Well, dhena, to answer your question about Mimi's vocal deterioration, it's simply because she puts more effort into her singing than what her "real" voice would allow her. She really has the tendency to strain when hitting the high notes. Her power is not as strong and as natural as Celine's. Celine can sing 5 nights a week for 5 years, perform 100+ dates during a world tour, record 7 songs in 2 days and work in the studio way past midnight. Mariah simply can't manage to do any of those things.

When Mariah had a concert here in Manila, she agreed to meet one fan. The meeting took place inside her hotel room with no cameras allowed. The fan owned all her albums but avowed in an interview that he was straight. As in Nmj, Macaronie, grobandion and most especially dj straight.

lol i watched that on WISH KO LANG and a lot of people here, especially the media and the hotel staffs are complaining about mariah's bodyguards and the whole team being so arrogant and demanding. it's not a humor anyways. and i doubt if mariah will come here again because of the traumatic experience that she and her team caused the people here. Were you at the show, dhena? How was her voice? That TV clip showing her singing "Hero" was awful. She sounded dry and her notes were inaccurate. At the end of the song she was like, "that a hero lies in you, and you and you and you...." as she kept pointing to the people in her audience.

let me correct my last post, it's RUMOR not humor LOL sorry

 

manuel, yes i was there. (if im not mistaken, that was 2003). that's why i asked nikosn17 why mariah can't perform HERO properly while her live performance of VISION OF LOVE realy blew me away. she sang HERO terribly bad. and at the song's ending, she whistled the YOU...... part of 'that a hero lies in you'. the show was great overall. her outfits were classy. her intro song was HEARTBREAKER and it was good. ALWAYS BE MY BABY, DREAMLOVER, & HONEY were the highlights.

 

talking about her voice, it was waaaaay better than her latest dvd though after like 6 or 7 songs, the sudden change in her voice became very noticeable.

By the way dhena did she sing the Band Intro? It's always also one of the highlights of the CB tour shows.

unfortunately no. she didn't do that. but i do believe she did that in some countries and i wish she should've done that here. i watched that band intro at youtube and i liked it A LOT! she shrowcased her vocal abilities there, (though of course i still prefer celine's style during Le Ballet) but mimi did a great job to silent the doubters. but after that tour, i don't know, her vocals began to sound a lot hoarser than her previous years (like the rainbow era which i think her worst era vocally). but eventhough my priority is celine, the concert worh every penny. mariah is HUGE. no doubt about it, but celine for me is still my top pick. as you pick mariah your #1 and celine being the 1st runner up

yes i've read that in a magazine, that ricky had an interview with mimi in a hotel room (dunno where exactly), but i can't remember she mentioned celine's name. it's almost a decade now so bear with me. in 1999 i was just 13 so i really can't remember. but i can still remember a rumor that when mariah watched REGINE VELASQUEZ's videos of FOR THE LOVE OF YOU & ON THE WINGS OF LOVE, she commented "A BROWN MONKEY CAN SING?" or something to that effect. and a lot of regine's fans boycoted mariah here by not supporting her albums.

The brown monkey comment was just a nasty rumor concocted by Regine's people. It also wasn't true that bec. of the false allegations of racism, she asked Filipino fans during a concert in Singapore to "get out". I don't know why but Mimi is such a magnet for Internet hoaxes.

By the way her rare songs are actually some of her best.

Do you know ''Everything Fades Away'' (another outtake from Music Box), ''Slipping Away'' (B-side from the ''Always Be My Baby'' single from the Daydream Album), ''There For Me'' (B-side from the Never Too Far/Hero Medley Single in 2001). These are all great songs.

i love the video. thanks a lot nikosn17 for DYTOM! omg i can't believe this is an old song at this point. but i do believe they didn't include it in Music Box because of it's "quite" sexy meaning and sure it doesn't fit the album theme and the image she's projecting that era. and i don't agree that video is her best since Heartbreaker. c'mon Get Your Number her last good video!

 

everything fades away is not an outtake i do believe. it is the final track on my Music Box cd

 

there for me is absolutely one of her masterpieces. she recorded that song for Rainbow album but didn't made it to the final tracklisting and they released it in Glitter era.

 

slipping away is awkward sounding song. thank God it didn't made it to the Daydream tracklisting lol. i don't like it.

 

but, Just Be Good To Me is a gem! it is one of my frustration of her, that she didn't do a studio version of that song.
