This album is a concept project in that all the song lyrics have been written by female writers from France and Quebec. The themes throughout this album are all related to the 'woman'. Many of Celine's long-time friends and collaborators, including Jean-Jacques Goldman, participated in this project. Although Goldman did not write any of the songs for this album, he supervised the project and arranged the song lyrics. That is the description that Amazon gives for the "digi-pak" version. Does anyone know if the DVD (PAL/Region 0) will play in the US? I know some DVDs are coded and will only play in certain areas and not on other dvds. Amazon lists the "Digi-Pak" version at $22.99 and the "Collectors" edition at $39.99, so it is really worth $17 just to have the postcards or is there something else included that I don't know about?? A "concept project that celebrates womanhood," according to Dion's website, the 13-song CD features lyrics written by prominent women writers from France and Quebec: Francoise Dorin, Christine Orban, Nina Bouraoui, Marie Laberge, Lise Payette, Denise Bombardier, Nathalie Nechtschein, Jovette Alice Bernier, Janette Bertrand and George Sand. Long-time friend and collaborator Jean-Jacques Goldman produced the album, more than half of which was recorded in December at Montreal's Piccolo Studios. The album's first single, Et s'il n'en restait qu'une (je serais celle-la), was released for radio play on Valentine's day in Canada, France, Switzerland and Belgium. It was released commercially on April 13, opening at No. 1 on the French singles chart. The second single, Immensite, was sent to radio last month. D'elles will be released in three formats: a regular CD; a double digipack, including a CD and a making-of DVD with personal notes from Dion; and a collector's edition, including the CD, DVD, notes and postcards. Dion is scheduled to release a new English-language album in the fall.
