November show cancellations

Last July Kirstie and I saw, in addition to Celine, "O" and "Phantom" (oh and we saw Pink in concert too ) and I can recommend both of those shows for anyone looking for an alternative to Celine.

I think I may found the reason for the cancellations....yes "promotion commitments" can still be a reason, BUT, I found out something else that may be the BIG reason.

 

Read this:

 

BETTE MIDLER is currently rehearsing a big extravaganza she'll export to Las Vegas to take over from Celine Dion at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. When I was chatting Bette I couldn't quite understand whether she was saying her show would have "plenty of news" or whether she was saying "plenty of nudes" or whether she was saying "plenty of boobs." Anyway, she will most likely call it something like "The Showgirl Must Go On" and she'll bring back some of our favorite characters like Dolores del Lago the Toast of Chicago, the Mermaids, and "Sophie." She is also going to give the crowds who come to her 20 weeks a year "Night with Bette" a lot of brand new stuff. I asked Bette if she'll have large pianos flying across the stage overhead in the manner that Celine Dion does, but she just laughed: "That Colosseum -- it has lots of fun stuff to fool around with." Bette takes her rehearsals to Vegas in October and opens in February.

 

Céline is performing 9 shows in October until Oct 14 and then Elton takes over most of October. As Bette is rehearsing there by then, it must be taking place somewhere else. But....Elton's run ends on Nov 4th. I'm betting the Colosseum is vacant from that date on, for Bette to properly rehearse her show and they needed quite some time (meaning an extra week). I think thát's the reason for the cancellations.. and of course that would mean Céline would have an extra week to promote.

I think they're going to host the Comedy Festival again in Nov, too, but I can't find any dates for it...

I`m so sorry you guys I was going to get tickets for that week too, but I guess I`m glad I didn`t. As for the Cirque shows I HIGHLY recommend 'LOVE'. It was excellent. We had second row seats (on a Monday night) and I was just in awe. Its amazing what those dancers can do. My gf and I are going to try and get tickets for Zumanity in September, we already have tickets for Celine, let`s hope she won`t cancel then too

I heard back from TEAM CELINE and the reason I was given was this.......

 

"Scheduling comittments". Talk about vague!! This is disgusting these comittments should have been factored in before the shows went on sale.

 

I'm still extremly angry about this and replyed to TC telling them that not everyone can reschedule.

Yeah, really vague... It's worth the try but not that I think they'll listen to the complaint...

Yes, my partner & I were very disappointed as we had November tickets. BUT!!, we have since split up and I'm going alone in September - scored single seats for three straight nights Orch 5 AA, Orch 3 AA and finally Orch 4 BB... need I say more? I'm gonna be Celine'd out !!

I feel sorry for you guys but I prefer her to promote the english album!

 

 

NO NO NO!! As much as I want a new English CD she can do this promotion the weeks before she is due back. I'm just waiting for the email from TM now. I can't tell you how upset and angry I am. This decsion should have been made before the lasst run of shows were posted. To post them, then sell tickets (which all sold out) and then cancel a whole week is just plain wrong.

 

I can't change anything as I've booked my hotel and flights seperarte. The hotel may be do-able but the flights if we change them or cancel them we would lose everything and not even get arefund. I've checked, and insurance won't pay out over something like this.

 

As much as I love Vegas the reason why I was going was to see the show before it ended.

go to lV anyway and see all the other shows like zumanity, O, le reve, andenjoyurself and u can come back for Celine

I'm quite ill about this...but I want to give some advice to those of you who may feel "stuck" about going Vegas.

 

In March when the show was cancelled, some ushers were out in front of the doors and handed me a sheet of other shows to go to. I ended up going to Mystere at Treaure Island, and it blew my mind. It really made me want to see ALL of Dragone's shows. He's brilliant. So I am thankful for Celine's show being cancelled in that one regard. Of course I would have rather of gone to Celine, but I saw a show that changed my life anyway.

 

So, if you have travel arrangements that you can't change, don't be completely bummed--and don't just not go because Celine won't be there...because there is a whole other world of shows out there--AMAZING shows. And the only thing that's getting me through this is that Celine will be world touring--and she's bound to come close to each of us. I'll forgive her then.

 

The week of Thanksgiving was really it for me. I can't change my plans for somone else--even if it is Celine.

sheesh, i know howyou must feel but why not just go on a differetn date. you only need to use a weekend like 1 saturday and ur already in usa. what if you were coming from europeor asia

I have to say, as the queen of celine cancellations and someone who has had a whole vegas trip ruined by celine's health..lol, I would be more confident about the show going on on nov 29 than probably any other date.

 

a] she tends to cancel at the tail end of a string of shows and nov 29 will be her first night back

 

b] before they pissed everyone off with the november cancellations, i'm sure they thought long and hard about exactly what days they needed off

 

I think you're in realllllly good shape actually. i think all the other dates this year are more vulnerable!

I won't lie... it sucks x10000000 when celine cancels on your whole trip and you're only there for her! vegas is an awesome place even without celine... but not when you're all depressed that she has cancelled! you can't enjoy it properly. haha. been there. but i don't think it'll happen to you - she'll perform, and it'll be worth all the stress right now!!

Cancelling if you ar eill is one thing, but to cancel beasue there's a change in your schedule is something entirly different! That is SO wrong and Celine and her team MUST realise that people have to plan for months to travel to LV so to cancel becasue of "scheduling conflicts" just isn't an option in my eyes!

 

I understand why people reading this are nervous. I'm still going to Vegas, I couldn't cancel even if I wanted to because the flights and everything are non refundable. I'll have a great time, but ATM I'm still very angry about this.

Yeah, that is right. i thought 1 year didn't sound right. i remember Celine shed a tear when she was giving her speech in January of 2004 at the Hollywood Walk of Fame... and everyone was really encouraging.
