Ben Moody is recording Celine Dion?

Since leaving Evanescence in 2003, songwriter-producer-guitarist Ben Moody has been busier than ever, having worked on albums by multi-platinum singers like Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne. Now Moody is adding another female to his production portfolio, Canadian powerhouse Celine Dion. The two are heading into the studio in March to work on three tracks for her upcoming album, he told us at the Clive Davis party.

OMG! wtf is this album going to be like!? It's like a compliation of hard rock, rnb, classical and of course pop!

i love his sound!! all spirtual and rocky and he would be able to get the best out of celine...u can expect her to sing those song on a high key and hit some powerful notes

But it sounds good so far. I would wish she'd go either for RNB or rock. But they truly truly don't mix.

Wow Great news. it seems like Celine is rassembling all the different talents in the music industry!! That's cool. The english album will be complete: r'n'b' + classical (IKILY) + rockish + pop...

think it would be a kind of ANDHC cd, all diffrent styles, but this time better producers, better music, better production, with songs blend perfectly togheter...

if they can put IKILY on this cd, they can also put an rockish song...

Unfortunately she still can't get producers right, even this time around.

 

Quincy Jones would bring out the best in her in smooth RNB-ballads all the way. It would be classic, but no she still has to have million hundred and twenty two producers on every of her English albums.

i just fear it's gonna be a very weird album...

it seems like each one of those producers will write 2-3 songs . we'll get many producers and diffrent sounds . u have to make a connection between the diffrent songs and styles and the only way to do it is by making it a concept album with a very clear theme . i also hope they will take 1 legendary producer who will control this entire project and connect between all the other writers and producers ...someone like quincy or even david .

 

we know one thing for sure regarding her upcoming english album - they want hits and they want it desperatlely i just hope we will get something worthy and not one big mess .

judging from the past they r usually sticking to those writers and producers from start to finish . celine was never one of those artists who record many songs from many diffrent writers each time she wanted to release an album...the ones who wrote her the music usually made it to the album too . yeahh diane warren stayed out once but that's because celine doesnt like her as a person .

 

i hope this time it's gonna be diffrent , maybe she'll change her work ethics and realize finally that she has the right to say NO to some of the producers if she doesnt like their songs...

She's recorded 26 songs for ANDHC and chose 16 to release. She will undoubtedly record around 30 this time arouns and again choose 15 or so that she likes the best.

 

And generally speaking by "no concept" I mean "no general direction" - her English albums don't have to be as focused as her French ones at all! Buuuuuuuuuuuut I would expect at least some idea of sound or lyrics or even adjectives: funky, modern, dance etc. In my opinion they are still searching. As gogo said they want a hit badly and judging from the past if Céline's wanted a hit badly it always always backfired (One Heart. Then You Look At Me or The Reason).

i think it's sad when we know that there are over 20 song and we get only 15... but i think that this album will be different because for the first time during vegas after ANDHC french album as well as english is really concerned and they are working on it very slow, not rush, carefully and not trush... these albums will be serious albums

25% wants well french music in english... or something else!

 

So you'll still end up with a diverse album

 

I listened to Addicted, really liked that one and Nobody's home... not so bad... but still not something Céline should record... it doesn't fit her... I'm sure she knows what she's doing and I'm sure I'm gonna love it... but I fear this album will be again a mixture of rock/rnb/power ballads and uptempo song

yes seb she chose 16 out of 30 for ANDHC but most of the songs that didnt make it to the album were written by the same people who already made it to the album with diffrent songs . so u see what i mean? it's like she is choosing her team and then she feels like she has to give them something , cant just tell them she doesnt want their songs after all the hard work they did - that's how i feel atleast .

NO which songs do you think Céline was pressured to do? I can't think of any! If Céline sings a song, she doesn't like... then you would hear that in the vocals!

celine recorded many songs only because sony thought it would be a huge hit...too many to count actually ...

and yes - she can choose only one song out of the 3 that each producer gives her but that's my point , she should have the nerve to hire 20 producers and at the end choose only 4 or 5 for the album . until now - it never happened and that's why i assume that it wont be diffrent now .

hmm I don't agree with you! Sure sony is the one who selects the songs (with her team) which are handed to Celine... but she makes the final cut! I cannot believe she would sing a song, because she has to sing it! You may think of me as naive... but I'm sure Céline doesn't work that way! If she really disliked MHWGO and said no... then no would be no! If someone else would make a hit with it, then she'll say ooh my bad... but good for the other singer!

 

Look at Ten Days... Céline really loved Tomber and believed in the song... eventhough ANDHC was already finished she pushed to record the song, and TD eventually kicked CWS of the album. That after that nothing happens with the song is Sony's fault My point is... Céline has to believe in the song... otherwise it won't happen! And it may come as a shock to you, Tal and Suir.... but maybe juuuuuuust maybe Céline actually liked Rain, Tax, When love is all we need, Real Emotion etc
