Mippa Posted November 11, 2007 at 06:17 AM Posted November 11, 2007 at 06:17 AM "Céline Dion likes to say she has her head in the stars, is the happiest person in the world, and is now more grounded than ever. However after a short interview with Dion this past week in Paris, I found a woman with many layers and inner battles. When I asked her what is the most common misconception people have about her, she thinked about it for a minute "People think I wouldn't be able to quit singing but I'm definitely sure I don't need to sing. I wanted to sing like my brothers and sisters, I never thought about having a career. It my mom who wanted that for me, she's the one who gave me my first song, I never asked for it. I love what I do and have no regrets but if I had to do my life over, I would probably not choose the same road." Linda Perry wrote one of Dion's songs on her new album "Taking Chances" called "My love", that completely overwhelms Celine. She's still not able to sing it without crying. "I can't sing the bridge." (I would share my whole life with you./Would you do the same for me?/I would give all I am to you./Would you do the same for me?/And I will stand tall to get by/No matter how hard I try to hide/ Could you see I could break/ Did you notice all my mistakes/There were times I could feel you read my mind.) Linda wrote this song after she met with Dion in Vegas. "I thought she was really cool, but she also scared me a bit because she has character. You can't tell her bullshit. She was able to read me and she took me like a mother cat who takes her kitten by the neck." tells Celine. According to Linda, "Celine is someone who doesn't know how to say NO. She doesn't have the time to do what she really wants, and really doesn't have very much control of her own life.". "To be honest, I think you are not truly happy" she said to a Celine in tears. "However you must take the responsibility for the choices you made". Celine is currently making her rounds in Europe promoting the new alblum and we are seated in the car that is parked in the studio of La Plaine St Denis (France). Celine is wiping the few tears that are running down her face and asks for a rest before they open the door to her car. She never questioned what husband/manager René Angelil decided for her "Anyway, I was too young, I didn't have any background. Today, I don't feel doubtful, but I do question, I can't do everything anymore, it makes me more anxious, I need more time to be ready. I don't have regrets, but I have a choice to make: if I go on like this, I'll miss a lot of moments with my son and my husband. I've been rehearsing for 25 years, to perform a good show, give an interview, record a french album, then an english album, and when I stop it I'm exhausted. Whith time, all my little diseases increased. My body talks to me, it's saying "Celine you need a break", but I have be what people expect from me, and sometimes people expect a lot." I ask her if she is able to let loose and relax on her down time at home and she replies, "Relaxing? I don't know what it means. When I'm home I need my husband, what I dread is my manager. All the time he reminds me of my work." I ask Angelil and he explians that he indeed knows it very well, and that it's hard to balance home time from work time, and says he fully intends to be more of a husband than an impresario after the world tour." Krys Posted November 11, 2007 at 07:20 AM Posted November 11, 2007 at 07:20 AM aww. Celine should take a break. i feel like giving her a biiiiig loooong hug right now Quote
ashleylovesceline Posted November 11, 2007 at 07:31 AM Posted November 11, 2007 at 07:31 AM Aww. Why isn't she taking a break before the tour - it's too much. Quote
thevoice Posted November 11, 2007 at 07:48 AM Posted November 11, 2007 at 07:48 AM if celine really said those things we have our answer as to what happened during her last visit to europ...appereantly the all "i'm the happiest i've ever been" thing is a show and in a rare moment celine told us how she really feels . can we blame her? i still can't believe she is not taking a break after the vegas gig - it's crazy...ofcours she is tired and she wants to spend some time with her family . i truely think that rene is the only force that keeps her career going - celine wants to quit guys , a long break can make her miss music but she has to take a long break . Quote
Tal Posted November 11, 2007 at 08:09 AM Posted November 11, 2007 at 08:09 AM of course she isnt taking a break after vegas. she wants to take a permanent break, so she'll do this last album and tour for Rene and then really take that break she always wanted. i dont think she'll ever completely leave show business, but i think this album/tour/promo campaign will be the last of its kind. i think its clear that the real drive and ambition belonged to Rene and Celine was just the vehicle. thevoice Posted November 11, 2007 at 08:18 AM Posted November 11, 2007 at 08:18 AM "of course she isnt taking a break after vegas"?? what's so logical about it? a break could make this entire world tour look and more importantly sound diffrent , not to mention celine doesnt even want to tour right now . this all pressure would only make her want to quit forever - after 5 years in vegas how can she just move on to a global world tour without taking atleast few months off?!? I think the interview just happens at a time she feels depressing, everyone would have moments like that. But I highly doubt she would quit forever right after the tour. dj4celine Posted November 11, 2007 at 09:52 AM Posted November 11, 2007 at 09:52 AM Aww.. Celine for you !! She may not quit show business altogether, but she sure needs to take some time-off and come back but not do another Vegas gig... a small concert once or twice a year would be enough... and maybe even an album in a period of 3 years seems logical.. that makes the fans anticipate more, just like how we are anticipating this album Quote

