The central scéne really looks a set of the room, impressing enough I find certainly rooms to welcome the show have to allow themselves of enormous etre!!

But there that produces really well, I have hate to see it soon!

I love these pics! Thanks for sharing them! I can imagine that they are still working out some kinks in the show now that it's being performed in the round. I think all things considered, it would be nice if the seats were closer to the stage. If they're afraid people won't be able to see the show or opening, or whatever others have commented about, normally during a live show you'll stand up to see what the heck you're paying for. I would hate to have paid for "front row seats" and still be 15 feet from the stage. I mean, c'mon, who's gonna be sitting during the opening vid/number, anyway... and the middle platform goes so high, you'd be able to see her when she's in the middle of the stage... maybe Americans just like more action and like to be closer to it? lol

Funkier, rockier Celine Dion wows sold-out Tokyo Dome

Between her sabbatical, pregnancy and an extended residency at a Las Vegas casino, it's been years since Celine Dion has gone out on tour. The last time the Canadian songstress hit these shores was nearly a decade ago.

 

For two nights, Dion played to a sold-out crowd at the Tokyo Dome, with attendance displaying just how high the expectations were among Japanese audiences, who had not seen her since 1999.

 

She opened her set with the rocker, "I Drove All Night," warming up the crowd with her impressive vocal range. Dion is not an artist who won her enormous success by writing hit songs or playing an instrument. No, she rose to where she now stands through the power of her brilliant singing. In her voice, one can hear nuances of emotional expression, a skill that has become her greatest asset when performing ballads that evoke refreshing drama. However, these performances seemed to signal a departure from this.

 

With a certain rockiness, a booming low-end funk sound and blueslike expression in her singing, the audience was introduced to a side of Dion that they had never seen before.

 

When she sings rock, she is head-and-shoulders above your typical rock singer, beautifully digesting the vibrant musical style and adding a bit of her soul, lending a potent competence to her songs.

 

Without argument, her lyrically rich hits such as "Power of Love" were well placed, thrilling the crowds, but particularly noticeable was the overall energy she directed outwardly.

 

On her previous visits to Japan, Dion delivered comparably lackluster performances. The recent Tokyo Dome concerts were much more entertaining visually, as conceptual images and closeups of back-up dancers were projected on large moveable video screens.

 

It is a display of incredible will for Dion to show a new side of herself on her first world tour in nine years. It is probably because she knows that she possesses an ability that affords her the luxury to be adventurous with any kind of song.

Big thank you (or shall I say "arigato"? hihi) to all of you, esp. to Thomas, for all these amazing photos and videos!!! I enjoyed everything very much, like most of you, I find "All By Myself" and duet with Yuna (esp. from the second night) as the best songs!! Ach, and "Fade Away", too bad we don't have a bootleg video of it.

 

Talking about bootlegs, thanks to that Thai fan who recorded it for us and shared here!!! :) You are really too kind!!!!

Even if I would never call it "nearly CD quality", it was still great to hear to the entire concert in one piece! :wub:

 

About the "hair on leg" thing... Personally I think it just shows how great and above all other "stars" our Céline is - silly journalists don't get other gossip subject on her so they have to blow out the the "hair on leg" thing as a very important news, hahaha! :D

 

Céline rocks and is still sooo sexy!!! Wish I will look that way when I'm 40... dreams, dreams, dreams, hahahaha!

Personally, I don't like this stage. Or maybe better say: not the stage s what I don't like but the fast (like Mathias said) that it's such a remote island, far away even from the front rows and so unaccessible...

 

But it's only about my paersonal feelings end expectactions as in general I prefer maybe smaller shows and esp. where the artist is nearer to the audience, have more contact with it.

 

My dream is to see Céline giving a concert kinda "A l'Olympia"...

 

But I don't intend to complain, I'm sure I will enjoy all the concerts I'mgoing to this year to the maxxxxx!!!! :D :clap:

It's just to share my personal dream with you, hehe...

By the way, the only Asian writings in the tourbook is Céline's name written in different languages (if I remember well, it was in Japanese, Korean and Chinese) or are there more text in these languages? Or is the rest of the tourbook all in English??
