It depends on the hospital and on how big it is but there always administration departments such as purchse, communications, computers and tech support, as well as finance and marketing. Also, there are sometimes training centers or research centers as well, and of course working in an actual department (let's say as a secretary or an assistant of some sort) doesn't neccesary mean that you see patients and people in a bad condition. sometimes it's only administratory. When I started I was the secretary of the director of the trauma unit. my office was physically inside the ER and I never really saw patients (excapt for people walking around which are not critical patients). I only saw trauma cases when I went to the shock trauma room and looked for some action (coz i personally like it) but that was never part of my work. Phew, thank god for that I haven't been offered anything at all, I just been thinking about doing some volunteer works since i'm having so much trouble getting paid work. The hospital isn't the biggest one but it not that small. My understadning is that it is spread out into several building and I think one building is like ground and level 1 while the other is ground, level 1 and level 2.
