The other night when she introduced Josh Groban she said that when she first saw him she thought David Foster was playing a practical joke on her. And if she didn't think Josh Groban who was introduced to her by David "I know a hit when I see it" Foster could hack it....

What is with all of the negativity on here recently? It’s doubtful this will happen - and I can understand most people are already skeptical because most of these "ideas" never happen because of poor planning or it becomes too much- whatever the reason. If this does happen, it will probably end up being a scaled down version. But Céline tells us all to dream big, and what's the harm in trying? If I'm not mistaken, Jane threw together an affordable convention in a matter of weeks.

 

What exactly is so wrong with fans wanting to perform for Céline as she has for us all of these years? I think, whether it happens or not, the fact that her fans would want to do this for her would touch her heart. This is going to take a lot of effort, persistence, and yes - money. But if we can collectively make something like this happen, I would be proud to try and be a part of it.

The negativity is just normal. You'll always have people who cherish these ideas and other people who just try to bring them down. It's balance.

This sounds like a BRILLIANT idea!! It could be a really spectacular event if organised properly!! I say go for it!!

 

But you're right, it would have to be planned for atleast a year away from now. To give most of us time to save up! What country would this be likely to be held in?

Oh, to give you information - Jane did not organize any kind of convention. She booked several dinners for us in Las Vegas during the last week and booked a tour bus for us to experience Las Vegas! We had a fabulous time together, though. Bless her heart!

It just makes me sad to think that people who don't know better will put their energy and hopes into something that has a 0.1% chance of happening. It's one thing to do a fan get together and do whatever you want, but there are just so many issues with this idea that it makes the failed convention look like a walk in a park. For example, if this is going to happen in the US and you have people coming from other countries you will have to petition the government for performer visas, etc., which is actually impossible given the following requirements:

Requirements for a P-1 Entertainment Group:

 

To qualify for P-1 visas, an entertainment group must show that it has received international recognition as outstanding for a sustained and substantial period of time. International recognition can be shown by the group’s nomination or receipt of significant international awards or prizes for outstanding achievement in its field, or by three of the following types of documentation that establish that the entertainment group has:

 

performed or will perform as a starring or leading entertainment group in productions or events that have a distinguished reputation;

 

achieved international recognition and acclaim for outstanding achievements in its field as evidenced by reviews in major newspapers, trade journals, magazines, or other published materials;

 

performed and will perform services as a leading or starring group for organizations and establishments that have a distinguished reputation;

 

a record of major commercial or critically acclaimed successes;

 

achieved significant recognition for achievements from organizations, critics, government agencies, or other recognized experts in the field; or

Really people, is it really necessary to keep reminding how hard it would be? I mean, as far as I'm concerned, I'm old enough and have enough experience in the field to know all the kind of work which is involved in this. So if you wanna help, it's appreciated, if no, why keep trying to bring people down?

 

I mean, I know it's hard, and well, extremely hard to help, but then again, Annalicious, no one's forcing you to cooperate or to invest your time and energy on something which, as you say, has 0,1% chance of happening, so I don't see why you're so bothered. Again, you're worrying with things we'll have to worry if we actually have any chance of putting this up.

But if you want to do this in the US then everyone will need a performance visa... like Anna said. If non-US people came in on a visitor visa knowing full well they would be performing at this thing then they would be breaking the law... and lying to a Federal officer is a big deal.

 

All the negative stuff has to be put out there, I think. If you are going to write this letter and send it to Celine's team isn't it best to have all the answers and be completely prepared so it doesn't look like some pie-in-the-sky pipe dream?

I didn’t realize that a performance visa was needed… and that is obviously going to be an obstacle. There are several obstacles… but I think Kev has a really neat idea, and he took the first step of putting it out there.

 

You can accuse me of being way to optimistic, but I just think simply trying wouldn’t hurt anything or anybody. If someone wants to take the time to write a letter - let them! Don’t base your reluctances on the convention, or lack there of, if someone plans this thoroughly and reasonably, something could come of it. I'm not saying a big, huge, spectacle - but something. There's no harm in pursuing the idea... it will definitely never happen if no one tries. And if I’ve learned anything in the world of Céline, it’s that persistence is key.

WOW! Its funny to read everyones comments of "reality" and the negativity.

 

As I said a few pages back, What a fantastic idea! We just have to wait for the letter to be replied to and take it from there.

It would be such an amazing creative thing to happen, and as for someone saying "Its a car*ppy idea, as is waiting for her at her hotel, and giving her a fan book...." WHAT?! That is what true fans do, and Im pretty sure any singer would love to see people's responces like Celine gets.

 

If it could work, it would be amazing to see all the fans from the forum finally meet each other! that would be craazzaayy!

Regarding the above, which I myself added yesterday, we could ask them to contribute their time for the good of the charities!!!

It's just an idea and anything could happen but Céline tells us to dream big no matter how impossible it may SEEM!!!

an idea i just had: i know that the performer visa is probably gonna be the hardest obstacle, so if we can't make it past that but we still can do the show, could we possibly raise enough money to make performances from other countries via sattelite? just an idea! btw, take your time with that letter. I agree with everyone on here that i would love to finally get to meet all the rest of you. and to meet Celine after our tribute concert!!! That would be a dream come true! SO, WHAT DO YOU SAY TO TAKING CHANCES?????
