Well Johnny sold about 440.000 copies so far. And his album was out after Celine's one.

One thing is sure Céline is the best female selling artist ever in France.   .

But we can't compare with other artists such Hallyday or even Sardou or Goldman: they have been singing since the 60's.. of course they have sold more than Céline.
But if we take into account only the years from  the 90's .. Céline is the best selling artist in France for sure.

One thing I would like to add is that all along the year.; there are special offers and albums such Chimène Badi or Calogero are sold at only 9 euro ! When they are sold at this price, they climb on the chart and they return in the top 10 ! So they sells more.
Unfortunately, Céline has not the right music record company !   And her albums are sold at this price  afters years.
Sometimes after a few months (like Chimène) the album is sold at 9€

Only Johnny Hallyday(he had 50 more albums since 60's, and his first million seller album is in 1999 ) Michel Sardou(I don't know much about him, but he's very old), and Jean Jacques Goldman (Since his second album, all his studios albums obtain Diamond certification, 7 in a row at the moment !) had sold more than Celine.

Celine has potential to sell more than them all in few years.

ofcours she'll pass them...she is releasing albums faster than the speed of light and they r all much older than her + after vegas she'll have the time to travel more and promote herself constantly+she has english records too yayyyyyy

BTW - they didnt count ONCP yet which means celine is getting even closer...

Yes, but I don't think it has such a huge effect, because mainly the people who buy those albums are fans and they buy if for any price, and if you give away the copies Chimene sold already last year, she didn't sell a lot more than Céline this year

I think Johnny Hallyday is the one who release new albums in light speed.    Celine releases new albums much slower than him. and almost all her albums sell much more than his. I can't imagine how excited he was when he recieved his first diamond certification after so many years(he was 50 more years old at that time? ).

It's not outdated. It counts the charts until last week. It's maybe incomplete because they don't have all albums of all artists, even not all of Mylene's albums, but for the most recent albums it is very accurate and who cares about albums that were released ten years ago ?

Ok, maybe you're righy, maybe not. We can get certifications and peak positions from official sites but sales is always kept in secret.....for some reasons.
How do you know SSDA has sold 2 mln? And DMQS was 10 not 4?

back to the original topic - i'm glad ONCP is up to no 3 this week in france...the album sold more than 360 000 copies and i hope in 2 maybe 3 weeks we'll see this album passing the 500k mark .

we still dont know exactly how many copies celine sold in france this past week...we know she is up to no 3 and that for sure she sold more than 20 000 this week...so i would say that her total in france is right now even higher than 360k that i predicted few days ago...she already sold around 380-390k .

Even if she is up to no3 it doesn"t mean she sold more albums than last week!

she is staying in 3 on qubec - i'm a bit suprise with the tv special there i thought she'll be no 1 in qubec and will rise back to the top 10 in canada .

oh i forgot today that when ONCP was released in Taiwan the album went to #4 for it's first week and then slowly goes down the chart..
but i think it's really good for an French album to do this good in Taiwan.. cause i never see a French album do this good!!
