about TC, who would have thought celine will do a kelly-ish and shakira-is song? i love every chances celine took on TC. the ballads are somewhat edgier, younger and fresh and i have to say this is my favorite celine album right now. couldn't live a day without playing it from top to bottom.

about d'elles, i stick to my first post. i have the album since january, and still, only 2 songs grew on me. i don't understand the lyrics so , i only depend on the melody of the songs. but unfortunately, i didn't like them at all. give me SISDA, DMQS & LAP anyday. i can listen to them everyday.

Calm down, okay. Dj and I weren't putting "you" down personally. I think people should look at D'ELLES before judging it. Have it translated (easily done online) and you'll see what a passionate album it is. Too bad we can't get everyone educated in French here. Think of how it would enrich everyone's fandom!

I'm surprised with how split the vote is =)

D'elles is only ahead by 1 vote.

i know almost everyone love D'elles. i admit im having a hard time learning french, but i do enjoy SISDA, DMQS & LAP. i don't understand any of the lyrics, but i fell in love with them, especially SISDA which i do believe her true masterpiece. but for some reason, i can't find the SISDA magic on D'ELLES. not that they are completely different, i can enjoy an album not knowing the meaning of the songs. and i must confess, i only play D'elles like once in 2 or 3 weeks cause it really bores me.

what i can't understand is that why just read my post or opinion and if it annoys you, keep it to yourself and don't say things like "what i said is like an insult". why? it's just an opinion of a fan. we can't please everyone to like this, but i just can't like it. how i wish i love this album the way most of you do. but i just can't. D'elles is not her worst (Miracle is), but i don't think i will like this one.

This was actually a tough choice being that both albums are so different and very good. While TC is more of a contemparary rock-pop, D'elles has a very classy feel to it. In the end I choose D'elles for it's simply beautiful ballads.

If you note, I said "lol" afterwards and was being "Sarcastic." Many people online tend to not understand anglophone or francophone sarcasm, among many other 'phones.' Don't take it personally, and try to read between the lines. This is an online Celine Dion forum, and we have the right to say as we please, so many of us will not leave our opinions to ourselves, as you ask. Dj and I just wanted you to explain yourself, not become defensive.

I chose D'Elles because:

Thinking about the essence and what the album promises to do, I think D'Elles has a better concept and it is really about women and who they are, what they feel and etc.

Taking chances is a very good album, I love it, but I think I was expecting much more. Let's say that she doesn't really take chances in the songs A song for you, Right next to the right one or Skies of L.A (Don't get me wrong, I love those songs!)

In short, as much as I love Taking chances and understand it better than D'Elles, it is less than what the world was expecting with the title "Taking chances".

My vote went to "D'Elles" as well.

D'elles without any doubt!

This album is a masterpiece both lyrically and musically. Celine's vocals are so passionate and fresh (something we've not really heard since A New Day Has Come) and everything about it oozes quality and true artistry. As a whole album it works better than anything she's ever recorded in English or French. I have never felt the need to skip to the next track. Don't get me wrong, she's recorded some amazing tracks over the years which I love but as an ALBUM this is as close to perfection as you can get - the mood, the direction, the sentiment. This album has it all. And even if you don't understand the words, from the first listen you can tell that this is something very special indeed.

This cannot be said for Taking Chances - an album which can only be described as a mess. You kinda get the impression that it was a rushed job in between shows in Vegas - poor choice of songs, tracks placed in the wrong order, too many fillers, Celine sounds tired and bland in many of the tracks and the quality of production on some tracks is questionable. Celine isn't as experimental as the title suggests either - if the album was radically different from anything she's ever done before i wouldn't mind, even if it wasn't to my taste. You couldn't knock the girl for trying, but it falls so short of the mark. She just hasn't tried hard enough. Admittedly there are some flashes of brilliance but I find the rest rather dull. There's just nothing that moves you when you listen to the album. Having followed her career from the early days, I have always had that 'wow' feeling after listening to all of her previous albums for the first time.

