According to Flash on TQS last night, Celine sang MHWGO on The View. And unfortunately it's playback. I'm not sure if she sang other songs though.

No I hate to sound negative but why MHWGO and why the hell playback??? If it was live it could be wonderful perhaps adding a new touch to it, but playback?? It is one freaking song, why use playback? I understand if she was on The View 5 times a week singing 20 songs per day, then playback would be understandable, but one song??

 

I am so against playback, as you all might alreayd discovered. A singer should do just what it says - SING. Leave the rest to actors and wannabes.

 

It is sad since these TV appearences are the time where people who are non fans + fans who don't have the chanse to go to Vegas finally have a chanse to see her perform (on TV yes, but so so much better than nothing at all) and why then do it on playback? And why do a song we've all heard thousands of times, a song which even non fans have heard too many times. She's just rubbin' it in on those who grew tired of that track in '98.

 

Yes it was the track which made everyone tired of her. But yes it is also her biggest hit, and it's a monster hit, something she should be proud of. But please let the world rest from this song at least ten years after it's mega riot coz otherwise those who still love it wont love it much longer. This track needs to rest. And should only start to be performed on such public events in about ten years.(it's ok if she does it in her own concerts, it would be odd to leave out her nr 1 track there). This is a track on which she shall "fall back on" later in her carreer. If she keeps performing it now she wont have much to falll back on then cuz everyone will just sigh and roll their eyes then, even more than now.

 

Let My Heart Will Go On rest for at least a couple of years.

the people from the "view" wont ask her to play it in playback .

it's her decision and it was much easier cause she has the pre recorded version from the show - the people from the view have the technology to let her sing live and they wont say to an artist specialy in the league of celine dion what to do .

Maybe she did that because she was outside - and it's very dry outside and she didn't want to "damage" her voice. And it's Vegas.

Yea the show was pretaped, they taped all of the shows the first 3 days they were there for the whole week. The View is a live "talk show" similar to Oprah but with more girls. There are 5 women who do it and it is taped in NYC but they are in LV this week! I saw the show live when I was in NYC in Nov. and I got For Keeps on there cause they talked about it and gave it away!!! it was awesome!

Anybody watch the view this morning?? I of course did cuz I wanted to see if they would put on a "on the show tomorrow" thing - which i didn't see - although i missed the first 5 minutes. Anywayz...Celine got kinda a mention...

 

They were talking about how many lovers men and women in their 40s had had in their lifetime and Star made a comment like "Men count every one, women don't count them all, like the one after the Bobby Brown concert didn't count." and then later Marideth (sp??) goes to Barbra "How many lovers have you had?" so Barbra goes "How many did the men say?" and Marideth (sp??) goes "31.9" so Barbra answers "32.3, and 8 of them were after the Bobby Brown concert (laughter) and 10 of them were after seeing Celine!"

 

Haha - just thought that was kinda funny.

 

Anywayz...can't wait to see this. This is her first major interview after Larry King so I think that will most likely be brought up. Also - she looks HOT!! Thanks so much for the pics!!

I dunno but it sounded so pure to me I mean you know - the airy album version is really think-voiced, it seems so to me at least although I watched the Flash preview only once... Gonna watch it again.

 

EDIT: Just heard it again, it sounds like the album version to me, Bellamy. I may be wrong, tho...we will see tomorrow ahah

Well, I'm sure there is a reason that it is playback. Celine wants to give her fans the best she can, and I'm sure there is a good reason behind it. Like the fact that it is outside, and COLD! She can't sing all the time...plus every night! Gotta give the voice a break every now and then!

What I would love to see is if she can give new life to her classics song, especially My heart wil go on, something acoustic or something else. So maybe the people see the song in other perspective. I mean she can play with her own song, experiments with them, and show another side with a different interpretacion of her own classic songs.

 

And I don't like the playback thing either. I can understand her reasons but still don't like it. That's why I only download her duet songs with Elton and I'm alive, Love can move mountains too.

Gogo, you are too spiteful. Céline has been lipping for ages and no #ss is gonna care for that. She even has a lipped concert DVD. Can you help me and say from which year it is? Is it not from the year where she was oh so good vocally? HElp me the first two number were...19..

Well I was hoping she was going to sing Dance with My Father, but MHWGO is fine with me. I am just happy to see her on TV. And who cares if it is lipped. It makes perfect sense to me why it is. She is outside on a cold dry morning in Las Vegas. The song is being taped for a TV show so of course they need great sound and what better way to do that than to lip the song. Makes perfect sense...you get quality sound for the TV show. Plus this helps save Celine's voice for the show for which people pay lots of money for so why strain her vocal cords outside in dry cold Vegas.

as elton said many times - "i hate playback" and "i never sing in playback" he also mentioned that artists that use playback in their concerts should say so before...so people would deciede whether to come or not .

if elton in his age can sing live 100% and is voice is still amazing - celine can do it too atleast when she is doing TV shows .

I am so tired of the negative comments by so called fans on this forum. I have sang for years and every time I go to Vegas I can feel the dryness in my throat. It's horrible there. And unless you are Celine or somehow involved with the taping of the View or even with AND, we do not know exactly what goes on behind the scenes and why they did or didn't use playback. I'm sure they had there reasons. Yea and Elton John has had his share of voice problems. And he's definitely not a great singer, only a great performer.

elton is a GREAT singer and his voice sounds just the same since he is in vegas .

there is NO excuse singing in playback unless u r telling the people before and they can deciede whether to pay so much money for it or not .

and lets say she is singing all the hard songs in her show in playback to protect her voice - it's no excuse either - who told her to perform 5 nights a week? she could perform once a week and that way she could sing live .

and what is the excuse of singing in playback on TV shows - no excuse!! unless u r sick or something...and if celine is sick everytime she sings in playback , she is not a very healthy person , so - i feel the singers that use playback r cheating the people that come to see the concerts and i think that using pre recorded versions is even more sophisticated way to cheat the people .

Yea Elton John's voice sounds the same in Vegas....not good. After listening to him sing, it would destroyed anyone's taste for good music.
