All I can say is that I'm astonished. :w00t:

Celine's been away for a while, we all missed her a lot, but in my opinion last night was the best moment of this year till now. The song is just perfect, it reveals her finest skills and shows that she's mature and extremely confident about herself. Her eyes showed us this. She knew she was on charge, as always she had the power of engaging everybody's attention, eyes and hearts, till the very last second, when she went away. Her outfit was also flawless, very sophisticated and sexy...I'm deeply in love with her, more than ever... :in_love:

And, Celine, I wanna be your mic next time you perform... :P

thanks johndu68 for the pics :flowers:

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 4 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Thanks to an all-star talent list headed by Celine Dion and a quarter of a million dedicated volunteers across the country, the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon set a record in contributions and pledges.

As MDA's 41st Telethon ended at 6 p.m. EDT today, the tote board showed an all-time high of $61,013,855 for the voluntary health organization's programs of research and services to benefit people with neuromuscular diseases.

"I'm deeply gratified by the generosity of the American public," MDA National Chairman Jerry Lewis said. "They never fail to come through for 'my kids' who have muscular dystrophy and other conditions that waste muscles and too often shorten lives."

Lewis, 80, returned to star in the Telethon despite a heart attack in June. He has never missed a Telethon.

This year's show was dedicated to longtime MDA President & CEO Robert Ross, who died in June.

Returning to "the entertainment capital of the world" after 12 years in Hollywood. The 211/2-hour live Telethon originated from the South Coast Hotel in Las Vegas and was broadcast nationwide and in Canada on the 190 stations in MDA's "Love Network."

Lewis announced Monday that the Telethon would return to the South Coast Hotel in 2007, soon to be renamed South Point Hotel.

America's best "sidekick" Ed McMahon returned as the Telethon's anchor, while Jann Carl of "Entertainment Tonight"; Tom Bergeron, host of "America's Funniest Videos" and "Dancing With the Stars"; popular talk show host Larry King; "General Hospital" star Kelly Monaco; Billy Gilman, award-winning singer; and comedians Norm Crosby and Bob Zany assisted Lewis as co- hosts.

This year's Telethon talent included appeals from the country's most popular actors, singers and TV personalities. Live and taped performances ranged from musical guests in country, pop, rock, gospel and variety acts. Some of Broadway's best casts were also showcased.

In addition to the tote board figure, which reflects pledges and donations, a number of MDA sponsors presented checks representing their year-round fund-raising efforts for MDA. Leading this group was a record contribution of $23.5 million from the International Association of Fire Fighters, the highest yearly contribution ever from any MDA sponsor.

Profiled and interviewed on the Telethon were several families living with neuromuscular diseases.

The Telethon drew international viewers via its live Webcast at http://www.mda.org through streaming media provided by RealNetworks.

"This remarkably successful effort will mean the world to the tens of thousands of individuals and families who are fighting neuromuscular diseases," Lewis said. "I'd like to thank everyone involved in making this really terrific show the best Telethon ever."

I'm so very proud of Jerry & Celine and all the others who participated in this event. Celine's performance was amazing and Jerry was his typical self. LOL Who knows, maybe with all the rave reviews of the song they'll put it into AND...? That would be a dream come true.

I'm very proud of our girl  she's no doubt the highlight of the show :in_love:

I watched the video once more, boy...she's got a lot of rhythm. How come no one mentioned how she mispronounced "orchestra" the first time (it was cute!) the way she carries herself is

Jerry chose Céline to be the first singer/entertainer speaks volumes. I like the fact he plugged her show :thumbsup2:

I watched some of the telethon and learned alittle about MD- 40 different types.

I couldn't believe how much $$ companies and individuals were donating-in the millions of US$, not just a few dollars :shocking: Harley Davidson, the bike company donated 10 million dollars alone!

I wouldn't doubt Céline donated a substantial amount of money as well :)

NOW IT'S OFFICIAL!!!! I WANT A JAZZ ALBUM BY CELINE!!!

RECORDED IN STUDIO WITH A LIVE BAND!!!

INCLUDING SONGS AS "SUMMERTIME" AND "Brule pas tes doigts (or whatever the name is...the one she sang @ Simplement Marnay)".......and maybe a tribute at next year's GRAMMYs....a Medley as they usually do...as the one made for Duke Ellington in which Natalie Cole sang.

IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!

WOW! I can't believe this! This makes us all SO MUCH MORE HUNGRY for more from this marvelous woman!

What does this show? She has a LOT in her to give! God bless her!

"People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."

P.S. I, too, think this might be added to the repertoire of "A New Day..." soon!  :w00t:

I would love this...it would make for a good replacement of Fever! We still are down on song since they took out Fever and At Last, only to add All The Way...hmmmmm it would do so well in the show!!!

I'm a twin mommy just like Celine!

Sophia and Anthony arrived on December 28, 2010

Yup! I know I'll get killed for this, BUT....I'd love it if they got rid of "I Wish" and put "Summertime" in its place. "I Wish" was good, but it's gotten a bit "old" in my opinion. Time for some NEW stuff! :D

I think it's rare for Céline to show off her REAL self. Some fans are highly sceptical and don't want her to evolve cuzz they think she isn't capable of doing these "unimaginable things". Yet once she proves that with only one single performance, all doubts disappear magically and her own fans truly experience the grandeur of her talent and the potential that is shimmering within her but it only shows on rare occasions like this. The Céline Dion we all know is capable of FAR more than "Falling Into You" - she's capable of transcending the music with her voice and that is exactly what she's done with this telethon performance.

Do her fans now see the underlying and at the same time undeniable potential of Céline Dion!? I think yes! First Simplement Marnay and now this which is somewhat of a presage of what's coming: The fluid skilfully engaged vocals surrounded by music that makes her soar and reach what noone outside of her fan base thought it was possible make a Céline Dion who is unsinkable. What a difference one stunning performance makes! I never ever had doubts she will surprise us positively cuzz she NEVER EVER ceases to amaze her fans and always gives her best. This was just a foretaste of what will come in the future! Like this famous song goes: "You Ain't Heard Nuttin' Yet!"! :w00t:

seb , u r probably under a SCF attack . u r exaggerating everything big time - celine gave a good performance but it's not something new in matters of the music world , jazz is not something new - norah jones sold more than 10 million copies from her debut album , michael buble is doing jazz , not to mention christina's new no 1 album....

while i agree that celine is singing much better than any of them , she is not doing anything "unimaginable" in terms of a new music style - she is NOT pink floyd or the beatles , she is a great vocalist - some would say the greatest but common she is not gonna change the face of music .
