Bellamy Posted February 24, 2006 at 07:57 PM Posted February 24, 2006 at 07:57 PM I was glad to see Celine on TV. And you people that are complaining....you would complain if she sang the song live or with playback. Or if she sang a different song, you would complain about why did she sing that song or she didn't sound good. Some people are never happy!<{POST_SNAPBACK}>You're right. she was also in disney world <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Yes, earlier in Florida with RC. Mozinha Posted February 24, 2006 at 09:30 PM Posted February 24, 2006 at 09:30 PM Some people here (who call themselves "fans") just need to GET A LIFE. If you don't like it and you're so unhappy about her, don't come here, quit being a "fan", do something better with your life. It's sad, really. If you don't like it them DON'T WATCH IT. If you love so much live music, go on stage and sing it yourself. I don't care if Celine lips the songs from now on everytime she goes on tv. I don't care if the interview is about the same things because this is HER LIFE and she can't be born again or go back in time and live again just because people want her to tell new things. I can't wait to watch this video, I can't wait to watch her lipped performance because she is my dear Celine and spending a few minutes watching her after such a long time with a few videos means a lot to me. LVCeline Posted February 24, 2006 at 09:44 PM Posted February 24, 2006 at 09:44 PM Being a fan isn't just putting blinders on and praising Celine for everything she does, and not seeing any fault. I don't think anyone has the right to tell someone they are not enough of a fan, because everyone likes Celine differently. She should not be lipping songs. She's doing it more frequently, and I feel cheated. If she's gotten so lazy that she cannot even get through one song without thinking her voice is going to give out, then she needs to stop singing and take a break again. She's gotten herself into such a long commitment, that her true abilities are falling by the wayside. She's getting way too comfortable, and it shows in her work. She's putting out material in between breaks, and it isn't the quality that we all know she's capable of. All those years building up her reputation, and now everyone thinks she putting out crappy material, and she's lipping most of her songs. I think it's ridiculous. I can understand in her show a few of the songs, but now she's resorted to lipping an album version of an 8 year old song on tv, then being praised for having a perfect voice? That's just plain insulting to me. Quote

Alex_Incognito Posted February 24, 2006 at 10:40 PM Posted February 24, 2006 at 10:40 PM (edited) What an excellent interview! Celine looked absolutely amazing, I was very proud of her! She looked hawt! As for lipping MHWGO, it's a shame they didn't re-record it for the show to make it not the vocal from 9 years ago (9 years ago, can you believe it!). It's funny how the camera was angled to help hide her using playback, smart on their behalf. PLUS...the playback is understandable, she needs to save her voice for her performance this evening...it makes sense and I'm sure she just wan't being lazy, I'm sure there's a reason. winforlife Posted February 24, 2006 at 10:56 PM Posted February 24, 2006 at 10:56 PM That is one of the reasons why I am not spending money to fly to LV to hear her lipping most of the songs. Her voice has changed for better or worse and I think a long hiatus will help with problems hitting some notes. My father has been singing for 30 yrs and there is noticeable difference in his voice-Céline isn't different. It's a natural process-hormonal and vocal chord changes, women's voices deepens She claims that technically she doesn't sing as well, but feels is a better singer with passion and other positive charactistics. Voice lessons would improve the quality of her voice, but I doubt she will entertain the idea. I agree with Cathy's statement that people pay dear money to hear an artist sing LIVE, not playback. I am still a big Céline fan,but to put her on a pedestal isn't realistic. She is human like the rest of us with flaws and wonderful attributes. tativale Posted February 24, 2006 at 10:59 PM Posted February 24, 2006 at 10:59 PM I'm tired of it........... WHatever was the reason .. it doesnt matter - the fact is that it was COLD outside, and it's dry and everybody here knows that the weather in Vegas and Celine's allergies don't match.. so please .... give up Many singers do playblack. If it is at a program or something it is fine, everyone KNOWS that she SINGS very WELL.. so period Ok. ashley43 Posted February 24, 2006 at 11:38 PM Posted February 24, 2006 at 11:38 PM I definitely see both sides to this. I understand why some people would be a little disappointed with the playback and Celine not singing live, but how much can one person do? I think people set such high expectations sometimes and forget that Celine is an extremely hard working person who gets tired/run down/just wants to save her voice like the rest of us. I am sure there are reasons as to why she must lipsync (in general) that we don't even realize...i think it's all part of the business. It's unrealistic to think that she could