Celine Book Idea

OMG can't believe I've just seen this thread! Jennifer this is a superb idea and I love the layout you've already done, especially the 'distance to Vegas' part! Love all the other ideas too, think it would be great to have personal pages and some pages with collages of random pics of fans at Ceasars and round about in Vegas, and definitely some funny things since our Leeny is always up for a laugh! Hardback is probably the best, thought the spirals make it more like a diary. Either would be good though.

Jennifer, I'm not sure if this question was answered in this thread already, but I would like to know: Will there only be one book printed for Celine, or can some of us who wants this book, purchase one too?

Yep, it will be available for purchase if you like how it turns out and want a copy for yourself... shouldn't cost much, either, but I'll have a better understanding of that once I know how many pages this will be.

What I really want to know is: Some of us here actually work as designers or have experience in layout design; especially working with the medium of print and visual arts. Now I'm going to speak personally, if it would be possible for me, since I work in this field every day, if I could design my own page, but keep it consistent with overall design?

Weird question but how should we write the bit about our experience - should we call Celine by her name or say it as if were speaking to her in the first person (i.e. 'you')? What are you guys doing?

I think for now what she would like for everyone to do is send the following things to her e-mail address, which is provided in a previous post (you'll have to look for that, sorry!)

 

+ A photo of yourself while in Las Vegas

 

+ A ticket stub scan (if you'd like)

 

+ Any additional photos (so she can experiment with layouts)

 

+ Your first and last name

 

+ Where you live

 

+ How many times you've seen the show.

 

 

 

I think that's a list of all the things she had said. Like Elaine said, I think nothing it set in stone, she is still experimenting with some things like layouts and such.

Okay, so now that things are starting to settle down and almost everyone knows whether or not they are going to Vegas in December or not and where their tickets are, some people have expressed an interest in finally getting started on the book! So, for everyone interested, go ahead and send me your information. Marisa was right on in her last post about what you can send to me:

 

- First and last name

- Photo of yourself in Las Vegas

- Other Las Vegas photos of you

- Where you live

- Have you seen the show? How many times? When?

 

You are also welcome to send additional things such as ticket scans, etc.

 

Also, we will be adding additional photo sections such as people with Celine, Rene, dancers, Mego, etc... so send those as well! Also, there will be a photo section of fans together - fans meeting other fans from around the world - so send those in too!

I love this book idea and the ideas shared here have been fantastic! I would definitely love to take part in this project!

 

Jennifer has done a great job with the layout samples, they are awesome! I love the 'distance' thing and everybody's name as a title on his/her own page. With this layout and hardcovers, the book will be a nice thing to read and browse through, as it is simple yet informative about the fans from around the world who have seen the show. It's great with pictures and bits of information without too much text. The title suggestions have been great as well, and I think 'we don't say goodbye' should definitely be included somewhere, possibly on the last page. It suits so well as even though the show ends, we definitely won't say goodbye. 'A new day' would make sense in the main title. (A new day... you shook us all night long' was a fun suggestion!)

 

Anyway, I will send you Jennifer my information in a few days' time when I get to scan some photos/tickets.

Most people are writing a short little paragraph about their experiences with the show. You can write about what you liked about A New Day, what it means to you, who you've met there, how many times you've seen it, etc. Basically this is your little note to Celine about the show - we're showing her how much we've appreciated and enjoyed it.

 

Also, I would prefer that these letters be in English or French so that Celine will be able to actually read it.

I am WAAAYYY behind on this book project, but I would love to be involved!

 

I do not have any pictures of myself in Vegas from when I was there in 2005, but I am going the end of May and will be seeing the show May 24th and 27th. Can I wait to send pictures until after that trip? I want the pictures to be recent, as well as my thoughts and views about the show. I want to be able to compare the show from two years ago to now.

First of all, my computer completely broke and I lost everything... so I don't have my Photoshop layout templates for the book anymore. SO... I'm looking for new ideas! If you guys have ANY design ideas... either send me ideas, something you made, something you found online, ANYTHING you think this book should look like.

I've just seen this thread... can't believe me and my awful timing... well, I think is a great idea, I'll send you my things during this week.

 

I'm going to Vegas in December too, so if you want someone to help you in the quest of giving the book to Celine, count me in...

 

I made a book very similar to the one you're thinking of with letters from the spanish speaking fans, and took it to vegas last year, for her 25th career anniversary... I met one of the security chiefs, who happened to know celine, and he gave it to her personal assistant and she gave it to celine herself, then when I went back this year, he told me that celine loved the book, so it is possible to give it to her, you just have to find the right people... and spend a lot of hours outside the colosseum... hehe...

You know, I don't actually have a set space limit. I'm going to arrange everyone's pages differently - dependant upon how much they write and how many pictures they supply. So, just go ahead and write whatever you need.
