They should release this song on iTunes AND commercially = then this could mean a Top 50 debut on Billboard.

First of all, thanx a lot for the new infos. I believe that IBIY would be a hit single in Europe NOT USA . Sony is so idiot. It will be a flop for sure.

I seriously doubt that this will be a new single in the U.S. I'm sure you all remember last year and a few years back when we were supposed to have all these singles from Celine. YAI, BB, ISSW were all said to have supposed to have been singles, but none of them really were. In fact, to this very day I have never heard one of these songs on the radio. I even called one of our local AC radio stations and requested it. They said that they didn't have any of them. None of these songs made any real impact on the AC charts, so I doubt that a song that is half in French is going to make it on the radio in the U.S, especially since it's from a primarily French album. Even if it did make the radio stations, all of the people that like the song and would be interested in having it wouldn't go and buy ONCP, simply because it's in French. The only way I could see IBIY making an impact on the American radio stations, was if it was included on her rumored English CD that is supposedly coming out sometime this year. So, I personally don't see why everyone is so excited about it, because it most likey won't be a single considering the fact that there were supposed to be three singles from albums that were released in the past few years that never made it on the U.S. radio stations. I think that we should focus on possible singles that might be from her upcoming English CD, and if we are very lucky, then there might be a few good singles from it.

So, the songs you say didn't impact AC radio stations, actually hit AC radio stations. And they even made the annual Year End chart. So they have been played several times on AC radio stations.

I doubt they will print a CD single just for one store. Then, they say "Free CD single to ship separately within 2-3 weeks". It could mean that the CD single will be released later.

We already know inoficially Sony is planning a French album release for this fall. Nothing about an English CD so far.

How do we know this? And actually the thing about a new English album, isn't it too just assuming?

 

And the thing about realeasing an album in Oct, I don't see why honestly. Did ONCHP and Miracle go so well? Doesn't it all just comes down to good promo? Releasing an album in March, makes some time to release singles while the album is still "new" (three singles could be given out before the end of the year). If released in Oct. it turns "old" pretty soon being a "last years production" after just about 2-3 months. On the other hand it's all about releasing singles (example Shania Twain's Come On Over album and Whitney Houston's My Love Is Your Love, now that was some smart promo, many and good singles...).

 

One thing I don't get about Céline's albums is that an English album bacomes old as soon as a French one is out - why can't they release singles from both albums simultaneously? I mean there are alomst two markets there actually, coz are the French singles being released in the US?? And if they are... how many hits? Couldn't there be given out more singles from OH even though 1F&4T was released??

I hope the English version would be the single, not the French, as most people would listen to the French part like I did when I heard it last month and think "what the hell are they saying." If the French one is released, it would most certainly be a flop, however it if's the English version, it may have a chance. The one that I heard on the radio last month was the French version, which may not be a good sign. Most people here don't know French, so it doesn't make sense.

 

This single is from "Il Divo" according to what I've read, but they don't say "Il Divo and Celine Dion." That's not fair, she's as equal in this song as they are, and contributes a lot to it, so it should be called "Il Divo and Celine's" song, not just "Il Divo" and cutting Celine out like she had no part in it. I am glad however about one thing, if this single become a flop, it will be one less flop on Celine's list, since it's coming from Il Divo. That's one bright side to the whole thing. It would be "the flop from Il Divo" not "the new flop from Celine." Let's hope it's successful though, and that this will be the song like I mentioned in another post that will have non-Celine fans go " who is that she sounds good? O it's Celine!" and fans saying "That's our Celine!"

Fred, there is an inofficial word of mouth coming from our contact person saying that (despite the usual scheme English-French-English-French) there is a new French CD planned for the "rentree" (the European/French school's beginning in September). Also the TV show MAnu Katche will be working with Céline on, hints that there will be something in French this year. and we have this news now. 10 months before the release! LOL!

 

It is extremely wise of Sony not to release anything in English now, in my opinion. Céline is not able now to promote a CD all over the world which would mean it would fare very very below the expectations...

Because Epic / Sony doesn't release many CD single at all in the US anymore. CD singles have died over here, sadly. Which sucks for collectors.

 

Celine's last single in the US was "I DROVE ALL NIGHT / I KNOW WHAT LOVE IS" and it was released MONTHS after the song was shipped to radio stations, which didn't help it a bit!

 

The last CD single before that was THAT'S THE WAY IT IS / I WANT YOU TO NEED ME. AND BEFORE THAT I believe it was "I'm Your Angel" proceeded by "My Heart Will Go On."

 

So many good songs, and no singles. I wish they'd do it! So, us die-hard US fans were forced to pay double the price for a regualar single to get an imported copy.

In the first week of January IBIY has been added to one AC station and received 5 spins. LOL! Not really much but it's a good start...I wonder if it's the English or the French version.
