Maybe is it because they don't want their show to be compared with Céline's one, which we have to admit was a big brand new thing in the entertainment industry. So, automatically, as their show took/take place in the same place, people would start to compare... Even I. I am totally curious of the way they used the screen and the big stage.

Does anyone else love the Not.Com.Mercial album like me?? I think it's a masterpiece... so totally different from Believe and Living Proof...

 

Album History

The majority of not.com.mercial (pronounced not dot com dot mercial) was written by Cher in 1994 when she retreated to France. The song Born With A Hunger was written by Eikhardt, and Classified 1a is a newly-remixed version of her 1970 Sonny Bono-penned song. The folk/rock-themed album with some slow ballads was proposed to Warner UK when Cher signed with the company in early 1995. Rob Dickins, head of Warner, reportedly turned down the project as being "not commercial".

 

In 1999, Cher decided it was time to release the record as an exclusive for fans through her website and Artist Direct. not.com.mercial, which released no singles. Though no singles were released, the song "Born With the Hunger" has been featured on the international version of The Very Best of Cher.

 

None of the songs have ever been sung live and little information is known about the album itself, although Cher's liner notes explains a lot. The song "The Fall (Kurt's Blues)", co-written with Pat MacDonald of Timbuk3 and Bruce Roberts, is her tribute to rock singer Kurt Cobain, who committed suicide in 1994.

 

I love the fact that she has written and arranged the songs herself... it's too bad she hasn't done it more often...

 

I wish she'd make more music like this. the disco beats are great, but Cher is way more than that!! where is that new album!?!

In what will go down in Las Vegas history as the glitziest show to ever rock Las Vegas, superstar Cher announced today that she will end her three-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Feb. 5, 2011. The award-winning actress and singer will have performed approximately 200 shows during the course of her three years at The Colosseum that began May 6, 2008.

 

The extraordinary production, aptly titled Cher, is a high-energy, concert-style show that features the artist’s record-breaking hits, including “If I Could Turn Back Time” and “Believe.” With the Oscar and Grammy winner’s rock and roll attitude and theatrical affinity, the show treats guests to a look back through Cher’s iconic career, with vintage footage of rarely seen Sonny and Cher clips and a stage that alters its scenery for every song and mood.

 

Designed for the 4,300-seat Colosseum, Cher boasts the talents of choreographer and director Doriana Sanchez, who brings Cher’s vision to life with 16 dancers and aerialists, state-of-the-art video and special effects and ambitious set designs. Cher’s signature costumes were designed by world-renowned fashion icon Bob Mackie, a longtime favorite of Cher’s.

 

“Cher is an entertainment legend,” John Meglen, co-CEO and president of AEG Live/Concerts West, said in a statement. “We are delighted that she has called The Colosseum at Caesars Palace home for three years. We wish her luck in future endeavors and thank her and the cast and crew for their dedication.”

 

“With each performance as fresh and energetic as opening night, Cher continues to reign among the best of the city’s long roster of legendary talents,” said Gary Selesner, president of Caesars Palace. “Our guests won’t want to miss these grand finale performances.”

Initially recording her new song "Greatest Thing" as a solo track, Cher will now have it turned into a duet with Lady GaGa. The "Burlesque" songstress recently tweeted, "Can't wait till GaGa puts her Voice on 'The Greatest Thing' SHE WILL ROCK IT SO FKNG HARD!"

 

The "Greatest Thing" reportedly is a song the Mother Monster wrote a long ago but never used. The track is given to Cher as a material for her comeback album, and has been recorded by the 65-year-old singer with RedOne earlier this month.

 

At that time, Cher said the song is not a duet. However, she's completely open to the idea of hooking up with GaGa. "Who knows ? I Did Hold her 'Meat Purse' haha!" she recalled moment when she met the Mother Monster at 2010 MTV Video Music Awards last summer. "One can wish! It's one of her songs & she & Redone gave it to me 4 my cd !"

 

GaGa did answer Cher's tweets by revealing her own desire to collaborate with the music vet. "Maybe a remix duet for the gays? You truly are 'the greatest thing to me'," wrote the outspoken singer who is well known as an avid supporter for LGBT community.
