I think it's a great idea if Celine went to China because it is the untapped market that has the potential of her getting EXPLODING album sales. There is a 4 times bigger market in China than the USA and to not take advantage of that is crazy Go Celine, I hope China loves her and buys her new english album and make the worldwide sales the highest she's ever had!

Actually China CD market is not that big. The best selling album in Chinese could sell 1 million the most. And the CD price is much cheaper here than in the US. So China is never a big market of selling music. But some other markets about Music could sell damn lot. For example, a popular ringtone could selling 10 million times easily. And concert tickets price here are not any cheaper than in the US. So tour to China could get as much money as in other countries. Get a lot money from China is possible, but not by selling CD. Oh, and Celine is known as the Titanic Queen Diva in China. One stupid thing is I can't find any Celine ringtone to download. If SONY can add MHWGO and Celine's new single... as ringtone for mobile phone. I bet it could sell a lot with proper promotion.

Really? I guess you guys have a lot of pirate CDs.... Like in Romania too. How could she know people would pay to see her live, even if they prefer to have her music for free?

but the fact remains the same - artists from the west r not selling alot of copies there usually , this days most big artists skip this huge market cause obviously it's almost impossible to penetrate it

yes china is a huge market but i think they r more into local stuff there not to mention all the censorship going on...

Censorship would never be applied to Celine songs, cause her songs are about love and love only. But britney, Madonna... and many hip-pop songs are cencored quite often. But I'm very glad they did. Actually I hope they could forbid all those crap songs.

 

i agree on that . they can censore britney and all her bimbo friends as much as they want to .

honestly i have moral issues with censoring stuff - whether it's tv , movies or music ...however when it comes to bad music - the moral dilemma is not relevant

Concert market is completely different to the CD market in China. There're many expensive high profile concerts in China. And most of them could sell out quite fast. It's not only the fans would buy the tickets. There're many big corps would buy tickets too. We had the most insane tickets price in China before. For example Pavarotti, Carreras, Domingo's concert in the Forbidden City tickets price are USD $250-$2500. Even Sarah Brightman, Andrea Beccelli's concert tickets price are about USD $50-$500. Whitney Houston's concert in 2004 maybe is one of the cheapest for a international star. It's still USD $30-$300. And all the concerts could sell out easily.

USD $50-$500 is a reasonable price for a huge star like Celine. Although it's about one month salary here. But there're enough potential tickets buyer to buy all the tickets in one day. Just remember there're many many rich people in China too. Cause even only 1% are rich, we still have 14 million millionaires.

BTW, maybe the worst selling concert by a international star in China was Mariah's concert in Shanghai in 2003. It was a huge disaster to the scalpers. And her concert in Hongkong last year was even cancelled due to they can't sell out the tickets.

Here's a rough translation of the Chinese hostess blog:

I went to watch pop diva Celine Dion's "A New Day..." show last night at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, United States. And I interviewed her after the show.

 

This is an unbelieveable amazing show. Just think about it, 5 days a week for the past 4.5 years, same show in the same theater. This is such a tremendous challenge to body and will. She needs to perform with passion and make it fresh everyday. She has to please 4,100 audience everyday. This is hardly possible! Celine said she could be so passionate after almost 5 years, cause it's the love and passion grow out from her heart everyday. "It's like kiss the one you loved. When you have love inside of your heart, every kiss would give you fresh feeling."

 

To accomplish the show everyday, she formularized her life. "I'm very seriously. It needs a lot discipline. Of course my husband and my six years old son stabilized my life too. Everyone think I'm going upstairs step by step. But actually I'm going done step by step to search my root in these years."

 

In the past ten years, her husband had cancer, artificial insemination and many crucifixions. Celine believes she had found her root. So she can grow happily now.

 

In my interview, she mentioned for the first time she would come to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to make concerts in next April. Although her assistants reminded her it's not time to announce it officially yet. She still can't help telling like a child:" I must tell! I can't wait! I'm over excited whenever I think about it !"

 

 

Interview such a passionate and pure person like her is a pleasure. A big surprise to both of us is we were born at the same day, same year. Life is magical. We made a promise we'll celebrate our 40th birthday together next year. "40 years old. We're just ready to begin."

we spoke to Michel and we were talking and saying we came from the netherlands, then he said... oh we'll be there next year!!! we said WHAT WHERE WHEN!! then he kinda jumped back lol and said we must look at the official site... BUT THIS SUNDAY so TODAY there is a meeting about the whole tour and everything will be comfirmed at this meeting, so hopefully within a month we'll get a pressrelease about the tour next year! but you can be 100% sure that there will be a european tour! and she'll probably will be at the Amsterdam Arena for at least one night!!!

i guess they lost their minds - if they think they'll sell out her shows with this prices they r wrong .

celine will turn herself into a singer for the rich ones - ordinary people wont spend so much money , and even if some will - it's just not fair

i know there r other acts who charge even more , but celine is not like the others - yes it's all about the money and celine doesnt have anything to do with it but i'm sure rene does - celine doesnt really understand all of those issues , she said so herself . if she is the people's singer like she said for so many years - they have to lower the price ....they can still earn alot of money but also not forgeting where they came from....

 

alot of fans couldnt pay for her vegas show due to the fly tickets , hotels ....it would be really sad if her fans wont be able to see her eventho she is in their countries because they cant pay so much - i hope for better news atleast for the other countries

Madonna charges $350 for Orch seats. I expect Celine to charge something similar. I mean my Josh Groban tickets were $100 and he's not nearly as huge as Celine. Concert ticket prices are getting ridiculous....its really unfortunate. I was hoping they'd be similar or even a little less then the AND tickets, but I'm not suprised by all of this news.

As I understand, these are prices from a reseller, right? So I'm sure it can be much cheaper for official sites. I know reseller for AND sold tickets for thousands of dollars.
