Several years ago, on her "Glitter" album, Carey did a ballad-esque version of Def Leppard's "Bringing on the Heartache," to tepid reviews. Black Kitten Posted April 16, 2009 at 12:24 AM Posted April 16, 2009 at 12:24 AM i really love most of her remakes. some of them even sound a lot better than the original (Open Arms, Without You, Against All Odds (solo/album version), I'll Be There and the Luther Vandross duet Endless Love). but i'm not quite sure about I Want to Know What Love Is. here in our country, it is one of the most covered songs. i've heard like 100000000 different versions of this song already (Tina Arena's version is my fave). i can't imagine someone like MC covering this song though, but she's really good in covering a male song (obvious enough as most of her remakes are originally done by male artists). but i'm so looking forward to this new album. She's a Celine wannabe just like Regine at some point was a Mimmers wannabe. At some point ? She sings bel canto nowadays like Babs and Celine herself. However, in the late nineties, the Mimsy factor was undeniable in those RNB songs and videos that Regine came up with. Black Kitten Posted April 21, 2009 at 08:06 AM Posted April 21, 2009 at 08:06 AM "Divas Live" returning, Request Mariah! "VH1 Divas" returns after a four-year hiatus with what promises to be a star-studded show. VH1 wants to hear from "Divas" fans to help determine the direction of the show. Beginning today, VH1 is asking users to tell them who they'd like to see perform at this year's "VH1 Divas" which will air live from the Brooklyn Academy of Music Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, New York, on Thursday, September 17. Go to Divas.VH1.com now to request for Mariah! In 1998, VH1 debuted the first annual VH1 Divas concert in support of the station's "Save The Music Foundation." The concert became an immediate success and consequently VH1 Divas aired annually from 1998 until 2004. Mariah showed her support for this endeavor at the initial concert in 1998 where she performed "My All," "Make It Happen," "Chain of Fools" with Aretha Franklin and "A Natural Woman/Tesimony" with other top female performers. She appeared again in 2000, singing "Love Hangover/Heartbreaker," "Can't Take That Away," "Baby Love/Stop In The Name of Love" with Diana Ross and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." You can download video files of Mariah's 1998 and 2000 "VH1 Divas" appearances at our Media section. Source: VH1 via PR Newswire | MariahDailyJournal | Danny Quote
