smw Posted May 24, 2008 at 03:07 AM Posted May 24, 2008 at 03:07 AM Celine is one of those rare people in a high place who does good things for other people. I'm not saying she should be recognized with such awards - but what I can't stand is that people take this opportunity to make comments like "What those laws should do is ban Céline Dion from singing, and award the the Legion of Honor to people who listened to her and survived". It's so elementary and embarrassing on their behalf. What does that sort of attitude stem from? Jealousy? Quote
stevethefan Posted May 24, 2008 at 03:08 AM Posted May 24, 2008 at 03:08 AM Yeah I agree. In a way I kind of agree with the way they have seemed to cheapen this award by giving it to more and more celebrities, but of course they should not blame Celine for getting the award. She was not the one that decided on it they gave it to her. Hey she's made the world a better place with her positive singing gifts. She may have not saved the world but she's certainly made it a much better place. Quote
Jour053103 Posted May 24, 2008 at 03:09 AM Posted May 24, 2008 at 03:09 AM This is not right!!!! They are attacking the wrong person!!! Celine had nothing to do with getting herself selected..... I agree with This Time when she said mock the people who picked her and not Celine!!! She just accepted the award!!! This is not fair for Celine.......... And as long as I live I WILL SURVIVE AND WILL LOVE THE WAY CELINE SINGS!!!! ALL ARE IDIOTS WHO WROTE THAT!!! bonninpili Posted May 24, 2008 at 04:08 PM Posted May 24, 2008 at 04:08 PM One of the best article that I read of this topic Celine Dion honoured 5/23/2008 9:59:06 PM Canadian singer Celine Dion receives the Legion of Honour from French President Nicolas Sarkozy Canadian singer Celine Dion is honoured by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and is made a knight in the Legion of Honour. As SWarkozy quoted, "France thanks you because your talent and your success have contributed to the influence of the French language outside our borders. In the name of the French Republic, you are made a knight of the Legion of Honour." In turn singer Celine Dion stated, "I share this medal with my relatives, who are here present tonight and I accept it in the name of our father, who died five years ago and was a guide for my thirteen brothers and sisters and myself. My father would have been very proud to be here Mr President and shake your hand, and see his youngest daughter honoured by France. I want to share this honour with my mother and we have the privilege of having her with us still, and who is our strength, our model. Mummy, I owe you this medal." The prestigious decoration was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802, and is the highest decoration in France awarded for outstanding services to France regardless the nationality of the recipient. This is the second award she receives, in 1990 she was made a knight of the Order of Arts and Letters. Nine years after her triumph at the Stade de France, Celine Dion comes back to Paris in the frame of her world tour. She has been performing at the Palais omnisports Paris-Bercy since May 19 and will play six concerts until May 27. Source: Times Now.tv Quote

Rene-Charles is just the cutest kid. And a really lucky one. The French President seems really taken with him.
