Rene Angelil, Celine Dion's husband and manager, slept nearly a hour the night after the first concert of Celine in Pretoria on February 16th. He reorganized the whole show to avoid few troubles. "It's normal - said Angelil yesterday - I'm not upset. The show can evolve constantly. We reorganized the song-list and tonight's show will be 50% better!"

 

Le Journal de Montréal attended last night's concert and it says that there have been few changes about the costumes chosen by Annie Horth and changes about the order of some songs. They added one more song from Celine's new album, Can't Fight the Feeling. The whole concept, even the presence of dancers, has been reorganized.

 

"There a lot of things that we can't do on a frontal stage." added Angelil. Taking Chances World Tour will be performed 16 or 17 times on a frontal stage and more than 100 on a big central stage. In the next shows there will be more changes until the show is perfect. Mr. Angelil also said that Celine will be performing a medley featuring Beauty and the Beast and the song The Prayer with Andrea Bocelli.

Out of the 300 or so international fans flying to South Africa to see Celine (so they must be hardcore) do we only have Jane who is willing to share videos or mp3s with us, surely there must be some more fans out there. Just curious, coz I doubt Jane is going to every concert in South Africa

Jane, thank you for your hard work and effort! I cannot wait for the preview!

 

And as Jane said, the show that took place on Saturday, February 16, was entirely live! So that means that the songs she performed were not lipped... Are some people happy now? I am not attempting to instill a sense of derision, but come on... Some people are complaining and saying that Celine has been lip synching based on unfounded allegations on a video of no more than 1 minute and a half in duration. In fact, the snippet of It's All Coming Back To Me Now sounded very much live. Aside from the performances on some television shows, I never had the impression that Celine lipped, even in Las Vegas. Maybe I am just being naive because I love Celine, but I usually pick up on the smallest and insignificant details of things, to the largest and noticeable.

 

My point is this: Now that Jane has told us that the show in Pretoria on Saturday was entirely live, nobody has yet to made a comment on that statement. Yet a possible untrue allegation is made meant to perhaps demean Celine's abilities, and the commotion spreads like wild fire.

 

I am completely confident in Celine and the choices she makes. Further, I am not attempting to create controversy.

 

I will not make any future postings on this matter.

I'm so glad they are changing things around.

Celine clearly felt awkward with the dancers on this stage. Especially during FA.

She struggled with the sound constantly throughout this concert and was obviously NOT happy in the second half of RDMH.

Well, we'll see what happens with the show and its possible evolution. If that article is true, I am a bit surprised changes are being so early. Though those changes are probably made to allow a smooth transition throughout the performance in regards to musicians and dancers and what not.

 

The setlist will probably be different in Japan, certain Asian nations, Australia, France, and the UK, among others. Celine has performed in Japan before but she has not performed in China. Like in South Africa, I am sure Celine will perform different songs (All by Myself, I'm Your Angel, Think Twice) as she has not toured there before. We know the setlist in France, Monaco, and possibly Geneva will include more songs in French. But I wonder if the US will see Celine perform All by Myself, I'm Your Angel, or even Think Twice... I think I would love to hear those songs! Personally, I never thought Celine would even perform All by Myself or I'm Your Angel on this tour whatsoever.

 

Just like A New Day..., the Vegas show was always great, but it also evolved between 2003 and 2007. We can say that performances from 2007 probably saw that level of "perfection" of the show.
