OMG......fantastic photo's.........well done everyone......

I dont like the white blousey thing and pants......makes her look too skinny, and she looks fab in that purple dress, but not so sure it looks great for a concert, its just way to dark for the stage, but everything else looks perfect....

well done to steve [you look a bit like kev].....for meeting Celine

My Review....

 

What an amazing night! There were a few dramas, but I'll get into that in a min.

 

Celine looked and sounded amazing! The stage set was stunning, it all flowed together perfectly there were lifts, revolving pedastals, treadmills and some AMAZING projections! The Fashionista one where we saw Celine as a model in front of and behind the camera, and a hot sweaty Celine with what looked like sand all over her were stunning!

 

The TC seats I had were amazing I was in BLK G row D and anyone who is worried about missing a lot of the action when she's the other side of the stage fear not! There were TV screens all around the base of the stage so you could see. Ok it's not the same thing but it was cool to have. The catwalks up to the tiered seats were very good. You guys wil be so close!

 

Alone, ABM, TT and My Love were vocal perfection she sounded awesome! SOL didn't come accross that well which was strange as it's one of my favs' and it's a reall dance stomer of a song. Still it was cool to hear it live. There wasa sound glich witht eh bass on that track it was so wierd, my whole body vibrated. RDMH was amazing with the same outfit from the AND show, well it looked like it anyway. Loved the new mix of I'm Alive.

 

EOM was great but I felt it was a little slow. Could be becasue we are used to the faster mix's now. The Queen section was cool, WWRY had the entire cast strutting around the stage, I thought it worked really well. Celine even asked if we wanted to go on tour with them, I of course screamed YES! . TSMGO earned her another ovation, simply amazing. Even LCMM was cool. Much better than the AND version. The encore was expected (MHWGO), but the way the stage was set really made it a special performance. The show lasted about an hour and 45 mins.

 

As for what was live and what was not, I think it's near impossible to tell to be honest IDAN was the most obvious one.

 

Thomas where were you seated? I think I ust have been just behind you as I faced the piano as well.

As for the dramas... It tooke me TWO hours to get into manchester, it should take just under an hour traffic was a nightmare! The wait to actually get into the MEN was a farce! There apparently had been a problem with ticketmaster printing the wrong tickets or something. We waited 45 minutees to pick our tickets up

The atmosphere was great, but did anyone get any trouble for standing up? Our BLK (G) had pockets of people standing up and we kept getting told to sit down by some people from behind. Then a steward came to ask my freind and I to sit down, I said well if you can get all the people in front of me to sit then I will. She knew there was nothing she coulkd do so left us be. But we still kept getting hassle form the folks behind. I was on the ailse so maybe we were the easy targets. We did sit when the people in front of us did. I still don't get why the people behind couldn't stand up.....? That sort of put a downer on things.

 

 

Did anyone else have trouble?

 

Oh and my camera boke!! I had amazing seats and couldn't take ANY pictures!!!!!!!!!! The screens came on and took one picture of that and that was it! ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!

 

Anyway it was an amazing show! Hope I can get seats for later, if not bring on Paris!!!

Celine Dion @ M.E.N. Arena

 

WHOEVER said "less is more" reckoned without Celine Dion.

 

For her, more is never quite enough.There is always another crashing chorus or cataclysmic change.

 

As two 20,000-strong crowds at the MEN Arena discovered, she can do a Jim Steinman song more beefily than Meat Long and a Queen song more histrionically than the late Freddie Mercury.

 

Celine does not so much sell a song as ram it down your throat and staple the bill to your forehead.

 

All of which has helped her shift over 200m albums and made the 40-year-old Canadian the biggest-seling female artist in the world.

 

It's been almost ten years since Dion ventured out into the wider world. Half of that time was given over to motherhood and the other half to a 600-show residency in Las Vegas which made even Elvis seem like a slouch.

 

She arrives back in the UK with her titanic pipes in fine fettle and with an in-the-round show whose non-stop visuals and choreography has the high-gloss meaninglessness of Cirque du Soleil.

 

Big-lunged

 

It's easy to criticise her as hammy and overwrought. You could say much the same of great dramatic divas like Barbara Streisand and Liza Minelli. But there are many moments when even the sceptic is wowed by the voice which, for big-lunged power and control, has no present-day peer, with the possible exception of Christina Aguilera.

 

There was some so-so new material to wade through. Eyes on Me is like one of Shakira's leftovers. Taking Chances is a by-the-numbers big ballad.

 

But Dion's reading of Steinman's It's All Coming Back To Me Now was a towering pile of kitsch with a glace cherry on top.

 

All By Myself was one part Eric Carmen, one part Rachmaninov and three-parts schamltz, but delicious with it. When the band stopped and Dion emoted her way to the high-risk key change, it was less a feat of singing and more like an Evel Knievel stunt.

 

Finale

 

Think Twice remains a turbo-charged power ballad, and the Titanic theme My Heart Will Go On - which should by rights now induce global seasickness - was an impressively staged finale with Dion raised up on a plinth surrounded by candles.

 

Queen's The Show Must Go On might have been made for Dion, though her version of James Brown''s It''s a Man's Man's Man's World was about as odd a choice as Tom Jones singing Stand By Your Man.

 

Celine is a curious figure. Stick-thin, it seems as if all the nourishment goes to sustaining that monster voice. Her strange range of facial expressions mean that songs conclude either with a Peter Beardsley-like gurn or a looked of pained weariness which says "I've given my all".

 

But like her or loathe her, there is no denying that Celine Dion is one of a kind.

The point bothering me, as I love getting into hidden meanings, would be what is the meaning behind two songs IDAN and MHWGO, both Vegas versions. I so don't want that they sum up the gorgeous night but one is left with a sordid aftertaste considering the brackets are Vegas, the innards are TCH tour.
