Has Céline ever been featured on The View in the past? How many songs did she do usually? I mean she never lipped anything in the US on such shows.

Céline was on the View once before when ANDHC came out. SHe sang the song which was lip synched. She rarely sings live nowadays on tv shows in the US.

 

When she was on David Letterman or more recently on Leno, the songs were usually lipped. Although, she sang"I'm Alive" on David Letterman a few yrs ago. The audience didn't look impressed when she tried to get them involved

But the last time she was on Leno, she not lipped. She sang In Some Small Way and was live. About the Miracle promo, I think she lipped only with Regis and Kelly because if I remember well she sang live with Oprah.

I think that when Celine was on the View in 2002 and sang ANDHC is sounded live. I just listened to the show again and if the song was lipped it was a bad recording because I thought her voice sounded a little off while she was singing.

ANDHC was definitely live on The View in 2002, you could tell that Celine had a cold or something. AFAIK, she sings 100% live on Letterman and Leno. Anyway, I'm hoping that mhwgo will be at least a partial live performance

As we told you on Monday, 'The View's week in Vegas will be capped tomorrow AM with an unusually in-depth interview and literally tear-jerking performance by Celine Dion. In advance of the broadcast, we can bring you these up close photos and tell you what's talked about as the show was taped at the beginning of the week, and we were there, of course! Like Joy, Celine talks about the importance of family as a priority, and that her son used to cry when she sang. "I go home every night," she says now, "and my son has a home, he has stability... I want him to sleep on the same pillow, I want him to open the fridge and have the milk ready." Celine talks about the possibility of adding another child to her family, the pleasures of living in Las Vegas, her book, and how she nearly turned down her signature hit 'My Heart Will Go On!'

 

 

Celine tells them, "I want people to know that I go through the same things as them, and I am not any different. We are normal people, and I just feel privileged to sing songs for them. People come to me and tell me that 'we got married to that song,' or 'I lost someone so dear to me and I listened to your song' and it is a privilege to not only sing for them but to have a relationship with them."

 

Celine's performance on the show moved the ladies so much that co-stars Barbara Walters and Meredith Viera could visibly be seen wiping tears from their eyes afterward! (see right) It is a broadcast you don't want to miss, so be sure to tune in ABC tomorrow at 11 AM (check your local listings, of course)...

 

 

uperstar singing sensation Celine Dion was front and center all day yesterday (Mon. Feb 20) at Caesars Palace, joining Barbara Walters and her 'View' co-stars for a rare lengthy interview and performance that was taped for broadcast on ABC this Friday morning (Feb 24), then teaming in the evening with Sir Elton John (for a first-time ever duet!) and comedy ace Jerry Seinfeld to raise $2.1 million for Harrah's employees still devastated from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita (we'll have many more great pics of Celine at 'The View' to share with you Thursday!)

 

Celine, husband Renee and son Renee Charles had been on family vacation at Disney World in Florida and on the Caribbean island of Antigua (one of my former addresses) but cut their trip short to make yesterday happen. At the same time, 'The View' vixens waged against ol' man weather to get their telecast transmitted.

 

 

The 3rd show of the day -- taped for broadcast Friday -- kicked off at 1:45 PM with the acrobatic dancers of Le Reve from the WYNN, and ended with the handsome half-dressed hunks of the 'Thunder From Down Under' male revue. In between, it was all Celine. She laughed that to protect her voice she normally doesn't talk before her evening shows, but yesterday, she was a non-stop gabfest on The View. "My vocal chords used to lead my life," she said on the show. "Now I am in control of my life, and I am talking all the time" -- as everyone will see when her extensive interview and performance is broadcast Friday (Feb. 24).

 

Then it was Celine's turn to stop talking and start singing, and after she'd won a standing ovation, you could actually see both Barbara and Meredith wiping tears from their eyes. Dion then raced off stage to start rehearsing for two first-time-ever duets with Sir Elton, her "roommate" in the Caesars Palace Colosseum Theater, along with comedian Jerry Seinfeld (who appears there when the other two are away). 