sing live for every performance, especially since she has such a trademark voice...that's alot of pressure for "perfection." I'm sure it's not because she is lazy or just doesn't care about her voice anymore, but for so many other logical reasons that we may never know. Personally, I like to keep it pretty simple: I enjoy Celine's music and love her voice and whatever she can do/put out there, I'm grateful for. More specifically: I just watched The View and I thought the interview was great. Celine was very genuine and funny. It was cute that her mom was there too! It's funny because when I found out that Celine was singing MHWGO, I was a little disappointed like alot of you guys since we hear it all the time....but once Celine began to perform (eventhough it was playback), I was still captivated by her, like I always am. She has this ability to draw you into her performance or song and I really respect that....haha maybe I sound a little crazy but I guess that's why I enjoy listening to Celine. Sorry that was so long...I don't post too often but when I do, I reaallly do...haha talk to you all soon! Quote
fred Posted February 25, 2006 at 01:48 AM Posted February 25, 2006 at 01:48 AM Are you people making fun of Céline? I don't think you should make fun of her. We should be glad that we got to see her do an interview. I didn't care if it was old stuff that we already know. I was happy to see her, and I EXPECT you guys to be glad also. Don't make fun of the person that has sold 175,000,000 albums worldwide.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I sure don't hope anyone in here makes fun of Céline. But it is understandable the furstation going on about the lipping issue.Yes indeed it was very generous of her to do this interview. I really do think so. She has no need what so ever of promoting herself. So please don't bash her for the interview. If the info was booring to some that is becasuse she was asked booring questions, and I didn't have much expectations on any controversial question with all those middle aged women as interviewers. I mean, I have a great feeling they only do what is "correct". I would have no problem making fun of a person who has sold 175 000 000 albums worldwide - but I won't make fun of the artist who is Céline Dion. Being a fan isn't just putting blinders on and praising Celine for everything she does, and not seeing any fault. I don't think anyone has the right to tell someone they are not enough of a fan, because everyone likes Celine differently. ...<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree. I am not the person who'll just say "whohoo it's great" when I wouldn't tuly feel so, therefore I choose not to. I choose to be honest, and I try to put my honesty in a way that it would be constructive. And about this lipping thing is not a thing I'll go "whohoo:ing" about. But I wont say it's because she's lazy or because she can't sing anymore - (I am honset) I know that's not the issue! Céline can sing! And I think she has gained a warmth now which was missing back in '96. Please don't ever misinterpret my posts and assuming I say she can't sing anymore - because I honestly think she is better than before (my prioritys when judging a voice and performance lies not in the long and high notes (those often ruins a song (if the come too often)) but in how it "feels" and how profound and soulful it sounds - and to me now Céline's voice feels more profound and soulful than ever. According to me her voice has improved. (And it pains when she won't sing with that wonderful "new" voice now when she has it. I am so so sure it would give a total new and a lot more soulful approach to this overplayed tune (MGWGO). That is for all her old sungs in general - I'd love to hear them with ner "new" voice. But of course this is a matter of taste. But I say let her sing as she does now. Let us who appreciate it have it. I mean all of you who loves her '96 voice has many recordings and live performances to go back to and rejoice about! And about the material being put out in between breaks, I don't think they hold the quality they do because of Céline's laziness - I think it is as simple as that the producers now respect her too much (she has gained so much status) that they might be afraid to offend her (but I think it would do the opposite, I think she'd appreciate honesty, but that's just me speculating) by asking too much. And once and for all: the lipping issue. - I don't think that she lipps so much now is because she is lazy or comfortable. I actually think that she feels a bit frigthened. And I get quite sad thinking about it. She's well aware that her voice has changed. And I think she is afraid of being judged, mocked or "blamed" for that. I think she's afraid people will start comparing the way she sounds now and the way she sounded back then. If only she'd knew how much we appreciate her new voice!! And people please about those high long notes - who cares!? Why can't you see it's about the soul in the performance, not how correct it is and how much the artist "show off". And like I said earlier, if you like them so much go listen to all the old material. Now that wasn't the shortest post. Take care /fred Quote Peace and love to all.
