just your opinion. i didnt go but i saw the photos and it looked really cool!and you should never wish bad reviews on anyone, thats just mean...people went to see the show to hear celine sing, not analyse the construction of the stage. when i sawe her in london i couldnt have cared less if she's turned up standing on a wooden box in her pyjamas, her voice is what i went to see/hear - the rest was a lovely added bonus!! Teodora Posted June 1, 2008 at 12:15 PM Posted June 1, 2008 at 12:15 PM (edited) I'm sorry, but you sound really, really silly (and I use this word not to be harsh). You pay the money to see/hear her sing, not to see a damn stage. For all I care, they could put her up on a chair, like her brothers used to do when she was a kid, and I wouldn't care less. I want to see/hear her sing, I don't give a damn about the stage. The stage is just a plus, it's not what I - and I think any real fan - pays for. Kylie needs a mindblowing stage, cause she can't sing if her life depended on it! There, you do pay to see the stage, cause there's nothing else. Edited June 1, 2008 at 12:16 PM by Teodora Quote

deccyf Posted June 1, 2008 at 01:42 PM Posted June 1, 2008 at 01:42 PM Westlife are playing Croke Park tonight which probably explains the stage for Friday's gig - her equipment would have to be moved and Westlifes taken in practically in a day using the same stage structure! I'm not aware she got bad reviews for the gig here. Quote
CDI Posted June 1, 2008 at 03:17 PM Posted June 1, 2008 at 03:17 PM I have to admit in a sense, the concert was excellent but when you pay good money they should use the proper stage that everyone else see's , its not really fair, lucky that had big screens and it was a MASSIVE stage but it was very basic!, even if they had have had a bit comong out into the crowd for her to come out on it would have made all the difference, she seemed very restricted on it. Chula Posted June 1, 2008 at 04:25 PM Posted June 1, 2008 at 04:25 PM I don't understand why they didn't use the in-the-round stage. The venue is huge and Ireland's technology can support logistics requirements. This case is Poland and Czech as well. Quote
Dionesque Posted June 1, 2008 at 04:46 PM Posted June 1, 2008 at 04:46 PM In Poland there will be a stage similair to Dublin, it won't be the in-round-stage there either. celinestar Posted June 1, 2008 at 05:20 PM Posted June 1, 2008 at 05:20 PM (edited) I agree with everyone who said they just want to hear her sing! The stage at one end may not have been as good as in he round but to get a bad review for that would be unfair. Celine could stand there and sing the phone book and i'd still be impressed! The two concerts i saw in London and Birmingham were amazing and yes i did have a brilliant view so i can understand it might be annoying if the view was not so good, but Celine never deserves a bad review for that! I Surrender Posted June 1, 2008 at 06:08 PM Posted June 1, 2008 at 06:08 PM I doubt it its up to Celine to decide which stage will be used. MartinMunich Posted June 1, 2008 at 06:26 PM Author Posted June 1, 2008 at 06:26 PM you may call me silly or whatever words you used above - i still think this stage is a JOKE! nothing but a joke. you can see the raw steel construction, covered with plastic sheets. terrible. tasteless. not appropriate. cheap. respectless towards her fans. when she toured with "lets talk about love" back in 99 she played on a gorgeous stage - also the outdoor venues.i don´t know what motivates her or her management to go for such solutions.... people payed a fortune to see a show that is appropriate for an international star as celine is. every stupid rockfestival has a better stage. a cheap tasteless joke. CDI Posted June 1, 2008 at 06:43 PM Posted June 1, 2008 at 06:43 PM (edited) I think everyone needs to calm down lol... I think what Martin is getting at is, she had a stage specially made for the tour, this specific date is part of the tour and the tickets were higher than what you'd usually pay here and we didn't get the full package... everything combined MAKES the tour what it is, I cannot for one second diss her performance but he has a point about the stage, it wasn't anything special and anyone who got to see the proper official stage got a bit of an advantage over everyone who didn't, so in that sense it was unfair especially for anyone who travelled to see this... the only thing that impressed me about it was its size. BUT I do agree its not her fault, its both her promoters and managements fault and she doesn't deserve bad reviews because it was amazing. zanif Posted June 1, 2008 at 07:36 PM Posted June 1, 2008 at 07:36 PM I agree with everyone that watching Celine performs is more important than what the stage looks like but I think Martin has every right to be angry. It is an expensive ticket and since its in Dublin, as a fan I would love if Celine performs on a center stage like MOST of her European leg tour. However, to say that she should deserve a bad review, is not right. Just my 2 cents. Quote

dirrtydavid Posted June 2, 2008 at 01:32 AM Posted June 2, 2008 at 01:32 AM (edited) I can understand what martin is saying, as i said in the dublin thread, for paying 250 euros for 2 premium seating tickets, i should not have had to rely on the screens to see in detail what was happening on stage. I couldn't see what her entrances, couldn't see the band. I see no reason why she couldn't have had a cat walk or 2 at either side. One of the things i hate about coming on dedicated celebrity forums such as this one is the comments like "Kylie needs a mindblowing stage because she can't sing". Kylie can sing, she is a very capable singer. Die-hard fans of people like Celine, Mariah, Whitney etc immediately write off people like Kylie just because they can't hammer a song home. At least Kylie's mindblowing stage justifies her prices. I wouldn't again pay 250 euros just to hear Celine sing, it's her/her company blatantly taking the piss. stevethefan Posted June 2, 2008 at 01:56 AM Posted June 2, 2008 at 01:56 AM Wow! I think you'd have a better view of the planets aligning than to see Celine from those seats! But seriously, there's always a compromise that has to be made when doing these big tours with any big act or group. They obviously want as many people to be able to go to the concert(s) in each city which usually means a big venue which means a lot of the audience will be far away. Of course now most of these shows have the big screens to help out with the viewing, but you still want to be able to see the artist in person, not just on a tv screen. Quote
