Doesn't it say that Celine was already given the honour in 2005, but because of Vegas she never had it officially presented to her? And now it's going to be presented to her by Sarkozy...if they can match up their schedules! :rolleyes: That will be very nice indeed!! Edited by Shesings2me

The Legion d'Honneur is France's highest decoration. It was created by Napoleon Bonaparte in May 1802 and first bestowed on July 15, 1804. It is awarded for gallantry in military action or twenty years distinguished service in military or civilian life for work that enhances the reputation of France through scholarship, arts, sciences, politics, etc.

 

The head of Napoleon is on the front. The back is inscribed with the motto HONNEUR. ET. PATRIE (Honor and Fatherland) AUSPICE. NEAPOLEONE. GALLIA. RENOVATA.

 

The award consists of five classes. In descending order of distinction, they are:

 

1. Grand Cross;

2. Grand Officer;

3. Commander;

4. Officer;

5. Chevalier (Knight)

Well Mister grobandion,not all people knows french in this forum.And yes we didnt know the meaning of this french expression :giggle:I dont know the meaning of many french expressions... Chula wasnt rude....She said something logical :msn-wink:Besides that we hadnt noticed that this page has got an english translation too :whistling:

Well mrs. Snowhite, not all the people of this forum know French? Right! That's why I posted a short English description to the news. If you don't know what "Légion d'honneur" is, please browse the web or surf on Wikipedia or similar websites. It's so easy. :wink: Instead of supporting an useless tubthumping.