Adam868 Posted February 25, 2006 at 02:45 AM Posted February 25, 2006 at 02:45 AM Wow two things about that show on the View today... ONE: She looked AMAZING and had an awesome interview TWO: No doubt in my mind was she lyp sinching. I've never seen a more obvious lip sync. I mean that was the recording from back in 98, we're in 2006 now! And her voice was behind her words. I don't know why she would do this. I'm still her biggest fan, but I have no idea why she would lyp sinc. Quote
Koolan Posted February 25, 2006 at 03:01 AM Author Posted February 25, 2006 at 03:01 AM some of you need to relax and take a chill pill. imho, I don't think Celine is lazy cause she lipsynched the song. There could be other reasons we may never find out. Why blast her like that if you are only speculating. It's not like this is Celine's first time lipsynching. Get over it, move on switching gears....the woman have so much good things to say about Celine throughout the monologue and interview. I really enjoyed the interview even though there was nothing new that most of the fans don't already know. But, to the other non-casual fans out there, it's news to them. She was very funny and animated. I was hoping they'll show some video from the HEART concert and a little disappointed the show isn't 1 hour like they said. Let's just drop the lipsynching/mhwgo issue, we got your point..there's no piont of reiterating it. Quote Please support the forum by ordering through our Amazon.com referral link below. firebird Posted February 25, 2006 at 03:39 AM Posted February 25, 2006 at 03:39 AM (edited) Céline can sing! And I think she has gained a warmth now which was missing back in '96. Let us who appreciate it have it. I mean all of you who loves her '96 voice has many recordings and live performances to go back to and rejoice about!Well, I like both how she sang in 1996 because it was perfection, vocally and emotionally, and how she sings now, because like you said her voice has become warmer and more rounded up. I wouldn't say it is better, just different. Of course she doesn't have the power she used to have and it's obvious that her voice is more limited than before, which she could compensate with some excercises, but she compensates it with a new kind of vocal expression and the result is amazing, emotionally and vocally. And about the material being put out in between breaks, I don't think they hold the quality they do because of Céline's laziness - I think it is as simple as that the producers now respect her too much (she has gained so much status) that they might be afraid to offend her (but I think it would do the opposite, I think she'd appreciate honesty, but that's just me speculating) by asking too much.I think the problem are the people she is working with, of course - to stay with the 1996 comparison - when you get someone like Jim Steinman to write you a song you have much more possibilities to prove yourself vocally, lyrically, musically, and then when you work with someone like Veneruso who only writes boring put-me-to-sleep-songs what do you expect, there is not much room to put everything in she is capable of. And once and for all: the lipping issue. - I don't think that she lipps so much now is because she is lazy or comfortable. I actually think that she feels a bit frigthened. If only she'd knew how much we appreciate her new voice!!Yes, she should know that, that we appreciate her live voiceAnd what some people here don't understand is that lipsynch is faking. I mean, maybe there is something like a lipsynch-artist, but for a live singer and performer it's bad. Luckily, Céline does also still sing live, and I will certainly continue enjoying her singing live, and if other people enjoy her playbacking, I let them do it, but I won't, certainly not. Ted Posted February 25, 2006 at 05:11 AM Posted February 25, 2006 at 05:11 AM (edited) From the pictures I saw Celine was singing outside and Vegas air is too dry. That is why Celine sings all the humidifiers Vegas. I don't it would wise to sing live outside considering she has allergies and problems with asthma from time to time.Sometimes she can sing outside. NOT IN VEGAS. I bet doctors told her never to sing in Vegas unless there were plenty of humidfiers.Ted Edited February 25, 2006 at 05:12 AM by Ted Quote http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46/tedxyz/Untitled-TrueColor-02.jpg
stevethefan Posted February 25, 2006 at 05:59 AM Posted February 25, 2006 at 05:59 AM I was very excited when I heard that Celine would be on The View. The interview was great although I was hoping she would have been on for another segment.Of course I, like everyone else, wished she had sang live and with at least a different song but like it or not, most people know her for MHWGO so that's the standard issue requested song. I was really not suprised that she lipped synched. It's easier for TV and maybe she had to rest her voice now that's she back from vacation. Also, Las Vegas can be windy, and that would not sound good outside through microphones. It was just nice to see her on TV. The WORST part of the show was having to put up with those View hosts. Other than Barbara Walters that whole crew annoys me! But hey, it was worth it to get that Celine interview. Quote
