November show cancellations

Well this would explain why the count down number on CD.com dropped 5 days in one day. I logged on a few days ago and the number had dropped several days so I was wondering why.

Me too - I thought celinedion.com had been their usual incompetent self and miscounted the dates in the first place

This is so rediculous! I'm sorry for you guys who have tickets. Granted, I will be happy to see Celine promote the albums, but not at the cost of you losing your tickets. I think it's disrespectful to cancel, when she already committed to those dates. It's one thing to cancel when she's sick, it's a completely different thing to cancel just to promote the albums. They should have thought about this before they released the schedule and tickets!

OMG! I'm so sorry for those of you with tickets then... my heart goes out to you.

 

I can't change anything as I've booked my hotel and flights seperarte. The hotel may be do-able but the flights if we change them or cancel them we would lose everything and not even get arefund. I've checked, and insurance won't pay out over something like this.

 

Speak to the airline direct, sometimes they can be understanding - although usually they will only bend because of a family emergency or sickness. You could extend the truth a little... good luck. Read the small print on your tickets before you speak to them, so you know your rights.

I really feel for you. Céline and her team may win over new fans with all the promotion, but it shouldn't be at the expense of existing ones. Is their attitude a case of "win some, lose some"? The whole thing stinks

Preach it sista! I totally agree with you Sarah. They should have anticipated this when they decided the album release dates. Many people have planned to make their first or last trip to Vegas to see Celine in November...and now, nothing but disappointment! I'm surprised that she isn't contracted to do a certain number of shows this year...with the cancellations and now this, her numbers are dropping quickly!

 

Good luck to all who had tickets, maybe send a letter to CDA or Caesars with your complaints!?!?!

 

And where is the countdown on CD.com? I can't find it....

I've got to say I'm very disappointed in them.

 

Celine has cancelled on me a lot (i think i'm cursed, seriously..), but it was always due to illness and I would be the last person to fault her for that. I'm the first person to defend her because I trust if she has cancelled it was because she had to. I have never once doubted her. And then I moved almost 3000 miles to vegas so it wouldn't be such a problem when she cancelled on me!! (not even kidding.. and she still cancels on me every other time I have a ticket. feel the love)

 

But... between the oscars cancellations (i had a friend who had to rearrange her whole trip and pay more $$ because of that one) and these november ones... I'm sorry. Even though these cancellations are supposedly better because at least you have time to rearrange your trip or choose not to go, etc... I think they're just so much worse because it is showing their complete disregard for the fans (in favor of what? more exposure? a couple more tv interviews? she's celine dion for chrissake, if you don't know her by now..) and it's making Celine and her team look extremely bad.

 

I really want to know what the hell interview or 10 minute tv spot she is going to have during that 5 days that they can't do without or she can't get around to in the WHOLE MONTH she is already off before the Nov dates she cancelled. It's their choice to go nuts this year with albums. They could do it next year. But, it's all about money. They know they can get her lots of press already with the ~*end of vegas*~ It's good PR and they just want to capitalize. I can't fault them for that. Give her some hot new albums to promote when she has everyone's attention anyway. Work this last year for all it's worth. But to start screwing the fans?? It was their mistake to schedule those dates and sell them out, and they should suck it up and do them. I don't care if she screws Caesars Palace... but she needs to honor her committments when it directly affects her fans.

 

I hope whatever it is they plan to do during the five cancelled days will make what they've done worth it... but i just don't know. If it's for some other reason besides album promotion, maybe I'll understand it more. Maybe I'm way off base with this whole post. I'd really like to run into Rene and ask him about it. Maybe there's a great explanation I'm not thinking of.

 

I love Celine to death and I don't even have tickets for those shows, but I can't say I can respect their decision right now. I feel for you guys. It's not free to change flights and so on..

I've asked myself too, why would they cancel a week of shows. Couldn't they think of that before they planned them? Obviously not, something came up that they couldn't refuse. There must have something come up that is absolutely nescessary or it's an offer or opportunity they can't refuse. It could be anything. I think she cancelled an entire week of shows in February as well for the Oscars.

 

Whatever the reason is it still sucks for the fans that planned on going in that week and I am sorry for all of you, I know wat it feels like, Céline cancelled on me in april 2006 even though it was due to illness.

 

The shows in Vegas are obviously no longer her priority, she's looking to the future and is ready and eager to spread her wings again, I can only applaud that and support her for 100% as always but please Céline no more cancelling! PLEASEEE

Whether or not Vegas is coming to a close, and whether or not she has a new album coming out, A New Day should still be her priority.

 

She made the commitment to do it this long, and to push it aside for her next project is extremely unprofessional.

