This album is a big highlit in her french career. To me its the best one, much better than D'eux. There not a song that I don't love in this album :blush:

 

What I missed is that 2 of my favourite tracks, En Attendant Ses Pas and L'abandon weren't shown in the making of DVD :down:

My vote goes to "En Attendant Ses Pas"; always loved it, and in what it says came true for me. :heart:

 

I even wrote a Spanish adaptation to it like 12 years ago, which I really enjoyed doing.

First of all, wonderful topic!

I voted for 'Tous les blues sont ecrits pour toi'. The album has many good songs but this is the one I can really 'feel'. It's the one I listen to when everything gets too much and I just want to let it all out.

Oh of course my all time favourite before "En attendant ses pas" was "Je crois toi". I still can remember the first time I listened to this album and this song, it totally haunted me :wub: It's like a "dark" song in her discography, something very rare on her, and that's probably why I love it because it has no other similar song to this. Only JJG can do that in an album :blush:

 

Also, I always thought that D'eux praisings were exaggerated, it was a great album and people freaked out, but when SSDA came I think JJG surpassed himself with these songs.

Yes, je crois toi...haunting, innocence, émotionnal purity, abandon. I still love d'eux the best. It was the first, no pretense, take it or leave it.

This is the first Celine album I discovered at 13 ....and I fell in love pour tour jours~ :) The whole album is a masterpiece and my number one...brings back memories of days and myself - both gone forever directly and indirectly... Edited by infiniti

Many great songs on this album. I voted for On Ne Change Pas, but I would also like to add the fantastic Zora Sourit, Papillon,En attendant ses pas, Abandon ( love that song), Terre. Sur Le Memme Bateau, it just does not have it all for me I have to say. There is something in that song that distracts me. It tries to be the french my heart will go on but it just is not that. It is not a bad song though, but sure not my favorite. I think this album is full with good songs and there are very less songs that I skip. I don't like the bluess song in the end, but that is just my personal taste. Edited by browseceline

Wow! 15th anniv. of this masterpiece?? can't believe it! time flies!

I know there's no comparision between her english and french careers but this is one of her best albums ever! Dunno why but french songs are more meaningful than the english ones, maybe because of the language? :wub:

well whatever it takes, songwriters did a great job!

Even when it's a succesful album, it includes underrated songs like L'abandon, Zora sourit or Je crois toi.

On the other hand we have -----> Dans un autre monde!! lol this song has rhythm but dunno why it has become a classic in her concerts now! and On ne change pas is a great option and a classic one (yeah, mi fave of this album ^_^ )

Céline and co.have the option to include Tous les blues..in concerts. she should do it -at least- every once in a while (it certainly sounds fantastic live) :blush:

I adore En Attendant Ses Pas . . beautiful poetry set to a gorgeous melody that works perfectly with the words -- add Celine's beautiful voice and emotional but undetstated delivery, and there is a masterpiece. . .this song captures a moment, a mood, so feeling, so incredibly beautifully. The first time I listened to it with an understanding of the French lyrics, it brought me to tears, because that feeling -- that mixture of hope and wistfulness, sadness and determination -- is captured so perfectly.

I voted that one too, i hope people didnt vote for it just cause theres some English in the song.

Its a song never talked abt.

I love that song. Its probably my favorite song from Celine.

But seripusly theres no weak song in that album. Its her best french album ever, imo. It surpassed D'eux easily... Vocally and musically

I don't think so. I've read somewhere that JJG once tried to write a musical (both music & lyrics because, as far as I remember, he said he didn't want to just write music for someone else's words) but wasn't pleased with the result and 'Sur le meme bateau' is the only song he kept from it. Then, some time later, he gave it to Celine. This is probably the reason why it could sound a little out of place on the album but it surely doesn't attempt to copy MHWGO.

Honestly, I was susprised by the voting, too. I didn't know it was so popular with us, the fans. And I do hope it's not just for those few English lines. It's a wonderful song.

Yeah I guess its because its one of the few uptempo songs un the album and she had to include it in her concerts... But yes I think it needs a big rest, Dans un autre monde is probably the only song in this album which I skip lately, not because I don't like it but because I'm kind of tired of hearing it in all her concerts.

 

It also surprises me that they gave so much promotion to this song, when it was never officially a single, and when she usually tends to ignore the more uptempo songs in her albums in favour of the balldas and more slower songs. I'm amazed she has never performed En attendant ses pas or L'abandon live :mellow:

 

BTW L'abandon must be one of her most erotic french songs in her career, I just love it!! :P :in_love:

Why sadness? What the song means to you? I understand it has an air of determination, the girl seems to be waiting and waiting for the love of her life to come up someday, but I think she feels fine about that. Good things come to those who wait they say.

In October 2013 the album will celebrate the 15th anniversary.

 

 

Damn I can't believe it's 15 years already!! It would have been amazing if we got a 15th Anniversary edition too, like we got with D'Eux :wub2:

For me it's always been, and always will be, "On Ne Change Pas." What a beautiful song. I saw her perform it for the live in Paris during the Taking Chances World Tour and it was just beautiful. Can't wait to hear it live again in November. :)