It's D'elles every time for me!!

have to say i agree completely with u!! well said...saves me typing it!!

I went for Taking Chances, because there were so many wonderful surprises in that album, but it was massively close.

It actually took me a very long time to get into D'elles (don't know why I usually love her french albums) but I now see it as a beautiful jewel of an album, and realise that I hadn't let it envelop me before, it's an album to sit down to at night and relax to.

Between 1F4T, D'elles and Taking Chances, I think Celine has reached the most artsitic point in her career so far, all 3 are outstanding and totally different from each other.

My God, she's incredible!

D'Elles...no doubt about it. Her best French album in my opinion, way better that the over rated "D'Eux". It is not boring at all, it's a massage for the soul.

taking Chances was (and still is) one of my greatest deceptions. I had all my hopes put on that album, just to find that fiasco

No media impact, no radio impact at all..and not only here in Argentina where I'm used to that, but nowhere else

D'elles is a masterpiece, like most of her albums in french.

D'elles.

Some beautiful songs, Céline singing French, a grest concept and a more consistent album.

I love Taking Chances and was pleased to find that I liked most of the songs from the word go, but D'elles is superior.

Maybe Taking Chances has too many tracks, or a number of different sounds, I don't know...

D'elles has everything :)

The three best reasons to love the art of music.

It appears I made the tying vote, lol. I voted for Taking Chances, but I also lurve D'elles.

Here's the thing...I don't understand French like...at all. The only reason I know even a little bit is because I know the translations of the TITLES of Celine's French songs. For example...I know that "Je Lui Dirai" means "I Will Tell Him", or "Je Danse Dans Ma Tete" means "I Dance In My Head". My point is...since I don't speak French I can't use the lyrics as a reason to like the songs. I can only like the melody. I'm still learning Spanish, and I've been doing it for so long, that right now learning French isn't my priority. Plus, I never really look at the lyrics as being important, even in English. For me it's all about the melody. However, I REALLY like D'elles a lot. It's my favorite French album after S'il Suffisait D'aimer. A cause is my favorite song on the album, and I hope one day she records it in English and released it as a single...because I could see it being a hit.

I voted for Taking Chances though because I feel it's SUCH an amazing album. Some people have been saying they weren't as impressed as they thought they would be, but I totally disagree. If Sony ever decides to promote the album, it would be HUGE...because this is truely a great album. It's my second favorite English album of hers after Falling Into You. The songs all sound COMPLETELY different from each other, and there's just so many different styles of music on it. "Alone" is my favorite song on the album, despite it being a cover of a VERY well known song. It also has one of her best songs ever on it...Fade Away.

So I'm not gonna say it's WAAAAY better than D'elles...because D'elles is also an amazing album IMO. I give both albums very high ratings.

T are different yet both have very unique qualities...I love both.......I would probably say Taking Chances only because I know what she is singing...but saying that I love listening to her in French not knowing a word....I am TORN!

Well, it seems that the fact that we speak a language or not has a great influence on how we appreciate an album in the given language. I understand both English and French, and I must say I prefer D'elles to Taking Chances. D'elles is a perfect album regarding both the lyrics and the music in my opinion. Taking Chances is very good, too, in fact, it has become my 2nd favourite English album (No.1 is TCOML).

It is interesting how I experienced these two albums. In the case of D'elles, I didn't know what to expect, and when it was finally released, I was just amazed. Taking Chances was different: everyone said it would be totally different, edgy, rock themes etc. therefore I had more expectations in advance, and I was a bit disappointed when I finally got it in my hands. Don't ge me wrong, I like this album very much, I just expected more edgy songs. TC is still my 2nd favourite English language albums, as I mentioned above.

For being two really different pieces, there is no real point in comparing them as someone wrote above, but both came out in 2007. That gives a good ground for comparison. :)
