"Taking Chances" album - Official Topic

I've said it before - Christina should have condensed that album into one solid disc. Two was TOO much and it came across concieted and rather annoying. Don't get me wronge, A LOT of those songs are great...but it should have been way cut down and the best ones should have been the only ones on her CD.

I don't know if the general public is ready for two full CDs of Celine's voice. Yeah, for us fans it would be amazing....but for this new English release to be widely accepted, I think it should be one solid CD with 16 tracks at the most. Leave your fans and the public wanting more, not feeling overwhelmed with TOO much of your voice.

So, in other words, I think one disc is certainly all we need. But a bonus DVD with lots of great footage would be fantastic. It would be great if this CD was widely popular, and there was a bonus disc with teasers of the DVD on it for promotion.

but Celine has never been a flop and 2 disc edition is better than putting everything together so close!

Not to be pessimistic but René won't release 2 disks :thumbsup2: But I'd love to

sorry to break it to u but christina's album is one of the biggest commercial flops of the year :msn-wink:

3 or 4 million copies is a flop?

from where did u take those numbers?one of her forums?

she sold 4 million copies from her CD just like celine sold 10 million copies from OH :mdr:

But all of Celine's cds are eclectic and mixed- ANDHC had everything. As the iTunes reiew says, it's nearly too perfect- it's so appealing to many different people. There's dance, soft-rock, RnB styled songs, big bombastic ballads and pure cheesy pop. How come everyone is getting their panties in a twist just cos there's a mix of different songs? Sorry For Love (original) and Goodbye's The Worst Song I Stupidly Released In The UK couldn't be more different. I don't want one cd of one style from any artist and especially not from Celine.

if the songs aren't good enough (cause as much as i loved some tracks from Back to basics, there were many i didn't like as well)

then they shouldn't be included in the album, but that has nothing to do with the 2 discs format...if the songs are too different and close to 20 they could have 2 discs with 8+ tracks on each

even if Back to basics was a flop which doesn't seem like one to me with 3,7 million copies sold why would the 2discs format be the reason and not the musical concept...

and you have to skip a track every 2 tracks ...

well some of us hoped for a much better album than ANDHC - ANDHC is representing alot of the things i dont like regarding her career in recent years and OH is ofcours much worse :shifty:

she can mix diffrent songs from diffrent producers and songwriters - why not? all i want is a concept , something deep . she can choose songs about the lost of her father and the fear of loosing the people she loves , she can choose a comforting concept and pick songs that would help people in their time of need , she can choose a concept of living your life like there is no tommorow and have fun - she can also choose more than one concept

I don't agree that Sony are "playing it safe" with this new album. By the information we have it's one of Celine's most risky and diverse albums of her career and I honestly cannot wait to hear the results. Even if it all turns out to be an absolute mess I will applaud her for trying different things.

how is it risky? they r putting all styles possible there so everyone will like it . doing a jazz album is risky , doing a full rock album is risky - mixing songs like always is nothing new and very safe .

Well, in my opinion, the people she is working with and the alleged styles of music she is recording for the first time make this a risky album. She's breaking free of the David Foster English album comfort zone syndrome which I think is brilliant.

Yeah she might still be recording ballads and whatever but she was never going to stop doing so.

To put it into perspective when I heard she was recording "Miracle" I didn't think to myself that's a risky move, same when I heard "A New Day Has Come" for the first time. However the news I'm hearing about this album makes it abundantly clear that Sony and Celine want to relaunch her in a big way using new styles and sounds. That, in mu opinion, makes it risky.

But I think it's fab!!

actually i had to skip none in miracle :P cause when you decide to listen to miracle you'll listen to lullabies and that's...ok

but when you listen to ANDHC the styles change so many times...when you listen to "i surrender" and then "at last" and then "super love" that's when you know something's off :P

shaun i love her ballads and i think she should never stop recording new ones HOWEVER she should put her ballads in a certain concept . she can sing rock , pop , soul on the same record but instead of just picking diffrent songs she should think about what she wants to say with her albums - talk about something real already! something personal! - she can sing about her family in a rocky way , in an RNB way , in a powerful way with her classic ballads . each concept can contain many diffrent styles

a new label for this album

by the way, Tori Amos has 23 songs in her lastest album...and is amazing  :mdr:

I totally agree! Don't forget though that Celine's last album in English was a concept album though so she can do it if she wants to. Don't you agree though that she seems to be more involved in this album than ever so perhaps the lyrics will be deep and meaningful other than telling us to "spread our wings to fly" once again!

The flip side of the coin though is that, however you look at it, Celine is marketed by Sony as a pop artist and generally speaking pop artists don't sing about serious issues, they sing songs that appeal to the masses. That's exactly what Celine does, we can live in hope though.

well shaun we still dont know just how involved celine is in this project...i still hope for few songs she co-wrote herself but one thing we already know for sure is that she is very excited about this album which is always great :thumbsup2:

i still expect this album to be a much better one than ANDHC and i'm not even talking about OH ofcours...i also still hope for a concept , atleast a general one and no i'm not talking about "love" or "fun" :giggle:

Look what I've found:

Momentum Media Group is pleased to announce the formation of its newest division--a record label.

From our work with Hollywood actors, celebrities and multimillion dollar companies we have chosen the music industry as the next great frontier.

MMG is proud to have Grammy Award Winning Producers, Jay Dudt and Hollis Greathouse, on our team.

Jay most recently won a grammy for a project with famed recording artist, Nancy Wilson. Another golden statue to add to Jay’s collection!

The next big project on the horizon involves a very special recording with Celine Dion. This will be Celine’s FIRST in this particular jazz style.

The new MMG label is already a buzz. Our debut artists for the label will include a world-famous group and a brand new solo artist that is guaranteed to be a chart-topper.

:w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

OMGGGGGGGGGGGG

100% jazz album I told you she hasn't forgotten Summertime! This news is the best ever since "I Knew I Loved You". Céline will be the first artist ever to have a RNB and Rock influenced JAZZ album!!

Thank you ottisimo!!!!!!!!!!! :bye1:

I really hope Robert Wells will do a fine mysterios ballad, almost like the one he did with Sofia Källgren in the Swedish ESC entry competition some years ago.

Sofia has sung Céline's part in Beauty and the Beast and also the voice for Belle in that movie. She does backing vocals on Ain't Gonna Look The Other Way. And she is Peer Astrom's girlfriend and they have a child together.

What about this jazz info, where can I find that?

Peace and love to all.

I just hope SHE is the one playing the piano on that track..;)

That wouldn't make sense.

Having Celine play on the piano on a song composed by Robert Wells would be an insult to him, because he is a world-class pianist and he ought to be the one to play it. Plus, I do not think that Celine would be competent to play a composition of such a strategic musician as Wells. Like I've said previously, her playing the first movement of "Moonlight Sonata" proves nothing because it's a beginner's level piece.

Don't be a daft egg

:mdr: :mdr: :mdr: I just love the English language! :giggle:

but I like One Heart and Miracle! :ermm: OH got some great 'light' songs and Miracle has some pure gems; My Precious One and In Some Small Way! And Brahms Lullaby finally got a place it deserves! not a x-mas album  Only TFTEISYF and TP I could have done without! -_-

But back to the subject... I do hope it's a diverse album, but still homogetic! Not BAM jazz song, then BAM power ballad, BAM rock song... you get my drift... I want an album more like Celine Dion, or D'Elles, D'Eux... where all the songs fit!

OMG I read homophobic album, Dejvej!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let Céline recod one yes!!!!

Anyway there won't ever be a homophobic album in English. There never has been this far apart from Miracle which she mentioned herself as the only concept album in English.
