This thread is a very creative one and it shows the reality what's been happening in fact. Even though we may deny that both Celine and Rene aren't into all this, but we should always remember that Celine chose to do this i.e., singing... and if she still wants to do it, she should be devoted. As in the Recordings Sessions of TCH (and mnay other interviews), Celine herself said that she wants to keep on singing now more than before not because she has to but because she wants to. If this is her way, then I'd reckon she stop doing it professionally and keep the singing for all her family members (She can keep singing then even, can't she?)

 

Yes, Sony (and Celine's promotion and publicity team) is to blame for most of it but even Celine and Rene are part of it. C'mon, no matter how much she says that she's not part of anything other than the singing, she has to know what's going on around the world with her songs and image. Denying her attachment to everything else other than singing makes her songs and image too unprofessional-like and that would be just a joke because she's been doing for over what, more than 26 years now?

 

All these have been said and explained well in a satirical manner by Joey and closing this thread would be just too anarchist.

 

Besides, if someone from Sony does read this, they'd come to know how frustrated we fans are about her not doing well in the charts. Her tours will definitely sell because fans are devoted but the same can't be said about her chartings and her position in the music industry today. Hopefully, someone would take notice how serious we are about her career being salvaged.

 

And for those who can't find the sadistic humour in this thread, just read the first post once again... slowly and clearly... and just analyze Celine's present career to what has been mentioned. I am sure that deep down you'll realize that it indeed is true.

 

So I just request the mods and the admins to please not close this thread cos Joey clearly has said what most of us have been feeling but couldn't express it and put that in words as aptly as Joey did.

I think some of you still don't get the point . Fans aren't complaining about sells, charts or if Céline is #1 or not now. Fans complaint about the poor and bad promotion that Céline is getting from Sony Music, HER record company, who is supposed to promote and pay attention to her music. And consequently, the lack of interest in all these topics from the part of Céline herself and René.

They should care about the stupid and bad strategy of singles that they have followed with Taking Chances, for example (if we can call that a "strategy"). If they don't care, who would do it instead? René Charles? Maman Dion? .

 

While other big artists have increased and improved their promo strategy to face the low sales and piracy (offering remixes, new songs, appealing bonus contents etc), Sony Music is exactly doing the contrary with Céline! . In the case of Céline everything has gone the opposite, and each time from bad to worse!

So funny! That post perfectly describes that has been going on with Celine's career for the past few years. The single choices have sucked, the promotion is awful, and it's as if Sony doesn't even care about Celine's career. I know Celine doesn't have total control over what's released and what's not, but I think she should at least(if she already hasn't) go to Sony and say that she wants some of the good singles released, *with* music videos. Or she should make music videos herself and release them. She's done videos in very short time periods before.

Perfect! Totally sums up how most people probably feel about Celine's career at the moment...and also highlights a huge fault with this forum...instead of actually discussing Celine properly, alot of what goes on here is total adoration-which I get, cause I wouldn't be here if I didn't love her music etc as much as everyone else-but sometimes you have to admit there are certain crappy aspects of her carreer...there's no point being blind to it cause it's not representative of the reality that Rene and her associated management have made some REDICULOUS mistakes of late, showing just how out of touch they are with the fans, and prospective fans...I don't mean in terms of sales or whatever (despite arguments about her certifications being the lifeblood of many of the threads) but just in terms of what Celine is capable of. I don't think I would have cared so much if I hadn't seen that video of her recording "My Love" and when Linda Perry finally told her what we were all thinking, about her not being in control etc, and Celine broke-down...well it just totally highlighted for me the whole problem with her career-her heart's not in it anymore...why bother? I'd prefer her to record an album of songs she's comfortable with, IN HER OWN TIME, and then tour as many gigs as she wanted, not sprint off around the world for a year.

One would argue they are more significant now more than ever. Why is Celine's album plummenting down the charts all over the world? Why wont radio play her songs anymore? Why wont TV play her videos? Why wasnt a proper video made for Alone? Why dont Sony support their supposedly premiere artist? Essentially that is what the opening post of this thread is asking. I agree 100%, this topic is stupid and should be closed especially after people are wishing her dead and posting it her? I don't care if it was you or your brother it is sick and not funny How would you like it if I said I wish you were dead cause your coments wouldn't be on here if you were? Thats what the comment comes across as. When I see a thread like this with more than 13 people praising something senseless I know why the world is in the condition it is.

 

I am one who also shares the frustration that CELINE is being treated like garbage by the radio, TV, etc. She gets no promotion and her CD deserves the best but gets nothing. On the other hand she is in a selling out tour and had a successful 5 years in vegas. I hope celine releases at least 4 more Cds before she retires. But this thread I feel is going to far. I wouldn't care if it was on a mariah forum or anti-celine forum but when I see it on celinedion.com it just gives a bad impression. My friend was viewing this and was like "wow, celine's fans aren't very supportive." And all I could do was nod my head. And the thing is that the moderators seem to think this sort of threads are really neat.

I agree, but I think a thread titled "Sony is dumping Celine" or a more specific thread would have been better. This thread seems like a parody that would be created by an anti-celine fan. But that's not the point. When we hear a "celine dion is better dead comment" we know something is really wrong. Unless you think she should be dead, which I hope no one on Celinedionforums.com thinks since this is a place for celine fans.

So, I've been reading this forum for a long time, and I've rarely felt the need to reply to a thread, until now.

 

First off, I thought the initial post was rather amusing. I also saw it for exactly what it is - someone's creative expression of being frustrated about an artist they love. What's so wrong with that? I mean, okay, if you don't find it amusing, that's fine. Different people have different senses of humor. But to say that it's anti-Celine or makes him an unsupportive fan is going a little overboard.

I just don't understand why every statement about Celine has to be loving and glowing and wonderful. That's not what being passionate about a musician means. It's really frustrating for some fans to look at the way Celine's record company and her management have handled her career the past 5 years. If someone expresses that in a creative way, and happens to use sarcasm and satire to make the point, what's the big deal?

 

Second, about the "Celine's soul is dead" thing... yes, it's a little over-the-top, but I have a feeling it was meant to be more of a metaphor. I'm HOPING at least that it wasn't an actual "I wish Celine was dead" thing... and maybe something was lost a bit in translation?
