New Article: Celine is sad

Well it's an interesting article if it's true. In a way I would kind of find it refreshing to hear Celine talk like this in an interview because she usually has to be in that "interview mode" of having to answer the same questions from interviewers and finding the proper, nice sounding responses to give them.

 

I do think that even though Celine is a very driven person and definitely likes to try and please everyone I kind of thought it would have been better for her to take a year or two off after the Las Vegas show ends and THEN make a new album and maybe tour. Even though I loved the LV show I think it should have maybe ended a year or two earlier just for the simple fact that Celine was performing basically the same show for five years and I think for her it must have been difficult to have to do that almost every week. I could see her being happy just being away from show business and singing and everything for awhile.

 

I think she may have thought that she should make the new album now and tour to stay with the positive momentum she has been having in LV and she knows that she has a lot of global fans that have not seen her perform in their country's for awhile. I guess that even though this tour will be a lot of work at least she will be traveling more and seeing thing with her familly, especially RC so that's a good thing.

Can someone translate the article correctly for us?

 

I remember Céline talking on more than one occasion about taking her family on a boat - and going all over, to the Greek Islands, etc. I thought for sure she would take the time to do this, because she seemed very determined about making it happen. But then I heard that her tour would being in Feb. 2008 - there's no time for anything. It's been bothering me for a while - Céline is taking on too much. Sometimes people forget that she is human just like the rest of us. She cannot be expected to go non-stop from now until Jan. 2009. It's insane, and I'm worried about her - regardless of whether or not this article is legit.

 

As hard as it would be to no longer have Céline in our lives show business wise - we have to remember all of the years that she has given us. I remember when she went on her break in 2000, I was barely a teenager, and I was devastated at the thought that I would never see her perform live. But then - as if it was meant to be - she began performing in Vegas just as I was graduating from high school. As a graduation present, I saw her for the first time - live. It made me a bigger fan when I didn't think that were possible, seeing her live is like nothing else. Having her look you in the eye, interact with you - is such a gift. My point is - I am so thankful that I have had this second chance to see her in person eleven times. I have met so many wonderful people, such as the band, dancers, René, and Michel - not to mention all of the Céline friends I've made. Also I did have many moments with Céline every time I was in her presence... which mean more to me than I could ever express. So if she were to stop completely - I would be selfishly sad - but I would understand. She has given us so much. And if she were to walk away in the near future, I am content that I have been able to witness such an amazing woman. And I am thankful every day for the impact she has had on my life, and will continue to do so no matter what.

Seemed like a hurted woman, talking her mind out like there's no tomorrow, regarding all her life in phrases like "I never wanted a carreer, I just want to sing like my brothers, my mom wanted that, Rene driven me, I was soo young, I came home and I found my manager"...

 

Celine NEVER spoke like that, and this is not her way to demonstrate she's tired... Even in 99 when she was exausted she spoke like that... I don't know if she's THAT tired as the article says: she was doing her show at night, been with her family and son all day, putting him sleep, as SHE wanted... I can't see the VEgas deal as a NIGHTMARE to her... She wasn't so tired...

 

The world tour doesn't even started, and she's complaining like that? Or she is tired of Rene and his demandings and decided to stop it, or the article isn't so truthfull...

Anyways, I don't think Celine is saying anything new. She has been saying since 1996 that René sometimes forgets he is a husband and focus more on being a manager and she gets really pissed. What else is new? The only thing she is saying differently now is that she is indeed tired and she is not that young anymore. And he really isn't young anymore.

 

And if you ask me, I think she is getting more and more worried with his age and the time she spends with him.

 

I believe she was especially sad or tired when she was interviewed. When we're tired everything looks worse, everything sounds dreadful. She'll be alright. I trust René. Always did, always will.

This interview makes me very sad, Céline being unhappy makes me very sad...

 

I know I will be very sad the day she'll announce her retirement forever but let's not be selfish! As I said before (here or in an nother thread about 'what will she do after world tour') thar I can totally understand how much she wants to give her kids (if she gets more in the future) and how much she wants to dedicate herself to them!

 

And as one of you said: almost her entire life is mainly singing and she hadn't really got chance to enjoy other life, the live non-showbusiness people lead...

 

We all know it was her dream to sing and I'm sure she still love to sing very much but loving to sing is not the same as leading highly intensive career over 25 years long now!

 

And as she actually reached all the tops in music showbusiness, she doesn't need to proof herself and the others anymore that she's having one of the greatest voices of all times.

 

Someone said she'll have almost 3 months break after completing her Vegas gig... Well, there are ony almost TWO months and I'm sure these will be busy months too!

I'm sure most of these 2 weeks will be filled with rehearsals for the world tour and finnishing plans, choosing songs etc. etc.

2 months it's VERY short time and I'm afraid the only break there for her may be Christmas-New Year period... if at all...

 

I would love to hear her singing as long as I live BUT it would be sooooo selfish!!!... I love Céline with all my heart, even though I don't know her in person, she's one of the most important person in my life... and exactly this is why I wish her all the happiness she needs!

And if this means retirement, than - as Alice said - let her retire and enjoy her life outside of showbusiness!!...