firebird Posted November 11, 2007 at 10:49 AM Posted November 11, 2007 at 10:49 AM Actually, there is another article in the link that Bellamy posted that states that Taking Chances was planned a long time ahead. Apparently they promised to make a new album and a promotion tour in 2007 back when they extended her stay in Las Vegas for another two years.I haven't heard the album yet, but I'm excited now about My Love. Thematically it's not really new, rather seems quite close to songs like Regarde-moi or Je ne suis pas celle. Quote
asiii m Posted November 11, 2007 at 10:49 AM Posted November 11, 2007 at 10:49 AM Actually, she'll have almost 3 months off between the 15th of December and the 14th of February - the date of her first concert from the world tour. So I think that she'll be able to repose at least a few weeks during this time. I have always admired and loved Celine for her ambition and for the strength she put in when wanting to have a complete family (it's about the birth of Rene Charles). And then she came back as powerful and beautiful as she had been before. She may have been crying at the moment of the interview, but still...remember she said a few years ago, when she came back, that she wanted to be able to give people back what they gave her (it was another interview - just before the Divas Live 2002 I guess) and she wanted to give'em her soul Remember? So, in a way, that's what she's done, maybe too much sometimes... Quote Some people have everything - they have nothing.May 21st, 2008 - Paris, Bercy & November 22nd, 2013 - Antwerpen, Sportpaleis

pat200 Posted November 11, 2007 at 10:59 AM Posted November 11, 2007 at 10:59 AM actually i really feel sad that she is sad. she has given us a lot all through the years and when she lips a performance or 2 we all get at her throat, and if a song is not perfect we say she is finished...i love celine with all her imperfections and i think as fans the least we can do is to show our support to her decisions and her appearances and everything else. she really does nothing in life but sing. she has no time to enjoy anything... But I highly doubt she would quit forever right after the tour. The more I think about it, I think you're right. Maybe this interview for the most part came at a time when she was really feeling the pressures of show buisness - the less fun part of promotion. When you're tired or frustrated with your job, even if you love what you do, you tend to focus on the negative, instead of the positive. Actually, she'll have almost 3 months off between the 15th of December and the 14th of February - the date of her first concert from the world tour. So I think that she'll be able to repose at least a few weeks during this time. Not necessarily. She won't get much of a break before she has to perform the final shows of A New Day..., then she has less than three months to rehearse for the tour, and also there's supposedly a TV special at some point at the beginning of the year. She'll probably get some time off, but not as much as she deserves. Quote
Shamrock_1982 Posted November 11, 2007 at 12:53 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 12:53 PM In a way im glad this article came out cos so many of us who met her over the european promo trip this past 2/3 weeks all said she wasn't herself and wondered why...this is a small insight I guess....bless her!! On many of the recent interviews she's made funny little comments when asked why she isn't taking a break after A New Day... In one she even burst into song, singing "Dream, dream, dream". I hope she does get chance to rest before the tour but somehow I can't see her finding the time Quote
Alice Posted November 11, 2007 at 02:44 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 02:44 PM she really should slow down and take the time for herself. I want her happy. even if it means her retiring. Quote

Soon as possible!I really want her happiens. More than her success in sing. But I think that Celine born to sing. Even what she said about if she start her life again she was choose other way...Because her sing is amazing. And she made as and will make as so excited and happy. She make our life so full in love and happiens. celine_uk_canada Posted November 11, 2007 at 04:27 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 04:27 PM (edited) This is this Celine we all love, the real her, not the Typical interview talking about how great her life is....... im looking forward to seeing her perform in montreal but i hope she takes A long BREAK from singing, her husband is old, her family needs time, and even if you dont care about her personally we all have noticed her voice isn't what it was( even on the album) she needs to rest or it'll be gone forever Edited November 11, 2007 at 04:29 PM by celine_uk_canada Quote

Filine Posted November 11, 2007 at 04:58 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 04:58 PM Everybody goes through the ups and downs of life and Céline really does have a LOT of obligations, the part she really loves performing in front of an audience is only a small piece of the job. I guess that the past weeks she was confronted by aspects of the job she really won't miss. Doing this heavy promotour right after being sick for a week, being exhausted at the start, I can imagine that is hard. And then your performances don't go as well as you hoped... I would cry!! I think she's torn between two worlds. I say that she has to toughen up and speak up if she doesn't want to do certain things. I am a huge fan but for me her happiness comes first. If she no longer loves to do this...then so be it. It's her life and life is short. But I hope she'll find some kind of balance after the tour and after a long break in which she is the one who chooses what she wants to do.
