beautyroses Posted May 20, 2008 at 03:36 PM Posted May 20, 2008 at 03:36 PM I love A new day has come and one heart I love d'elles too and I hate Unison,Celine looks scared in that photo Quote http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac137/Venus_1982/new1.jpgAngel of My World[/i]
minolli Posted May 20, 2008 at 08:52 PM Posted May 20, 2008 at 08:52 PM Because I'm interested in Graphic Design, I tend to spend a lot of time poring over album artwork, so I love this topic! I would have to say that my favorite is probably "Falling Into You." I truly love the photography and the design itself is unique and fresh. I think the artwork complements the music quite well; to me, it feels dramatic and light at the same time - a lot of the photos are chic and elegant, which, I think represents songs like "It's All Coming Back To Me Now," "All By Myself," "Call The Man," etc. At the same time, its kind of unusual (the booklet is read vertically instead of horizontally), and there are all the various orientations and sizes of the numbering, and the light colors used throughout, which I think captures the fun nature of songs like "Make You Happy," "Declaration of Love," Your Light," etc. It might just be that this is the album that made me love Celine's music, but I really think the artwork here is great. "Live a Paris" is great because its kind of rough, with a kind of old-style aged effect, yet still beautiful and classy - like seeing a live show, which is not always the most technically perfect, but still wonderful to experience. "D'eux" is lovely because it is quite simple, but there is a lot of artistry and drama in the artwork that reflects the artistry and intensity of the music. All of the colors are rather dark and muted, and the photos are simple, but there is a lot of beauty in that - it feels very intimate, like the songs. "1 Fille & 4 Types" is cool because its got a rough, "rock and roll" feeling that emulates the acoustic feeling of the music. Its quirky and sort of "grungy" and the photos and design look the way the music sounds - its not super-polished; instead, its rough and unlike anything else Celine has done. I also quite like the design of "Taking Chances." It feels very clean and modern - going along with the idea of Celine moving away from so many flowery ballads, to having more of an edge. It's simple and straightforward, yet it still has an attitude, which is conveyed through the great photos. I think the photography in D'elles is great too, and on the whole, the packaging is lovely. I only have the digipak version, so, I am just referring to the booklet with the lyrics in that, but it feels like they were going too many directions. There are the illustrations of the authors, and the fancy script used for the song titles, the ink and pen, the feathers, the notes from Celine - I think these are all really nice things, but perhaps theres a bit too much of it all; it feels a bit too cluttered to me. Sorry this post was so long! I love the way album art can become a visual representation of music; it's something that I am tremendously interested in, so I love to analyze and talk about it, especially when its Celine's! 2 Quote http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lsg43qJH1b1qa4phqo1_400.jpg

lowell22 Posted December 19, 2017 at 09:54 AM Posted December 19, 2017 at 09:54 AM My favorite is Falling Into You coz wow! Every page has a photo, like who does that?! And those numbers, yaaaas!!I was a little disappointed after I found out that most of it wasn't an original concept. It was inspired by (or copied from) Gloria Estefan's Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me album from 1994. Of course, the great Nancy Donald was also behind that album's art direction so I guess she recycled the idea. My next low-key fave would be TAST. The design on the disc though was from LTAL's template, grrr! I pretty much like every albums' layout up until D'elles. Everything that followed was a big meh for me. Quote

ryba Posted December 19, 2017 at 06:51 PM Posted December 19, 2017 at 06:51 PM (edited) I really love the entire One Heart artwork, the font, the colours, the design and the cover. It really fits the songs. One of the best, if not the best artwork for me. Very natural, cool and so modern, even now in 2017! Love the cover and the back with her next to the piano and the list of songs I also like ANDHC a lot! The cover and the pictures in the booklet take you on a musical journey! Not a big fan of TC and Delles though. Don’t get me wrong, these are quality pictures, but it’s all just so staged. Not my cup of tea. Edited December 19, 2017 at 06:59 PM by ryba 1 Quote

WCD199317 Posted July 14, 2018 at 03:03 AM Posted July 14, 2018 at 03:03 AM My favorites cover: The Colour of My Love: not just the sensual look and short hair of Céine, but also the style in the cover, very contemporary and the style represent very well Céline. A perfect cover to attire a more young public (not like the self-titled album, represent a very old public in the cover). Encore un soir: A very good cover, represent the new life of Céline after the death of his husband. D'elles: I Love every single pictures of this album, the cover, the pictures inside the book. A masterpiece. 3 Quote
