You think 2020 could have been the year...maybe 2025? I mean...I have it somewhere recorded on VHS, but who has a VCR anymore? I also remember the story about how she didn't like the way she sounded...but damn I think it was a great show! Fingers crossed for some day. you can convert vhs to dvd. Talking about that, does somebody has that on YouTube? LOVED that show. For being a crazy fan back than without social media or I think even decent internet MTV diary was Celine heaven with all the 'behind the scenes' Indeed. Even a Blu-Ray release could be possible... PuraVida Posted May 17, 2020 at 05:22 AM Posted May 17, 2020 at 05:22 AM (edited) It would be nice to have, but I found this to be her worst vocal era...probably ever. Her voice at that concert was like on helium, nasal-y, and thin. It sounds so different from Memphis, for example. Edited May 17, 2020 at 05:23 AM by PuraVida Quote
jpatdeleon09 Posted May 17, 2020 at 02:44 PM Posted May 17, 2020 at 02:44 PM (edited) It’s the EQ you can’t even hear the bass. So the EQ settings are high. They can apply sub bass on it. Editing to enhance the sound will be easy for them. They can even do a clean stereo surround sound like they did for Mariah’s concert videos. Edited May 17, 2020 at 02:45 PM by jpatdeleon09 Quote

Her voice at that concert was like on helium, nasal-y, and thin. It sounds so different from Memphis, for example. I strongly disagree. Her voice on that night might not have been quite as good as on other nights in 1999 but it definitely wasn’t the worst ever, not even close. It was better than in 2002-2005 or in recent years. As for the era as a whole, I would easily consider 1999 as a prime year for Céline. 2 Quote The best is yet to come...

As for the era as a whole, I would easily consider 1999 as a prime year for Céline. Okay, in 2002 she did the CBS special and sounded amazing. In 2004 she delivered some very stellar performances on Ellen, Oprah and on Jay Leno. All with healthy technique. In 2003, funnily enough her opening concert days of New Day reminded me of the 1999 concert...she sounds similarly as thin and nasal as she sounded there. Very little resonance to her voice. So perhaps those two years are on par...even though her range was better in '99. So 2003 perhaps is the worst. Would you disagree? Quote
jpatdeleon09 Posted May 17, 2020 at 11:27 PM Posted May 17, 2020 at 11:27 PM (edited) Where’s the full concert fancam of her LTAL 1998? It’s gone. I’m sure i have watched it last month. Now it’s gone. The only available that is in full version is her 1999 Milwaukee. Edit I saw it Her vocals is just so perfect. Her resonance is just amazing here. The proshot didn’t give justice as it sounded flat (i guess they misplaced the bass eq. No enhancements) that’s why this fancam is better Edited May 17, 2020 at 11:32 PM by jpatdeleon09 Quote

I might agree that 2003 is the worst but I don’t think the rest of that 2002-2005 period was much better. She did indeed have some amazing performances, like the ones you mentioned, but overall she wasn’t quite as consistently good as in 1999. Céline did say that she felt very tired during the Millennium Concert which explains the lack of resonance but other than that, her voice was really strong there. She sang “All by Myself” really well as well as many other very difficult vocals such as the ones in LCMM. Let’s also not forget about how amazingly she sang the French songs at the Millennium Concert (“Des mots qui sonnent” and CNQR come to mind). Also, if we’re talking about the 1999 era as a whole, we shouldn’t forget the incredible performance of “Le blues du businessman” or the amazing (amazingly resonant) performances of “My Heart Will Go On” or IACBTMN on the LTAL tour. I still think her voice was much stronger in 1999, an on many occasions, much more resonant too. Quote The best is yet to come...

I think Celine’s voice was in great shape but her technique faltered—the high note for ABM was up there and on key but sounded strange because of the nasality. She was using so little of her chest voice. It wasn’t necessarily bad, it just sounded a but off with a weird tone. Maybe her saline from Vegas created a similar effect later on...because she sounded great outside of Vegas during those 2002-2005 years. I’ll just put it this way, I think the worst of her 1999 days reflected the worst of her 2003 days as well. I think her voice in 97 and especially 98 were so much better, and I wish that they had done a pro recording of one of her LTAL concerts from ‘98. As I always say, that is my biggest gripe with her career lol. But she did have some great things she did at the Millennium concert for sure, notes and riff wise Edited May 18, 2020 at 08:41 AM by PuraVida Quote

celinefanonline Posted May 18, 2020 at 12:57 PM Posted May 18, 2020 at 12:57 PM ok for Millennium concert she was recovering from a cold, so she wasn't totally recovered yet that's why.... in 2002 her voice overall was good, and for 2003 at the beginning of AND show her voice was ok not too bad, but i guess cause of the amount of shows she did then, her voice just got worse / overused .... and after they cut down the shows her voice slowly recovers.. anyway plz release this concert..... include the preshow too which would be over 3 hrs long in total...if worry about the sales then maybe just offer it online in her website only or so, so this way they won't produce too many unsold 1 Quote Courage don't you dare fail me now!
Céline RO Posted May 18, 2020 at 02:55 PM Posted May 18, 2020 at 02:55 PM Well March (Juno Awards) and December are 9 months apart, enough to really make a transition. But she did have some great things she did at the Millennium concert for sure, notes and riff wise I think her voice in 1999 was just as strong as it had been at any time during the 1991-1998 period. It was different but it certainly was just as good. In fact, I would say that in 1999 her technique was the best it’s ever been. Her voice was extremely resonant and she was hitting the highest notes with ease. I don’t think her voice deteriorated at all throughout 1999 either. If anything, it may have even improved. Her best ever performances of MHWGO took place in September 1999 on the LTAL tour. The Millennium concert, which I think had amazing vocals, was probably the worst show that year, along with the Stade de France shows. These were exceptions (albeit incredible) to an otherwise very good year, which I would consider her prime, and a tour which I consider her best ever vocally. Quote The best is yet to come...

Tyler1991 Posted May 18, 2020 at 04:15 PM Posted May 18, 2020 at 04:15 PM (edited) I understand why the show has not been released. It has aged greatly in good respect, better than before. But at the time? It easily had the most "issues" of any show. The setlist and length were and still are the most appealing part of the show. This was coming off a release of acds which was similar enough. No need for the other they probably thought. Edited May 18, 2020 at 04:16 PM by Tyler1991 1 Quote

rfkavanagh Posted July 20, 2020 at 09:08 AM Posted July 20, 2020 at 09:08 AM Are we sure they shot the concert in HD? People tend to throw the term "HD" around a lot without really knowing what it means - not saying that's the case here (and the footage on YT does look good), but 1999 would have been very early to finish anything in full HD (1080p) for consumer release. As long as they shot on film it can certainly be done (and may have been done since), but if they shot on video there's no hope. 1 Quote

I remember The Corrs recorded & released 2 concerts from 1999 and 2000 and they were standard quality. At that time it was "sharp", but when you watch the shows right now (especially with all the (U)HD screens), it's definately just SD. 1 Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY
