What's on your mind right now?

I would also like to ponder...and mabye some of you not from the US or from more rural areas of it can answer this...it seems to me that some people have never envountered a blind/disabled person in their lives. I get people who speak absolutely no English whatsoever who come up to me,g rab my cane or a body part...and start taking me where they think I want to go. I get that this is them compensating for their lack of verbal communication...but is that what they do in other parts of the world? do they not have spacial boundaries/preferences like we/I do or are they looser in other parts of the world? I mean, it's sooooooo confusing. But whoever started this topic of conversation....this is fun and very thought-provoking!

I would think that might indeed be a cultural thing. I mean, if you come to Finland, I assure you NO ONE is gonna do that to you. I think the spacial boundaries in here are even wider than in many other countries.. And then again in some other countries they might be a lot looser than in the US, as you stated yourself. Though of course it always depends on the person as well I think, but I'd say it's also a cultural thing. :)

Some of you might remember me, so HELLO!

It's been a while. I lost touch with almost everyone here... but that's what happens in life, you meet people but then they go their own ways and have a lot of new exciting things in life: work, family, studies...... and the same happened to me.

Even though I never post here anymore, and I very rarely visit this place (for example, where the heck is the Spam Café? , I remember most of the crazy and funny things that happened here in the past. And of course, all the great people that I met here (first and foremost, my special one).

Bellamy and Vic must be like, THANK GOD he never came back, as he right now would have 222222222 posts. :roflmao:

Dhruvie, I haven't talked to you in ages, but I talked to you-know-who, so I'm glad you're doing amazing.

Emily, you disappeared completely from the face of the Earth, and as I see in your profile, you haven't been here much.

I hope everyone is doing great. Talk to you soon, (or in another three-and-I-don't-know-how-much-more years).

Take care!!!!!!!!!!!!

And don't forget that  rocks!

Like Rea, we don't do that here either.

Well, it's hard for people outside of the United States to imagine that some Americans do not encounter foreigners at all, mostly due to the vastness of the country. I think, in general, Americans don't have an issue communicating with someone who is speaking with an accent of a romance or other European language, but there certainly is a problem for many in understanding Chinese people. Here at my university we have many, many Chinese students and they (naturally) must take courses in English. I've had a few in my French courses that struggle horrible with it.

The first day of this semester one came up to me and in very broken English told me that she was going to have trouble in my class because she doesn't speak English. I told her that was no problem as English isn't spoken in my classroom! That wasn't quite the answer she wanted! lol

Totally chipping is here, but I think Vic has the cutest accent ever. :giggle: I had to listen very carefully at the beginning to follow him, but you get use to it. I will never forget my last night in Las Vegas, I was walking around with him and we went up the stairs somewhere (can't remember where though), and he asked me something. For a short moment I thought to myself: What? Totally missed that. Then I realised what he said. We were only talking about it almost every night before Las Vegas, but only on gtalk, so I've never actually heard him say it, only read it. For me it was pretty funny hearing him actually say it. :lmao:

Edit: I'm still waiting for that btw, Vic. :P

Damn, fans are being BRUTAL. This place is like a vacuum of negatively lately, and all of the fault cannot be blamed on the fans.

Exactly, Alex. Count me in one of the negative fans. Heck, I'm pissed as hell cos when we compare music festivals, I'm comparing it to the amazing show the Beyonce gave at the pestigious Glastonbury Festival and look what Celine did at Jamaica. There just is no justification as to why she did that. For the first time ever in my life, I'm ashamed of being called a Celine fan. :(

And now I know why I usually don't bother posting in the Celine section anymore and stick to this thread....

Oohh dancing. I felt like going out, but it's so awkward going to dance alone. :( Ah well.

Got up at a decent time this morning, had a "healthy" breakfast and 2 hours later I'm starving again!!

I want to share my opinion in the Jamaica thread, but I'm honestly kind of scared...

Awh that's a shame. You should feel comfortable to post in any section. It's a shame how brutal and repetitive some people can be.
