JessCC Posted March 27, 2008 at 04:58 AM Posted March 27, 2008 at 04:58 AM Ohh.. That's common. Blake did that too last year, with one of the songs. The judges said it was original and very good (blah, blah) but turns out, HE didn't do the arrangements. He just took it off from someone else who had already done it before. That's normal... Not surprised. Chris Daughtry also did that before during his season. OK controversy is that his version that people thought HE made up he actually took from someone else and it's VERY similar. Someone accused him of swiping another song that he did a different version of. He got kudos from the judges for being "original" however the versions he sang were not original at all. So that's the "controversy". Quote
celines_girl Posted March 31, 2008 at 02:56 AM Posted March 31, 2008 at 02:56 AM I hope David Cook does well. He is so great and I liked all of his performances so far. The cool thing is he also went to my University. He graduated in 2005 so I never knew him, but his brother still goes here. incognito Posted March 31, 2008 at 11:18 PM Posted March 31, 2008 at 11:18 PM I like David Cook. I loathe Carly Smithson. Quote
Jeffieboi Posted April 2, 2008 at 12:55 AM Posted April 2, 2008 at 12:55 AM I swear, Simon has something shoved up his *ahem* "rosebud" tonight. It's so obvious that when many of the contestants sing amazingly and he only compliments one of them...that he's trying to manipulate the voting. Quote
karatedude317 Posted April 2, 2008 at 01:19 AM Posted April 2, 2008 at 01:19 AM I swear, Simon has something shoved up his *ahem* "rosebud" tonight. It's so obvious that when many of the contestants sing amazingly and he only compliments one of them...that he's trying to manipulate the voting. HOLY CRAP I was actually thinking something along those lines myself tonight! I actually thought to myself "does he have a freakin hemroid problem tonight, someone needs to throw him some Preparation H". He needs a gf or somethin I don't know, but he was crabby and unfairly so in my opinion. I DID like that he complimented David Archuleta though, he and Michael John got the best compliments. I don't think he's trying to manipulate the voting though, because it's clear that David A would get most of the votes anyway, people certainly don't need Simon to tell them to vote for David, most will anyway. I do agree he needs to lighten up a bit lately. Paula, she needs to stop the drugs or the meds because as each week progresses, as much as I like how nice she's being to everyone, she's making very little sense at times. Quote
Jeffieboi Posted April 2, 2008 at 02:19 AM Posted April 2, 2008 at 02:19 AM Karate, you're definately right that the two that he complimented deserved his praise tonight, but so did other people...mainly my favorite...Carly Smithson. Her voice is STUNNING! It's just such a beautiful sound, and her performace was amazing. Of course with my luck she'll go home, but I pray she doesn't...because her voice is so beautiful. Plus she's from Ireland so I could listen to her talk all day, lol. Quote

Plus she's from Ireland so I could listen to her talk all day, lol. COMPLETELY agree with you about Carly. If she's the only female left I'd be very happy about that, and being half Irish (the other half Italian. lol) I do like that she comes from Ireland and I like the accent too. Her voice is amazing, better than the other women although Sayesha comes in a close second. Carly did really well last night, and I don't think Simon's comments about her appearance were appropriate either. At least she had clothes ON. People who are stars today practically wear nothing these days. As for the guys, Archuleta or Cook, but I lean more toward Archuleta cuz he's all around just a humble cool person ( I know u don't think he's that cool but then again I'm not that cool either. lol) but if Cook won I'd be happy too. This is why I don't vote because I always have trouble picking one of the three or four I think should win. Quote
karatedude317 Posted April 2, 2008 at 09:26 PM Posted April 2, 2008 at 09:26 PM DAVID COOK WAS HOSPITALIZED LAST NIGHT for high blood pressure and heart palpitations. I guess the nerves get to you after awhile. Let's hope he'll be ok! Quote
KimboCosmo Posted April 2, 2008 at 09:36 PM Posted April 2, 2008 at 09:36 PM My fav is Brooke White Quote http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/2765/48940711.png "You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep, because reality is finally better than your dreams." Visit Celinerific.com today!