^^ No that won't be it becasue the tickets have been on sale for two months or so now. But you are right about the no officilal confirmation" thing though. I keep hoping they are just udating the sites and for the moment that info is missing. Long shot I know!

LOL That would be the perfect excuse in my opinion but it's definately not it...there's just too much going on for a baby to be on the way! Plus she would have shouted it from the rooftops. There is NO way Céline would be planning a worldtour if she had a baby on the way. Plus you can't plan births... RC for example was three weeks early...

 

Caesars and Céline shouldn't treat their costumers and fans like this...

This is not good news if it is true! I feel bad for all of the people that took the time to buy their tickets in advance and plan their trips, etc. I hope the cancellation is for a very good reason, but I'm not even sure if album promotion would count as a good reason. The dates are obviously not cancelled due to any illness. I guess they figure that they've done an extra year of shows and millions have seen her show, so they can afford to cancel a few dates, but since it's the end of her Vegas run you know that a lot of people want to be at the last few months of shows.

Millions might have been to see her these past 4 years, but there ARE still people who haven't EVER seen her...take me for an example...I've been a devoted fan for 15 years, and I like to think I deserve to FINALLY see my idol live. Call me whatever you want...selfish or whatever...I don't care, this is just how I feel. I've saved up this money for a YEAR to be able to be there. My show didn't get canceled (November 29th), but it still makes me uneasy about the whole thing. Who's to say she won't cancel even more shows after what she's already done? My heart truely does go out to the ones that this affected. I understand and I would be in a panic if that were to happen to me/does happen to me. Yes, I understand that other things are important, but if you are mature enough to hold a show, and commit to a FINAL year of AND, then be mature enough to actually FINISH what you've started. And also, Celine may not totally be in control of this situation, but I just wish she would THINK about her devoted fans, and the people who HAVE been around all these past years, and who really are the ones who put her where she is today. I agree with you. I can understand the feelings many are going through. I've seen her many times and would feel totally let down if the concert was pulled on me for other commercial reasons. I was planning Vegas that week as well but changed it to Dec 4th - 7th which I am really glad I did as it would have been a wasted trip from the UK. I hope TC will issue a statement soon to explain why this has happened. If it is to promote the new English album then they could do that via video-links etc. And I'm sure her management knew well before the dates for Vegas were announced (and sold) that a new album was on the cards and therefore should have said at that point that she wouldn't be available for Vegas. Albums are planned well in advance and do not happen overnight.

Some people will have difficulty finding that extra, whatever the amount. If the show is cancelled due to illness, that's one thing but this is completely different. Céline shouldn't have agreed to add the extra year to her contract if this is how she is going to treat her fans.

Well the airline I booked with won't offer changes or refunds. They are classed as "booking cancellations". If we cancel we lose all the air fare that we've already paid for (£330 to be exact!)

I did manage to get an offer of swapping the flights after much pleading but they will want and extra £90 each. There are four of us going so that's like nearly £400 extra on the holiday. Add to that the penalty if we change or swap hotel rooms it's gonna cost a lot more money to go earlier or later and there's no certainty we'll get tickets for other shows as I know a lot sold out quickly for the final run. So basically if this is official (still waiting to hear though!!!! ) it looks like a Celine free Vegas holiday . Don't get me wrong I'm sure we'll still have a great time but it's ruined it a little and I'm so gutted!!

I agree completely! Thank God i put off a little my trip, because my first thought was going on the days of the cancelations... For me I guess It'd be ok, as I'm spending almost a month in Vegas and could see AND antoher day... But I really feel fustrated for you who got tickets for those days...

It is really bad that no official notification has been given as of yet.

 

We have to be careful to assume that she's cancelled purely for promotional reasons though. She might have a family commitment or something to go to on the other side of the world that cannot be changed. People take time off work all the time for these sorts of things.

I called the box office to assure that my ticket was still on (Nov 29th) and they told me yes, only before that had been canceled, and that will be her first night back from being off. But I'm still sketched about it, because she could very well just decide to call off the rest of the shows for all we know!! The box office will not give a reason. Oh well, who knows...maybe someone in her family is having MAJOR surgery or something...brain transplant...lol I don't know....

The shows are officially canceled. The supervisors announced it at preshift last night. The only explaination they gave was it was due to a scheduling conflict. That's all I know...

Yeah it's not a good thing if you've planned a trip, spent the money and then find out shows are cancelled.

The only positive thing for the known November cancellations is that people now know in advance, so they did not end up traveling to LV for nothing. But the bad part is you can't really reschedule to another date, unless it's in December. I would think that people that are safe for the other November dates, but I do think they should have honored the commitment to doing these shows.
