takingchances83 Posted November 11, 2007 at 05:03 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 05:03 PM Whilst i am delighted as we are all about the new album, its so obviously too soon after the vegas shows for her to promote it and tour it across the world. She spent to long in vegas i think, the original 3 years should have been plenty enough and then she could have had 18 months off and then recorded this album and been able to be in the best shape vocally and emotionally and physically to be able to sing live at all her appearances and be able to really promote the album not just at release, but for several months with each coming single etc. You can tell she isnt herself and is exhausted. It makes me think of that article in the daily mail magazine sunday, that seemed ridiciolous at first, the one with the headline 'Slave to Stardom'. Im just glad shes still around as i remember in 1999 when it was announced she was going to retire for good and i was so sad, so we have been lucky to get the albums out of her this decade. I hope she feels better soon and more contented. Quote
firebird Posted November 11, 2007 at 05:22 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 05:22 PM Actually I don't know, but releasing an article intitled "I don't need to sing" the same time you release a new album, strategically that's a bad move. She recorded a new album and then they publish such things where they make her the victim of the evil showbusiness machinery, that doesn't work together really well. It's like Filine said, if right now (and we can only guess) she's just willing to commit to the bright happy side of her job, she'd better take a break and come back when's ready to commit herself fully again. That's the best she could do for herself personally and also as an artist. Nobody wants your art when you declare you did it while you actually long for something totally different. So this article, however insightful it might be, it comes at the wrong time in my opinion. She's exhausted? Then say it like it is, just stop nailing her to the cross. Quote
Alex_Incognito Posted November 11, 2007 at 05:32 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 05:32 PM (edited) Is this even a legit source? I have my doubts. Celine has never been negative like this. For those of you who have watched her recent interviews in French, she seemed to be at ease and ready to get away from the trap known as Vegas. This interview would make you believe otherwise. If it is true, perhaps she was having a bad day. I highly doubt that these are true quotes, though. You know Celine loves what she does and she is touched by her fans. And she said herself that she wouldn't do it if it wasn't fun anymore. And I really doubt that she'd lash out at Rene like that for an interview. Plus she's always said that it was her that told her mom she wanted to be a singer and it was her mom that helped her get her dream. Why the hell would she release a book called "Ma vie, mon Reve." She would have called it "L'enfer de ma vie!" She's also said on a recent TF1 interview that she has so much to look forward to and so many new songs to sing, after singing the same songs every night she's ready for her 2 new albums to be in her show. Nando Férri Posted November 11, 2007 at 05:56 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 05:56 PM Oh yeah. The gilr is really sad. That's why she was so strange. As I always say to my friends, she's tired. Anyone would be. That's a long time working and she has a lot of money but that thing never stop. I understand her... and Rene... shame on you! I've seen a lot of people in this forum saying that he loves money and that he only think about that. Now I'm starting to believe that. I wonder if he ever trully loved Celine. And her sadness and nerves is very well reflected on this new album. And it's amazing. Love you Celine! Makes what is better for you. Run away, disapear, anything... but be happy. I completely agree - i think creatively she hasnt had to dig deep for any emotional influence for this album i think its quite raw. Which is sad. I suppose the best things come from sadness creatively. Quote

Dionesque Posted November 11, 2007 at 07:29 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 07:29 PM This interview makes me very sad, Céline being unhappy makes me very sad... I know I will be very sad the day she'll announce her retirement forever but let's not be selfish! As I said before (here or in an nother thread about 'what will she do after world tour') thar I can totally understand how much she wants to give her kids (if she gets more in the future) and how much she wants to dedicate herself to them! And as one of you said: almost her entire life is mainly singing and she hadn't really got chance to enjoy other life, the live non-showbusiness people lead... We all know it was her dream to sing and I'm sure she still love to sing very much but loving to sing is not the same as leading highly intensive career over 25 years long now! And as she actually reached all the tops in music showbusiness, she doesn't need to proof herself and the others anymore that she's having one of the greatest voices of all times. Someone said she'll have almost 3 months break