Claudette Posted January 4, 2012 at 08:56 AM Posted January 4, 2012 at 08:56 AM I just almost fell off my chair. Listening to the radio and all of a sudden I hear a certain person from this forum's name and the words ''Las Vegas'', ''Celine'' and ''restraining order'' in the same sentence. Did I miss something? I could not hear if it is for real or only a joke because I turned the volume up to late. http://i993.photobucket.com/albums/af51/ClaudetteRobinson/esme.jpg

Claudette Posted January 4, 2012 at 09:31 AM Posted January 4, 2012 at 09:31 AM (edited) Found this on their website. But I can't get the whole podcast to play. I definitely heard another member's name and something about a restraining order (which I guess was probably a joke because if it was real we would have known). sfbaysinger Posted January 4, 2012 at 11:07 PM Posted January 4, 2012 at 11:07 PM Thanks everybody but unfortunately, it didn't work out. The man who was supposed to interview me took one good look at me and my cane, while holding an application in his hand, and said that the job requires a lot of writing and is not just purely phone work. He failed to tell me this yesterday, while I however, discolsed my disability. (angry) (puke)LOL if anyone wants to teach me the keys on the keyboard to make any of the evil/ugly/hateful/angry emoticons, go right ahead.I did decide though while I was still in the big city of Frisco, as we affectionately call it, to go get something to eat. So with the help of a few locals, I wound up at an outdoor table of a fine taquerilla in the city. I now have a food place I can go to whenever I am there. I also decided to buy a pass for the train while there, but that's when it got hard. People were trying to help, and San Francisco is nothing if not a tourist town. But help is Not when people grab my cane, or any body parts but for the sake of keeping it pleasant, I won't go there. Anyway, being blind sucks today and I hate about 90 percent of the seeing population. coming home to you all reminding me that not all seeing people are a*******, and of course another pleasant voice who is usually blasting from my speakers to greet me never hurts.I reeeeeeeeeeeeally hate it when people say, calm down, or, be happy. Like they know! I dare them to go one day in my shoes and then you can tell me those things. I Know it's always with the best of intentions, but sometimes that's just not enough and doesn't register in my brain in time. Some guy said to me while in line to buy my ticket home, that there is a gift in even blindness, that our senses are sharper and all that bullshit that I hear every day, even though I know it's true. I hate having to educate people who mean well but grab me and start veering me in one direction or another.I was thinking about it this way. Celine did My Love because she felt she had no time and that the artist took over the kid. But she chose that, I didn't. Sadly, , hers will end, mine won't. I have been doing this all my life and always will. Blind people are seen as burdens, curses, we're the kind of people, any disability seems to be, that parents pray God will not give their children! I'm very sorry if I sound like a complainer right now, I don't mean to be. I'm relieved to be home and happy you all listen to me/welcome me whatever is happening. I love you all! *Daniel Posted January 5, 2012 at 01:07 AM Posted January 5, 2012 at 01:07 AM (edited) Christina, I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you. For me, things can be hard as well, not only that I got low vision (it not so bad that I need a cane or anything like that, but I will never be able to drive) but I also got bad hearing as well. Don't give up, something will come along for you In other news, I can't wait to get my new phone Edited January 5, 2012 at 01:08 AM by *Daniel "Everything is pretty much possible if you believe in yourself." ~ Celine Dion

Belle Céline Posted January 5, 2012 at 02:55 AM Posted January 5, 2012 at 02:55 AM And why do I even bother trying to pick a movie I wanna see when my friends and I go to the movies? The same person always gets her way and I am stuck seeing something I don't wanna see “There’s nothing I love more than the romance of a night in the theater.”http://i39.tinypic.com/ws0due.png

Belle Céline Posted January 5, 2012 at 03:47 AM Posted January 5, 2012 at 03:47 AM My friend was like well it's her only weekend off she should get to pick the movie. So two of my friends get to see the movie they want and me and my other friend are stuck watching a movie we don't really wanna see. But the movie did slightly redeem itself because I found out Joely Richardson is in it, but odds are with my luck she's only going to have a small part and she will hardly be in it..... “There’s nothing I love more than the romance of a night in the theater.”http://i39.tinypic.com/ws0due.png
*Daniel Posted January 5, 2012 at 03:55 AM Posted January 5, 2012 at 03:55 AM Oh dear: http://dottech.org/tipsntricks/keeping-the...is-spains-sopa/ Remember SOPA and PIPA? Well it looks like Spain is getting in on the action, too. Yesterday the Spanish Government passed new legislation - dubbed Sinde Law after former Spanish culture minister Angeles Gonzalez-Sinde - where copyright and intellectual property right owners can report suspected infringing websites to a newly formed governmental commission. That commission then determines the merit of the complaint; if action should be taken against the company/individuals running the website in question and/or against the ISPs providing service to the website. If the commission decides there is merit, the complain is passed to a Spanish judge who then rules on whether the infringing website should be shutdown or not. The Spanish government aims to make this an expedited process, with a goal of 10 days per complaint. To me, on paper, this looks like a fairly good law. However, I question how well it will be implemented in reality. Ten days to determine the fate of a website? I mean for obvious infringing and obvious innocent websites ten days should be more than enough to determine yay or nay; but how about the websites that fall somewhere in the middle? Furthermore, do the websites being questioned get any say before the commission or is the commission force-fed whatever IP owners claim? Ten days doesn't seem long enough to give website owners time to prepare to defend themselves before the commission. Similarly, what types of actions can be taken against websites deemed to be infringers -- does it just depend on the mood of the judge? Also, is there any enforcement on foreign websites (i.e. non-Spanish websites)? This law is particularly interesting in Spain because there have been court cases in the past that have ruled some streaming websites are legal, such as Rojadirecta. Only time will tell how this plays out. "Everything is pretty much possible if you believe in yourself." ~ Celine Dion