 

 

From my audience spot last night, I can honestly say the H.E.A.R.T. trio-tribute turned out to be a flawless and seamless coming together of three great talents who'd never worked together before. Jerry Seinfeld kicked off the night laughing "this is the most pisspoor lineup of talents I've ever worked with." Harrah's/Caesars CEO Gary Loveman (below with the stars) told the benefit audience that they'd already raised $4.5 million in other fundraising activities to help Hurricane Katrina and Rita affected Harrah's workers reclaim their lives. Celine thanked everybody for their generosity helping rebuild the lives and homes of so many people. And then came the moment the world of music fans had waited for: she and Elton held hands and hugged at his signature red piano, as he spoke to her in French. Then he translated it into English for the befuddled audience: "Can I have your red shoes after you've finished wearing them?" More seriously, he said he'd told her how great it was to sing with her and an honor to be on stage with such a gracious kind woman. He added, "This is legendary tonight. And we'll do it all over again next year if more money is still needed." They used video excerpts from their shows, and their separate bands even played beautifully together on the duets -- the first being Elton's "What Do I Do?" -- after which Celine had the house in hysterics when she told Elton she'd left her red shoes in his suite! The magical evening closed with a check presentation by the 3 stars to the hotel's top honcho, totaling $2.1 million. Celine shouted "Lets Rock" and balloons and confetti dropped over the audience as the stars wrapped up with Elton's "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting." A total megastar entertainment night, only in Vegas!

 

 

Tonight (Mon, Feb. 20) is the once-in-a-lifetime, one-of-a-kind performance by three megastars who in the 3 year history of their appearances at Caesars Palace's Colosseum have never all been in the same room together! Resident chanteuse Celine Dion is playing hostess to her co-stars Sir Elton John and Jerry Seinfeld in a joint fundraiser called the H.E.A.R.T benefit (Harrahs Entertainment Artists Rally Together) to raise money for the 9,000 casino employees still affected by the Gulf Coast hurricanes and floodings several months ago. When Sir Elton -– who just celebrated his 100th performance there -- is behind his 'red piano,' he’s been known to take some English humor-styled potshots about the French-Canadian songbird’s slim state. Sir Elton, who constantly battles his own weight problems, has actually called her Sir Lean because of her royal thin-ness, so it’ll be interesting to see if we get any onstage fireworks. I can reveal exclusively that they plan to surprise with a duet together for the first time ever, and their bands can both be on stage simultaneously if necessary. They’ll be rehearsing secretly today at 3 PM, right after Celine tapes her 'View' spot. One very very busy day for her!

Cause most of us don't think she lost the power of her voice. She has proved herself so many times recently. But some people only want to listen to some money note in ABM...

 

As Sir Elton John said:"She can sing anything. She can sing the best ballad in the world. She can sing classical stuff and she can sing soul and rock and roll..."

I know gogo cares for her but is just bitter cuzz she doesn't give shiiiite about her voice anymore. She could very well sing like she did earlier on - the way some liked it more - but the point is she decided otherwise and there won't be a come back of this voice. She is a new Céline with a new (in my opinion) better voice and what is most important - attitude.

believe me - sir elton will change his mind the minute he will find out celine is singing playback to all of her hard songs .

elton smashed madonna and others for using playback stating "real singers dont use playback" . i agree with him and for the record celine is using more playback this days than madonna.

ofcours celine is a much better singer but people pay to see celine's show because of her VOICE!! madonna is an icon - she is probably the number 1 performer in the world so people dont really care about her voice .

I don't know what Winforlife is talking about. Celine doesn't lipsych on US tv shows! She never did on The Tonight Show or Letterman. Always live whether she was feeling good or not. As for the View, well if she did lipsych, it's probably because the area isn't set up for a show outside...

 

I don't understand either why she sang MHWGO... Strange! But I'm thinking René doesn't want her to sing one of the latest songs like DWMF or another song from Miracle BECAUSE there is probably something NEW coming and doesn't want to confuse the public. By singing an old song, it's clear he wants to stay away from the last few singles... and start fresh SOON!!

 

I love it when Celine dresses more European like that, in the US. Just like when she was in Paris. She always looks so good and trendy in Europe while in the US she's more conservative (on stage anyway).

 

Hope there's more to come. Maybe a country album after that sexy ride on a horse...