after completing her Vegas gig... Well, there are ony almost TWO months and I'm sure these will be busy months too! I'm sure most of these 2 weeks will be filled with rehearsals for the world tour and finnishing plans, choosing songs etc. etc. 2 months it's VERY short time and I'm afraid the only break there for her may be Christmas-New Year period... if at all... I would love to hear her singing as long as I live BUT it would be sooooo selfish!!!... I love Céline with all my heart, even though I don't know her in person, she's one of the most important person in my life... and exactly this is why I wish her all the happiness she needs! And if this means retirement, than - as Alice said - let her retire and enjoy her life outside of showbusiness!!... And I know I will be more than happy to hear from her again after some more years but I also will be happy if she won't come back into showbiz and stay happy where she will be. Last but not least, the point about René's age isn't without importance! I can make Tal's words on René mine... I don't really think Céline will continue being in showbusiness when René will get too old or even passed.... And who knows what's the truth about it all... about Céline, René, their relationship, especially when it comes to relationship as "working woman" and "her manager"... "Walls, can you keep the secret?" Its not that DRAMATIC like was put here before. Pay attention. Here is some parts:Celine said: " Relaxing? What is it? When I am home, the biggest problem for me is my manager. He always reminds me my work." Rene answers: "The two of us always face challenges, says Angelil. If she were alone on this, she wouldn't face it, maybe. We are a couple, and we have a child. She trusts me, not only as her manager. She knows I am the one who loves her most." What she meant by saying those words was that as Rene is her manager, even when they are home, he unconsciously reminds her of her work. She didn't mean HE obligates her to work at home. It isn't that dramatic... people!!!! Celine has been tired and she needs vacation...this is what we can notice through her words...And celine has already said if she had to do it all again, she would never start her career all over again...it must be really tiring for her.She wish she could have a normal life, enjoying life with her son and her husband.. that's what she means on this interview... autumnskies00 Posted November 11, 2007 at 08:03 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 08:03 PM This makes sense now after reading her article. I saw her in Las Vegas after her first show back from summer break and the whole time she seemed so sad to be there. I kept telling myself it was because it was her last run in the LV shows but I guess not..cause now after seeing all of her promo shows she seems so sad in every one. She doesn't even get that three month break after LV because she'll be rehearsing for the tour. Poor Celine. She needs to take a break before this tour..a long one probably because after spending 400 bucks on my tickets I don't want to go to this show with a dull Celine. I miss the passionate Celine She needs a break!! I'll have to disagree with anyone who says her voice seems to be getting tired though because in LV I noticed her voice sounded better than I have ever heard it before..its soulful. I love it. I would love to live Celine's life but I guess it could get exhausting after so many years. I wish she would take some time to herself. heartssong Posted November 11, 2007 at 08:32 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 08:32 PM I am in shock. I never realized how unhappy Celine was. A friend of mine told me this morning while we were on our way to church that she had heard that Celine and Rane were getting a divorce, and I told her that I thought they were quite happy and that it had to be a terrible rumor. But was I wrong? Is Celine more of a work horse to Rane than a wife? She said that she wanted him to be more of a husband than a manager and that she dreaded her manager. Rane is her manager and her husband. Has Celine been putting on a good front all this time? Rane said that he would be more of a husband after the world tour. Well, what about now? It sounds like Celine neds a husband, not a manager. I am truly sad and I am crying inside for Celine. I feel so sorry for her, and her husband needs to open his eyes and take better care of his wife if he is the one in the wrong. Quote Celine: vocal perfection at its best.

Really good point.I guess I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions and started talking about Raene like that. I was curious and did a google search and a recent article from Newsweek popped up. Here's the link:http://www.newsweek.com/id/67927 She doesn't seem down or depressed here. She seems worried about her performance, but that is normal for any performer, especially when you know your voice isn't what it normally is, and you don't feel good. Could this have possibly been a fictional article? If someone did this to possibly sabitage Celine, that is quite a low blow and terribly cruel. Then again, it is possible that she was having a terrible day. Still doesn't explain Raene's response though. Quote Celine: vocal perfection at its best.

