After the failure of EOM, anyone would have guessed that SONY BMG would have learnt their lesson and released this single before EOM and saved EOM/FA/SOL for the summer. But NO, this is what Sony's highly paid execs chalk out But heck, who are WE to complain.. we are just mere buyers who would get every single thing (however ridiculous it may be) that is offered by Sony Don't we deserve to atleast voice out our opinions.. The previous download was the album version.. now it'll be the shortened or 'Radio-Edit' version which would prolly last less than 2 min

Shadow of love, fade away, this time, and surprise surprise, if i'm not mistaken was fan favourites for the next single, but celine has not sung these on any tv shows for these even to released as a video to accompany these, so I guess thats why they are not the next single!

 

yeah but lucky for us she's doing both SOL and FA on tour. would it have been that hard to record a few performances of SoL from different nights and mixed that with some fun backstage footage and then released that as a vid?? which would then promote the new song AND the world tour!! and what about pre-planning? EOM and Alone where the songs featured on the album stickers when the album was released back in November. so I think it was always their intention to release those songs. now the album came out in november but songs were completed months before that. they could have decided then what the singles were and taken her for a week to shoot 2 or 3 vids in one shot and then had them on hold for proper release at a later time.

 

the contact you have, does this person directly work on her promotion? if so, and i ask this seriously and with all due respect.... do they acknowledge how much they suck? i understand in some ways they have their hands tied due to lack of time and participation on Celine's part, but have they considered thinking outside the box for once? if they dont have the ability to promote an artist in the formula they normally use, do they just throw their hands up in the air and say 'f*** it'?

 

its frustrating from this vantage because we all blame sony all the time, but i really want to know exactly how this stuff works and who is charge of making these decisions. because they are making glaring mistakes and i dont understand how these mistakes are so trasparent to fans and not to the professionals.

Good radio airplay is what is needed here. Hopefully Celine can find time to do a couple of TV appearances in the UK in May. But its Sony's job to get the track to radio. The TC music video did get shown, I saw it on 'The Hits' channel 3 times back in december.

The shortened version is completely ridiculous anyway- who would want it? They've taken a great cover...she made it 'Celine', I love the whole music box thing and I think it's a bit more desperate and dark- and then they cut it to the point of being nearly unrecogniseable. It's terrible. "And the night goes by so slow....You don't know how long I've waited and I was going to tell you tonight " Awful. This could have been and should have been massive for her. It's a Celineish song and it's brilliantly produced. The ship has sailed however. Makes me mad seeing all the artists who released albums the same date as Celine getting the videos and promotion that Celine should be. I just don't understand.

It's all about radio play if the song will become a hit. Radio 2 will play it without a doubt but will anyone else? Will Sony even bother sending it to anyone else like they didn't bother to with "Eyes On Me." Regardless of a video, airplay in the UK will decide if "Alone" charts. Precisement. And what radio station wants to play a butchered 2 min 30 sec song? It's just such a waste!! RELEASE A LIVE PERFORMANCE FROM THE TOUR- this would be a treasure and such a good way of promoting Celine, the live performer- the Legend. Sounds cheesey, but that CBS 'performance' will do the opposite.

 

Darren- can we not get a petition going to give to your contact to tell them how terrible they're handling this album? (not your contact personally) November promotion was great and most people know Taking Chances the song...after that tho- nada

Personally I dont think they will send an "edited" version to radio, regardless of what they do in the video. The song is short enough already.

 

It's not Sony UK who seem to have lost the plot with Celine's career though, it's every Sony branch globally! Her album is out of the charts across the world and Sony are just not reacting. It's a travesty.

So why don't we all do something? Send individual letters to Rene's management company (I know I have the address somewhere it's on some of her albums/songbooks, etc). Fans of TV shows have saved their shows by mailing in peanuts, hershey kisses, etc to the studio with letter explaining that they want the show saved. Perhaps we can send individual letters to have Celine's radio career saved? We'd all have to do it at the same time. Any one interested?