And I know I will be more than happy to hear from her again after some more years but I also will be happy if she won't come back into showbiz and stay happy where she will be.

 

Last but not least, the point about René's age isn't without importance!

I don't really think Céline will continue being in showbusiness when René will get too old or even passed....

 

And who knows what's the truth about it all... about Céline, René, their relationship, especially when it comes to relationship as "working woman" and "her manager"...

Actually, I think you need to look at this like a companion text to My Love. It's quite obvious. Hello, it's Linda Perry, the woman who oh so totally understands Celine, the outpowered fragile woman behind the showbusiness machine, she wrote her that song. Now read that article, you'll understand the song. Nobody wants to hear such a song from that fun-loving woman who's in happy-sappy motherhood-land gargling her hits. It has to be credible (somehwat credible). Not so long ago, she sang a song called "I seek the shadows". We got an article about this woman, the songwriter who was claimed to have discovered this other side of Celine - please make a sign if this starts getting familiar at any point... Yes, they take what she said and put those things together so they fit the My Love/Je Cherche L'Ombre story. Nothing more, nothing less.

and then i dot understand how another artist can do the same, and i heard about celine only complaining, maybe not from her but from medias, madonna has many children and she still is a very good mother to them , and makes tour every three,two years.

All the essential points about her comments have already been addressed here. Nevertheless, I wanted to say that from my experience as an average/normal (? ) person I know that happiness/excitement and sorrow/anxiety about the future often bittersweetly coexist... It's hard when you are being pulled to different directions by (not necessarily mostly) others but yourself, too. Celine being the hardworking, dedicated artist must feel, I think, these different demands quite weighty.

 

Otherwise, I think too much speculation is bad. She is a mature, levelheaded woman (as Rene is an experienced manager with a sound mind and unconditional love for his family), who must make her own decisions. The only thing her fans can do, is express their support whichever direction she might be taking in the future.

If she feels too tired, then after the World Tour, she should take a long break (maybe for 1 or 2 years!). It might be sad for us but after a break, i think she will have full energy & real enthusiansm to sing again (a thing that I rarely see in her now, especially in her recent trip to Europe!). We can not ask too much from a person who dedicated more than 20 years to music and of course, she is human too so she needs to rest & enjoy family life. That's just what I think!

for me it's normal after this huge job she needs to relax and she will i expect 2-3 years:) but then she will come back She even herself knows that she can't live without music but after the tour the break is needed and it's not bad at all. we also can be tired of her somehow:P and she also needs to think about new material which she wants to express it must be a good idea and she will for sure cope with it:) i tell you we will see her very soon:) but firstly she really should stop working for some time:)

I would love to see her on tour and all, but even without the article, I was hoping she would take a longer break than just 2 months and jump into a CRAZY world tour (that spans almost all continents). I'd miss her, but I'd rather have her refreshed and rejuvenated than anything else...

Have just read the article in French. No need to translate the whole thing again as the first translation was quite accurate, except it makes the whole thing seem more dramatic. I don't think we need to worry that Celine broke down crying saying her career was all her mother's idea and that Rene is some over-bearing impresario. she was very sad, tired and sick during her UK/French promo tour. It is very possible that she cried. she may even have said these things. But the way the writer puts things together then adds his/her own words in a way that influences our interpretation of Celine's words is very misleading.

 

Celine is always calm and controlled and would not expose herself to a journalist like this. If there was any truth in this, if her world really was falling apart, everybody would have heard about it... and other French journalists would have certainly pursued it. I find it all very implausible. Just clever, tricky journalism.

 

However, Celine needs a break. I'm worried she will be exhausted when I see her in the UK! We all saw her these last few weeks. She is tired and seems very sad. Thankfully she seemed on top form for her US performances, so maybe it was just down to exhaustion. However, I think she has been made aware of the fact that people have noticed a difference and she is making an effort to seem like the 'old' Celine... living up to all our excessive expectations.

 

It will be such a sad day for us all if Celine were to retire permanently. But it will happen one day and, if it would make her happy to quit tomorrow, then I would support her decision. I am glad so many of you feel the same. she has achieved a lot and given us all so much. She is human and should not have to endure such pressure or undergo such scrutiny. It would drive any normal person mad. I think singing was her life before. But now she is a mother and I think that she has realised that all the success in the world is not enough to make you happy. Everybody telling her how wonderful she is and how she has it all must drive her crazy. this explains why she seems to be saying she would not sing if she had her time again... and I understand her. It's so tragic and heartbreaking. As much as I love her music, she should stop if she is not happy.She seems to make a wonderful mother and it is such a shame she could not have started a family sooner and had more children. She has realised that being a mother is the life she wants and that maybe she has put her career first for too long. One thing the article gets right is that Celine is not in control of her own life. With her success comes immense responsibilty and if it is not Rene telling her what to do it is us, the fans. We need to stop before we burn her out completely.

 

Celine has said she wants to interpret Maria Callas for the cinema... and we all know what happened to Callas... I just hope it doesn't happen to Celine.

3 times in the past year!

To be honest if sony was doing the promotional scene better than they have with more adverts posters

getting the music on the radio and video channels then Celine could put her feet up rest and
