1Celine12 Posted March 5, 2006 at 12:58 AM Posted March 5, 2006 at 12:58 AM (edited) I am learning french from someone that we all know here. His username is nelemy. I am learning the basics of it before we actually begin to put sentences together. Maybe in a few short lessons I will be able to post in the french section. This is only when I have the courage to understand the language. I know I can understand the language, but it takes time. I will understand it in maybe 10-20 lessons if nelemy is up to teaching me that many lessons. I LOVE this language. Edited March 5, 2006 at 01:00 AM by 1Celine12 Quote
Clari Posted March 5, 2006 at 01:45 AM Posted March 5, 2006 at 01:45 AM Good for you. I LOVE French, I'm currently taking it in the University as a refresher. 1Celine12 Posted March 5, 2006 at 02:10 AM Author Posted March 5, 2006 at 02:10 AM That's good. The reason I wanted melemy to teach me french is because he noticed I like to talk about the french music of Céline and PMed me and asked if I was interested in the language and I said I was and we became fast e-mail buddies and I asked him if he could teach me the basics of the language and he said he would be glad to. 1Celine12 Posted March 5, 2006 at 03:01 AM Author Posted March 5, 2006 at 03:01 AM Maybe once I get through a bunch of lessons I can teach you what I have learned. If I do teach you, it's nice to have a notebook handy to write down the things I teach you. How Does that sound? Would you like it if I taught you what I know in a week or two? I would LOVE to help in any way I can. If you want to let me know, okay? Quote

Bon alors! Je peux pas attendre pour le jour quand tu peut t'ajouter à la grande famille de le quartier français!! Quote http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/7108/ziegfieldgirlbanner.jpg

I'm glad if you like learning French! I do my best in order to write important things quite clearly, without making it boring... LOLBut.... ... I thought you had understood I was a girl... LOOL In fact Bellamy, I'm trying to explain her some basis, explaining some sounds... When you learn a language, it's very important to talk (probably the MOST important thing), i'm ok... But you also need to learn things which aren't oral! Quote

LaFeeRailleuse Posted March 5, 2006 at 01:46 PM Posted March 5, 2006 at 01:46 PM your english is brilliant,Wow! Thank you! you could all learn a sentance a day and by the weekend you might be able to have a small conversation.I believe that one of the key thing to learn a language is to learn vocabulary... It can seem boring at first, but that's the best way to be able to chat with people! A few weeks ago, I spoke with American students who are in my university... It's so pleasant when you can have a whole conversation in a foreing language I adore that! And I agree with lamourpourCeline... If it's something you really want to do... then it's easier for you to succeed! Quote

VanMerlin Posted March 8, 2006 at 06:01 PM Posted March 8, 2006 at 06:01 PM Do you get a French channel on your TV or radio, or can you find one on the internet? That will help you immensely. It will give you the sound, the rhythm, and teach you how to not only pronounce the words, but to recognize them as well. You'll be lost for quite some time but will eventually be able to losely follow a conversation, or at least know the general topic. Get some French children's books from the library and start with those...learn the language from a child's level up. Get a GOOD French/English English/French dictionary, and there's a book out with thousands of verbs and how to conjugate them. Really important to know those verb conjugations!!! I can read French from a page rather well, but even still, listening to the TV is difficult. It still frustrates me that in Canada, they don't teach you how to SPEAK the language. Sure, you study all the written stuff, but that doesn't get you nearly as far as you might think. So, just remember that you need to hear it and speak it too. Get on those French Celine forum sections, talk up a storm, and pray that what you're saying makes sense! Besides, you've got people there to guide you now. Quote

1Celine12 Posted March 8, 2006 at 06:36 PM Author Posted March 8, 2006 at 06:36 PM The way to say yes is oui. That's how you say yes. I know a little bit of french. Quote
