Ben Moody is recording Celine Dion?

Since leaving Evanescence in 2003, songwriter-producer-guitarist Ben Moody has been busier than ever, having worked on albums by multi-platinum singers like Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne. Now Moody is adding another female to his production portfolio, Canadian powerhouse Celine Dion. The two are heading into the studio in March to work on three tracks for her upcoming album, he told us at the Clive Davis party.

I find it amazing that the names we haven't heard associated with this album yet are the ususals of David Foster, Humberto Gatica, Rik Wake etc etc etc, you know who they are.

 

It seems, certainly at this stage, that Celine is going for an entirely new and fresh team of people and I for one think it's a great move.

 

I seriously cannot wait to hear her new English material later this year.

What a great good new!!! That's extacly what celine needs. New frresh songs, by younr producers and song writer. People starts to consider her "too old", her music is only for adult contemporaney charts, her videos are no more played on tv. that's not right...she has the biggest potential of all time, she is one of the greatest singer...why throw it all away.

It's time Sony Music to open the eyes and for Celine too, we are in 2007, you can just record and album and expect people buy it, no more, you have to be around always, u need a big promotion, videoclips that looks like movies, you have to show all your "power" in show business, otherwise it doesn't matter who u are, you're out!

 

So lett's really hope 4 this new albums...Ben Moody is a good writer...cross our fingers guys!!!

i think she will do just fine on this album, and that it will sound wonderfull...

 

they will write rock sounding songs, for celine dion, and r&b songs for celine dion...

 

not for Evanescence, not for Avril, not for Nelly, not for Snoop Dogg...

 

just for celine dion, so they will sound great, and it will definately fit her...

My Immortal was immensely popular. Because of You, another powerful ballad -two good reasons why Céline would want to collaborate with Ben Moody. Both songs had mass appeal so hopefully this will be the album that will bring Céline back on the charts, especially in the US.

This is good news. I've always like Evanescence. Maybe, a duet with Amy Lee, doubt it. But anyway, I'm glad that it sounds like her music is going to change a little. I've been waiting for this for a while. BTW, I love that song "Hallelujah", I don't know who it's by, but it's on the Shrek soundtrack, she could sound amazing doing that song. Maybe.

I am really looking forward towards October!! Well 2007 is gonna be Celine's year!! HEHE, since it's gonna be my year too. Celine is the best. I'm really looking forward for a mixture of powerful ballad, rock music in her album.

cant say i havent wished celine would sing evanescence-esque songs when the band comes up on mtv.... i could see huge, million buck vocals on some hard rock.... mayeb like the reason or better....

 

 

well i am beginning to feel this album is shaping up to be like ANDHC... a mix of so mnay genres, a rather well manufactured album if u must....

 

cant be too bad... except... if its too transcendent it might risk getiing unnoticed....

The only thing that worries me is that Celine is working with producers AFTER other people have rather than finding new things no one else has done (in English)

 

Like Britney, BSB, NSYNC and MANY worked with the Swedish team first

One Heart to me was a bit dated quite 90's ish when it came out.

 

Similarly Whitney and Mariah have already done the rnb DIVA thing.

 

Kelly Clarkson has done the rock thing which although good Avril did it first. Pink and Anastacia all do rocky edged pop. Celine isnt really doing anything new. Just copying what has already been succesfull.

 

We need her to do something completely that no one else has done or stick to what she is good at by doing top quality A/C stuff with an edge.

 

She has done the "cool" stuff and its not that well received because the production team always hold back a bit. They experiment but never go too far out there. They try too appeal too much to the masses. She cant get away with doing something too cutting edge without alienating many fans so no matter how "different" for Celine it is. It will still be very middle of the road.

 

I'd love for this album to be very different and it sounds promising and I know Celine can pretty much sing anything BUT it needs to sound classy and not plasticky and not just 2007 versions of pop with rock edge that Avril, Kelly etc has already done or rnb ballads that Mariah has already done. Needs to be FRESH and NEW...EXCITING

 

Anyway - I hope my worries are all for nothing and Sony and Celine will put together something fantastic!

I want Celine sing some Evanescence kind of rocky ballad for a long time. Her voice in it would sound much better than Amy Lee.

Well it's also very possible she's just going to record a whole bunch of songs (with different people) and at the end decide which songs are going to be on the album, which songs fit the album, and which not..

wow, this is good news. I like the songs this Ben Moody has worked on, and with Céline, they can create some kind of new sound for 3 english songs.

 

Btw, it hasn't been confirmed that it's going to be an RnB album, has it? Where did that rumor come from? I honestly don't see Céline doing an RnB album. Maybe a few songs in that direction, but that's as far as I see it going.

Apparently, R&B artosts/songwriters/producers like Ne-Yo & Michael Cox are going to write for her, so.... But we'll see, Céline's very good in surprising us!

I love rock and I was dying to listen to her singin that for sooo long. But I still wanna R&B tracks. And sorry, but I think people can connect R&B with Rock and make a great album. An example? Christina Aguilera - Stripped. It was a great album in my opinion, and I don't like her at all.

I think this is good news but I agree with Col- that hopefully they don't just don't do an album of Avril, Britney, Whitney and Mariah cast-off songs...I want them to push the boat out to give her a Celine sound- not just a random mix. If you read the iTunes reiew of ANDHC I hope they can achieve all of that again.Celine Dion can sing anything but she has to really go for it...and if it's good, it'll be fabulous and her fans will love her for going for it.

And about working with Ben, i guess it's just fantastic!! I love the songs Ben did while in Evanescence and I really think Céline can show all the power she has through his songs!!

And about the mixture of things, I guess Céline is finally doing something the way she wants too. And if it sounds something like "A new day has come" it for sure will become one of my favorite albuns!