nrcda88 Posted November 11, 2007 at 10:31 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 10:31 PM its understandable how translations can get put in a whole new meaning than what was originally said but the fact that is still the same is Celine needs some time for herself. its sad reading that article.. as much as i love Celine as a person and as an artist i think this tour is not a good idea. at least not so soon after vegas. we all know she pushes herself to get things done(as was said in For Keeps) but what's the cost of it? it was great to hear that she was doing a new english album & doing a tour.. but honestly i find she should've waited & taken a break after A New Day wraps. recent pics show she's not the happy Celine we know its clear she's tired. if she were to retire tomorrow i'll be happy for her.. yes i and everyone else will miss her but she'll be happy with her family and having a normal life that she wants so much. angelataylor Posted November 11, 2007 at 10:38 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 10:38 PM Hi, think what it must be like, when your every word is scrutinised!! maybe on a bad day, when she was tired, emotional and down she gave this interview and - knowing the medias way with perhaps stretching things just a little - it comes out sounding as if she is completely fed up with everything and wanting give up!! But we all have our off days, days when, even when we are doing the things we love, we could just scream in fustration because it is not going right and say we don't want to do it any more!!! please, please don't read into this one article such fatalistic ideas. With reference to celine saying 'if she could do things over' etc.... haven't we all got/done/chosen things in the past that, if we had our time over we might not have chosen the same path again? yeah it might not have been what she might have chosen if she did it all again, but that is NOT the same as saying you wish it had never happened. Yeah, maybe she feels she needs a rest, maybe she feels that she has been pushed into touring too soon after finishing vegas - maybe that is what is at the heart of her feeling down?! but i couldn't believe how many people replying to this post were taking what she was saying as her talking about her actually retiring?!?! maybe she will maybe she won't - but surely it is too early to start speculating in this fashion (my opinion only! ) Angelaxxx Quote
Frozen_Phoenix Posted November 11, 2007 at 10:56 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 10:56 PM Somehow this interview seems weird to me. I could understand if she's in real need for a break but I doubt very much that she would criticize Rene in an official interview like that. I also think that it would be really sad if she would really look at her own life like that. Still this interview makes me sad and somehow I hope that she'll say very soon that she didn't mean it like that in the interview because otherwise sitting in her concert would make me feel lousy because I would feel like somehow harming her. Because of people like us, the fans, she has the pressure to tour this would mean that we do more harm than good and that again wouldn't be such a nice feeling. Kerry Elizabeth Posted November 11, 2007 at 11:09 PM Posted November 11, 2007 at 11:09 PM LOL! I don't take this article seriously at all! First of all, If you read "For Keeps" it was Celine who asked her mother for the career. Her mother never pressured her into that. Second of all, I dont know how much I believe about this whole Rene and Celine thing. I think they are both very supportive of each other and like most couples they have disagreements. How can he not remind Celine of work?? He is her manager! That doesn't mean he makes her work. Everyone always says that Celine is suprisingly very independent. I am sure is she didn't want to work, she wouldn't. As for the tour, her son and mother are going with her. This article sounds very strange and misleading. Yes, of course it is. For us fans will be the end of the world, but when we love someone, we gotta learn how to let go... Truly, I don't think Céline's heart is completely on this. celinerific Posted November 12, 2007 at 01:32 AM Posted November 12, 2007 at 01:32 AM Awwwe. Poor Celine. She should've chosen to launch the tour a bit later in the year. She needs a well-deserved break. But in full-out honesty, I think this article is quite overexggerated. The facts have obviously been altered and/or misinterpreted (and/or badly translated). Celine wouldn't lash out and blame Rene for no apparent reason... And like someone said, Celine's mom wrote her a song because Celine said she wanted to sing for the rest of her life. And Celine's just not one to dwell on depressing thoughts. By what I've seen so far, she actually seems really excited about this tour. I remember her saying something like she knew it'd be a lot hard work, but it would be an amazing, exciting, and enjoyable experience, especially with the people she loves by her side, and being able to return to Canada (I love that part! ) I think the interview just happens at a time she feels depressing, everyone would have moments like that. But I highly doubt she would quit forever right after the tour.Ditto, ditto, ditto.Everyone has those days where they feel like they just want to crawl into a hole and live with rodents for the rest of their life. It's part of living. Everyone has their ups and downs, and Celine's just human too. Quote http://i58.tinypic.com/2qbub9c.png @ErikaTran | Insta: aireexwp | erikatran.com