LuisMa Posted April 2, 2008 at 09:58 PM Posted April 2, 2008 at 09:58 PM Here's my ranking of this week's Top 9: 1. David Archuleta: "Smokey Mountain Memories": He gave me chills this week. What an amazing performance and a beautiful song. I have replayed it like crazy. The best of the night. 2. Syesha Mercado: "I Will Always Love You": Even when I have listened to this song a gazillion times, and I was like NOOOO not again, she did an awesome job with it. She looked stunning. 3. Michael Johns "It's All Wrong": Wow! He sang his heart out on this one. Very well done. 4. Kristy Lee Cook: "Coat Of Many Colors": She was good, but she was in her element: country music. IMO her best so far. 5. David Cook "Little Sparrow": I did not like this song as much as I have enjoyed his past performances, but he will definitely go far. 6. Carly Smithson "Here We Come Again": It was ok, but a little boring for me. That's one of my favorite Dolly Parton songs ever. 7. Ramiele Malubay "Cross Your Mind": The low notes gave her a problem, but I did not hate her performance. She is ranked at the bottom on DialIdol. 8. Brooke White "Jolene": There are weeks I love Brooke, others I hate. This was one of the latter. And her attitude is getting on my nerves. 9. Jason Castro: "Travelin' Thru": I was sooo upset when Dolly did not get the Oscar for this song. Now, I am upset of seeing the same Jason every single night. I think he will be eliminated soon if he doesn't pull off a surprise. Quote
aicee Posted April 2, 2008 at 10:01 PM Posted April 2, 2008 at 10:01 PM Yes, I do watch AI. I like Karly Smithson (not sure about her name spelling) LOL. Since one of her fav singers is Celine, I think Karly and all of us here has something in common. "Celine". Quote
Black Kitten Posted April 2, 2008 at 11:23 PM Posted April 2, 2008 at 11:23 PM For some reason, I think Archuleta's charisma is slowly fading away... I don't know if that's because I wasn't impressed by his last 3 performances. Archuleta remains my favorite but he need to showcase his versatility more. And David Cook is getting stronger every week, and so is Kristy Lee Cook. Quote
Jeffieboi Posted April 2, 2008 at 11:35 PM Posted April 2, 2008 at 11:35 PM (edited) Dhena, I completely agree about Kristy Lee Cook. I just wish she would stick with her upper register though, because her higher notes are beautiful. And WHAT?!!! David Cook was hospitalized?...*looks for article* Well what do you know...he WAS hospitalized. Glad he's okay though. Edited April 2, 2008 at 11:37 PM by Jeffieboi Quote
JP Posted April 2, 2008 at 11:40 PM Posted April 2, 2008 at 11:40 PM The 3 previous week were pretty hard for my idols, i lost my 2 favorites 2 weeks in a row.. David Hermandez & Amanda Overmyer.. But i still love Michael Johns and Syesha Mercado!I discover David Cook last week with Billie Jean, he was ok for me but yeah, he get stronger every week!! I love the song's choice of Carly Smithson but for me, she's never better than the original.. He's ok now just a little high BP which c'mon it makes sense, that's a very stressful gig. He's young too so to have that problem already I hope he keeps that in check. He was on tonight so he's ok now. lol Quote
LuisMa Posted April 3, 2008 at 02:27 AM Posted April 3, 2008 at 02:27 AM Ramiele was eliminated tonight. Quote
Jeffieboi Posted April 3, 2008 at 03:23 AM Posted April 3, 2008 at 03:23 AM I can't say I'm suprised Ramielle went home. She's VERY good...but she's had some bad performaces. Go Carly! Quote

colossus-x Posted April 6, 2008 at 12:56 AM Posted April 6, 2008 at 12:56 AM In reply to initial tread question - yes I watch American Idol sometimes. I enjoying watching singing competitions in general especially the UK's X-Factor which is a fantastic show. Celine was amazing on the show last year when she sang Taking Chances. I must admit though to finding American Idol a real turn off solely due to finding the presenter of the show to be really irritating. I can't understand why this nobody from nowhere is allowed to present this show in a manner which gives the impression that he knows anything at all about music whatsoever or that his opinion on anything to do with anything whatsoever is of any value to anything or anyone. His confrontational attitude to Simon's comments it the most cringe-worthy spectacle we have to endure on TV. If that alone wasn't enough can anyone explain when he has to talk so bloody loud all the time. How could anyone think that this man brings anything of value to the show is beyond me. He tries to be funny and he isn't, he's obnoxious, asks dumb questions, and I don't enjoy watching him at all. He is VERY popular though and people love him. I'm not one of those people, sorry. Quote
