Westlife to cover My Heart Will Go On

Apparently..according to an interview with Kian from Westlife, they will be covering one of Celine's songs for their upcoming album out in November..

 

Westlife’s Kian Egan has blasted the pop industry’s top songwriters-and says a lack of good new material is why his boyband’s next album will be made up of other artists’ hits.

 

Revealing details of the group’s Love Songs exclusively to The Goss, Kian told us: “We decided to do an album of cover versions. When we sat down and listened to all the new songs available, we didn’t like any of them.” Hardest to find were “good uptempo tunes” for Westlife to sing. Kian said: ”They’re just not coming in anymore. Nobody is writing good uptempo songs these days, especially for pop bands like us. That’s why you don’t hear any in the charts.”

 

Faced with this musical black hole, the four-man group then decided the best thing to do would be to raid their record collections.

Kian said: “We each did a list of our favourite songs and then we put all our lists together. I can tell you we got a few surprises.”

 

Surprises which include Bonny Goldsboro’s 1968 classic Honey (I miss you), which westlife producer Steve Mac is currently re-recording with the group in a London studio.

 

Insiders claim if they pull it off, Honey could be Westlife’s biggest hit ever. Kian said: ”At one stage it was the biggest selling record of all time. So it’s definitely the kind of popular song we should be covering.”

 

We can reveal the tracks on the album, due out in November, are some smoochy classics. They have done takes on Chicago’s ‘Hard To Say I’m Sorry’, Air Supply’s ‘All Out Of Love’ and Garth Brooks’ ‘The Dance’ aswell as tunes made famous by Celine Dion and Bryan Adams.

Would be funny to hear them singing " Because you loved me". Interesting to hear 2 different takes on that song.

I can't stand Westlife since the did that horrible Rat Pack tribute album. I really like the Rat Pack, but those covers were pure nightmares.

I hope it's Think Twice, not neccessarily 'cos i think they'll do it well but because of the oposite, having Westlife cover TT might remind people of that song and how successful Celine was before MHWGO, and radio's usually favour the originals than the covers. Sometimes when an artist covers, radio's start playing the original...years after neglecting it!

I love Westlife. They've done some very awesome covers of some classic songs. But I'm kinda wondering how "My Heart Will Go On" will sound... (if rumors were true)

 

I'm really excited to hear their rendition of "All Out of Love"

 

And I might even bet that the Bryan Adams tune they covered is "Everything I Do"

There are, Nikki French covered I Surrender. They even released that awful dance remix of the song as a single, though I don't know if it was successful. And that other one who covered Ain't Gonna Look The Other Way. I think she was from the UK too.

I think it's a bad idea to let Westlife cover any of Celine's songs. Look what they did to Against All Odds (well, most of the "honour" goes to Mariah of course) or You Raise Me Up. Now you can imagine what they would do to one of Celine's songs.

Actually, in "Against All Odds" - MARIAH was the one who ruined that song with her croaking and hoarse voice. Westlife did give it justice.

Here are the 7 Tracks from, 'The Love Album', that I already know:,

 

1) The Dance - an old Garth Brooks Song

 

2) All Out Of Love (Duet With Delta Goodrem) - She is an Australian - as are Air Supply, so I would be surprised if it isn't the old Air Supply Ballad.

 

3) Honey (I Miss You) - presumably the old Bobby Goldsboro Hit (Number 2 in the UK in both 1968, & 1975). It was actually just called 'Honey'.

 

4) Hard To Say I'm Sorry - the old Chicago Hit.

 

5) Total Eclipse Of The Heart - The old Bonnie Tyler Hit. Also a Number 5 Hit for Nicki French, in 1995, & Top 40 for Jan Wayne in 2003. So, it has already been a Hit 3 times!
