Celine's version was, by comparison, utterly lame. The larger point is that Renee put her own personal stamp on that song. The vocal gymnastics she employed were not written by David Foster. That was all Renee. She's a stylist in her own right. Foster was wise to let her show the world what she can do with a song. So Celine comes along and attempts to clone Renee's song, nuance for nuance instead of putting her own personal touch on it, not once giving credit to Renee. In my book that's artistic plagiarism and Celine is guilty as sin in this case. Her songs have nice arrangements but her singing is so boring. She's like a female Michael Bublé, nice voice but no charisma. I know she's still young, so maybe she can improve that. Quote
