jjlovescéline Posted March 14, 2006 at 04:23 PM Posted March 14, 2006 at 04:23 PM (edited) It all started in 1990 when I was working part time as a bartender and the DJ or the juke box would play, "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" and "If You Asked Me To." I loved these songs but I was in my early 30's and didn't buy albums anymore. Then, I fell in love with, "The Power of Love" and had to know who sang this awesome song! When a friend told me it was Céline Dion, I remember thinking, "Céline Dion...who the heck is she? I've never heard of her before." So, I bought her album, "The Colour of My Love" and soon learned she was the same artist that sang WDMYBN and IYAMT so I rushed out and bought her first two English albums, "Unison" and "Céline Dion". I've been buying her albums, videos, DVD's, books, etc. ever since. I have also recorded just about every TV appearance. Then, about five years ago I started buying her French albums and DVD's too because I can't get enough of listening to THAT VOICE! I don't care I can't speak the French language and don't understand a word she is singing, I am thrilled to be able to hear THAT VOICE in other melodies. The first time I had the opportunity to see Céline live was in 1998! When she started her Vegas stint, I thought, "What an excellent idea! I can get excellent seats without standing in a long line." I've seen her Vegas show three times (once in 2003 and twice in 2005.) Finances limit me to seeing her more often Not only do I love Céline's voice, but I admire her deep love and devotion she has for her husband, son, family, and her fans. I love that she puts family first and doesn't get into the Hollywood scene. Céline is a geniunely nice person. I believe Oprah said it best when she said to Céline, "You make me proud to spell my name, W-O-M-A-N"! Now for some trivia . . . did you know that, "River Deep Mountain High", from the "Falling Into You" album, was first recorded in 1966 by Ike and Tina Turner? Neil Diamond, among others, have also recorded this song. But, of course, Céline's version is the best! JJ Edited March 14, 2006 at 04:25 PM by jjlovescéline Quote
azlan Posted March 14, 2006 at 04:28 PM Posted March 14, 2006 at 04:28 PM I have been Celine fan since her first English album " Unison". When first time I heard "Where does my heart beat now" on the radio I was in shocked for her powerful voice and asked my bestfriend who is the singer and wanted to buy her album. Until now I still made collection for all her singles . Quote
streep101 Posted March 14, 2006 at 04:41 PM Posted March 14, 2006 at 04:41 PM Yes...I, too, have been a fan since I saw the video of "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" on MTV. I can't even imagine her on MTV now. But I loved that video then ( and still do). I remember when "My Heart Will Go On" came out, and all these young people were so impressed with this new artist. And then the same thing happened with "I Drove All Night." I kept thinking: She's not NEW. It's just funny when you know her music from the start. But I think its fantastic that she is still adding newer and younger fans. I don't think many people can do that. I hope she always has that teenage fan base (even though she is not played on MTV). Being fan of Celine it's the most normal thing for me to buy an album whatever language she sings in. There are still some fans that are like "maybe I'll buy D'eux in the future" I don't understand french either (well I do a little bit).. but one of my first 3 Celine albums was french (10 years ago).. and I love them equaly..But I understand that it might be a matter of money or preferences Quote

augusto Posted March 16, 2006 at 10:35 PM Posted March 16, 2006 at 10:35 PM I'm a Celine fan since 1996 with Falling into you. This was her song that I heard for the first time. In that time, there was a tv channel in Brazil that showed clips during saturdays and when I turned on the tv, I just saw the last part of Falling into you, when Celine meets a guy in the top of the mountain. But that song touched me in a way that I could not forget it! Both, voice and music, it was very special. I know that time I was really decided to follow her carreer... And, my first CD of all (cd's was only available in Brazil in the middle of '90) was Let's talk about love. I had a tape of Falling into you! That is it! 10 years of Celine Dion, and I'm just 20... Etpuisunjour Posted March 17, 2006 at 11:54 PM Posted March 17, 2006 at 11:54 PM I bought my first Céline cassette when I heard Because You Loved Me in "Up Close & Personal". Since I always loved French, I also discovered at the same time that she sang French and bought D'Eux as well. For that Christmas I got Céline Dion and The Colour of My Love. I was shocked to find out that some of my favorite songs over the years had been Céline! When I learned that, I became a fanatic, buying every album I could. I paid $80 for the La Voix du Bon Dieu record, and it was used and in not so great condition. I've since mellowed on buying anything that has a Céline song on it, but I still buy all of her new albums, French and English. And my parents and I are planning to go see Céline together this year, at some point. Quote "The only power I have - the only power any of us have - is to be who we are." Jacen Solo, "Traitor"
beautyroses Posted March 31, 2006 at 05:48 AM Posted March 31, 2006 at 05:48 AM the first song i heard from celine was to love you more, and the first album was falling into you in 1996.but that time only i loved her vioce and songs.when my brother brought me ACDS video in 2001 ,it was the first time i saw celine and from that time i became a great fan. i am blessed for having celine Quote http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac137/Venus_1982/new1.jpgAngel of My World[/i]
lnde3 Posted March 31, 2006 at 12:12 PM Posted March 31, 2006 at 12:12 PM I am a fan since 1988 when she won the Eurovision song contest for my country. But I knew her and liked her before that. disadiva Posted April 14, 2006 at 08:23 PM Posted April 14, 2006 at 08:23 PM This year will be 10 years since I've discovered Céline. I was 12 years old and my first real album that I ever bought was "Falling into you"..Now, it's very common that people grow out of their passion for an artist, especially when they get involved in serious relationships, jobs etc.. Or that the artist changes and is not the same anymore.. But somehow I managed to be a fan for 10 years now, and I'm really proud of it. I think I even wrote down the date I bought my first cd.. That way I can eat a mini-cake and celebrate Ok.. enough of me and my 30 sec of fame. I've seen (on the internet) that older fans are disappearing and they're being replaced by new ones (nothing wrong with that ). I'd like to know for how long you've all been fans? Looking at your age it seems as if most of you are fans from 1999-2002??<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well i first heard of Celine when i was 10 yrs old a song she recorded called Ne Me Plaignez Pas was very popular here in Iceland and back then i didn´t know who she was i just regonized the song and this was in 1984. So i can say i´ve been her fan ever since because my mother both me her album when she wen´t to france in 1985 it was C´est Pour Vivre on vinyl. Quote http://i46.tinypic.com/2nvtcpl.jpg
