i like alone ...but as stated above its already available for download on i-tunes so whats the difference ????

I think individual letters would be better. More personal and it looks as if each individual person has put some time and thought into what they are saying rather than just signing off on a form letter that someone else wrote. But, I would go along with a form letter if that were the case. Notice how no one is really jumping at the bit to do it though. People just want to complain. I know I have the address to Rene's management office because I stole it from a producer I once temped 3 days for. It's just in storage somewhere and I would have to find it. But I also seem to remember seeing it on the Falling Into You songbook and on some albums. I should look tomorrow when I am at home.

i totally agree its time for action sony need telling but i fear it may fall on deaf ears i think its celine and renes time to realise that sony uk are cr*p and change to another record company 1 that will gaurentee airplay,vids and cd singles,as well as huge promotion of releses i mean whats wrong with sony back in the mid to late 90`s they couldnt do enought for celine and her fans but since 1 heart its like they dont care.

Celine is currently on her world tour which kicked off in South Africa with a benefit concert for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. I agree that the picture you have posted Steve makes it look like a physical release will indeed happen however as things stand just now it's worth pointing out that the UK release schedule quite clearly has "Alone" down for a download only release. Anything can change though and I hope it does.

 

This single NEEDS to chart in the UK otherwise I feel that will be that for "Taking Chances." That would make it 3 failed singles from the album and Celine is guaranteed not to be back here for at least a year so I couldn't see Sony UK bothering if this fails to make an impression on the chart.

That's definately a sticker. If you notice the words are slightly tilted upwards. There's no way someone making a cover for iTunes would purposely do that. However, this could also simply be the cover of the promotional single to be sent to radio stations and music outlets.

 

Here's what I think the CD single, if one should come along, should be:

 

Basic/CD1

1. Alone (Album Version)

2. Can't Fight The Feelin'

 

Premium/CD2

1. Alone (Album Version)

2. Can't Fight The Feelin'

3. Alone (Instrumental)

4. Alone (Enhanced Music Video)

No that is very boring in my opinion! And chances of having a single like that, with sony are very big!

In April last year Sony BMG gave us the shocking announcement that Celine Dion had sold more than 200 million albums worldwide - a fact as astonishing as it is worrying. Even if every single person in the UK bought the new Kooks album three times each, it wouldn't sell that amount. Dion's inexplicable sales record begs the age old question: does quantity equate to quality? The answer: a resounding no!

 

As Westlife have proved countless times over, you may be able to top the charts with your flaccid old power ballad, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's any good. 'Alone' - Dion's cover of Heart's eighties chart-topper - induces so many cringes that you'll need a dozen Botox jabs to clear the wrinkles from your face after listening to it. With horrendous lyrics that sound like they were nicked from a Hallmark Valentine's Day card ("But the secret is still my own, and my love for you is still unknown... alone") and Dion showing off her spine-chilling holler in all its terrifying glory, this track is the aural equivalent of a train wreck. Even if she sells another 200 million records, it won't justify this charmless monstrosity.

Thanks for that Ronny, yet another example of the UK press being ever so kind to Celine.

 

I can understand the reviewer not liking the choice of single or even the lyrics but why bring Celine's sales history into it or feel the need to slam her vocals? It's also highly amusing that he slams the lyrics, like Celine had some sort of control over those considering the song was written 20 years ago!!! It also irritates me that these so called "music experts" somehow imply that those of us who buy or listen to Celine's music dont seem to have a clue about music. Can 200 million of us really be that wrong?

I'm new to the forums and judging from the postings it seems that the label aren't pushing the singles. There's been little tv support (apart from the amazing specials on UK tv) with videos, I've hardly seen any advertising... surely a UK advert during the tour would help... and if you're going to release a download only single at least give people and incentive to buy it.... e.g. some bsides or mixes. Releasing a track that's already been able to be downloaded from the album is completely pointless... as much I love the track... I just think again this is a lost opportunity from the label. Celine is a HUGE star and her impact on the UK charts this period isn't what it should be:

 

SINGLES

* Taking Chances (UK #40)

* Eyes On Me (didn't chart on the UK TOP40)

* Alone (I don't expect this to chart in the TOP40 with it's current release)

 

ALBUM

* Taking Chances (UK #5) This is more like it!

True indeed, the packed arena's do speak (even if chart reflection doesn't).

 

Here's the official cover of "Alone" that i've just purchased from iTUNES. I prefer the promo cover if I'm honest.

LOL. That is extremely optimistic Michael. Current sales show "Alone" no where in the Top 150 (yes that is top ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY!) for the charts due tomorrow. Good old Sony UK eh, some things never change.
