I’ve re-listened a few times and I’m just happy seeing her sing, sounding good , enjoying herself. I hope we see and more importantly hear more from her

It's a beautiful performance and I'm so happy that she finally felt comfortable enough to show us her 'real' voice again.
I don't think live shows are in the cards unfortunately (barring a medical breakthrough), but an album most definitely is. I'm confident that with the right song selection she can deliver a masterpiece.

P.S. Glad to see her connect to her Québécoise roots as well.

Well compared to the "Love Again" sessions which was the last time we saw her singing "live" it's night and day. She looks SO happy and content and you can see at the end of the song it was a kind of achievement for her. I'm proud of her.

Anyone expecting a female singer who is 57 years old and battling SPS to sound like she did in the 90's or 00's needs to find someone else to follow cos that person ain't ever coming back. The demands you place on her are not only crazy but unrealistic.

For me, I still see and hear a wonderful vocalist who is still enjoying singing, and so desperate to impress and return to the stage, and I am most certainly here for that.

AMEN! I think some of you need to lower their expectations about her voice and how it will sound after all these years. She is not getting any younger.

And to see the joy in her eyes, and even for a 'simple' video she gives all.
That's what I'm Loving the most!
I really hope for her that she will find a way to be on stage again and can give a show that last 1,5 hour.

If not, I'm here for videos like this, or tv specials where there is plenty of time.

Sorry but she sounds dreadful. The whole squeezing and artificial nasality that she said she was doing before but would no longer do going forward, she's doing it more than ever. And she doesn't seem to have great control of her voice. Honestly, she sounds at least as bad as 2017-2019, and I thought at least tone-wise she'd be back to her pleasant self.

That being said, it's hard to tell how much was a stylistic choice and how much is just her being limited—unfortunately, I think it tilts heavily towards the latter.

No wonder even "I'm Alive" was lipped. The way she sounds here, she can't sing her own songs.
Nasality in singing is a way to make high musical notes more comfortable to produce. Considering their condition, it may be that singing in that way feels more manageable for them.

I completely agree with you. We should all be happy that she's singing again. Let’s remember how unwell she was in the documentary. Every step, no matter how small, is truly something to celebrate. She could have stopped singing forever, but she’s resurfacing, and she’s singing. I believe there’s still a lot more Céline to come.

I have to say… I’ve been staying away from this forum as I said, I’d be back if something worthwhile with Celine happened and it did and here I am. Everyone who’s been part of this forum as long or longer than me knows I can be opinionated on what I think and I’m not the fan who sits back and stays quiet because we love Celine… so having said that, I really don’t know what many of you are saying…. I think Celine sounds good, is it ABM? No… like others said it’ll never be, I think Celine is fully capable based off what I’m hearing to record new music. Her tone and her voice is still there.. we don’t know how much rehearsing she even did, this was a HUGE moment forward and my only hope now is she shows us her pipes with Scott while at home in the studio, I wish they’d collaborate on some B sides from her albums over the years.

I’m hopeful.

Honestly, I think we need to stay optimistic right now — we’re seeing her sing again. In Love Again, she gave us four wonderful new songs, so why wouldn’t she do it again now that she seems so much better? In the D’eux documentary, they even said she was encouraged to sing some of the songs from that album a cappella. That alone is a clear sign that she’s doing so much better.

For me it’s hard to hear vocal range when she sings French.  But I’ve listened a few times now to the whole thing and honestly it sounds like Celine ; I don’t see any decline from what we previously heard and certainly better by leaps and bounds of the love again recording sessions.  Let’s not forget with SpS she may have the ability to go higher or more intense. But to avoid pushing it she uses control.  She seems so free and joyous.  I see no reason why some say a full show is not sustainable when all this is is a stripped down session with Scott lol.  This is very promising, in my opinion!

For me she sounded wonderful. As others have said she will never sounded like 90s Celine just for the fact she is 25-30 years older. Add to that SPS it is crazy to think she would sound the same. Doesn't mean still not good or maybe even better at times.

I am just happy for her to have come so far in what she has been through. Seeing her look so relieved/happy when she was done brought a tear to my eye. I am here for whatever she wants to give us with no expectations or demands.

I think she sounds good. Some parts are really good. Others are less convincing and nasal yeah, but I don’t mind. Sounds metallic when she uses a softer voice. But I’m so happy to hear her !

What a nice surprise! Posted Image

I think Celine sounds good. Better than during CWT, I'd say. I don't find her particularly nasal.

Also, she looks relaxed and happy!

The only negative thing I can say is that it took someone's death to make a video like that... as a tribute... while I'd believe such a performance was long overdue, and preferably with a song from Celine's catalogue

Hopefully, this means more is on its way as I agree with other users that they'd probably not invite Scott just for a tribute video (he doesn't live in LV, right?)

The other thing is she showed us what she can do at the Olympics last year. Sure may not have been”live” but she sounded amazing.  This recording is the opposite of that ; scaled back and acoustic I don’t know what some of you would of expected

I think there’s a lot of exaggeration going on in here right now … this honestly sounds good and promising. Just her and the piano. Some of the vocals in this remind me of Encore Un Soir album days. Watching her record love again vs this is night and day. There is little to no struggle, her breathing techniques seem great and her tone is very much still there.

POPULAR

Probably, she was asked to participate in honoring Serge Fiory, a musician and composer she admires deeply. She made the effort to present herself as she is now, and it was very touching. That’s all I needed from her. It was brave, and she showed howhumble she can be.

I think now that she’s done it and has hopefully conquered that fear it wouldn’t be a crime to get a Christmas song this December kinda like she did with”Winter Song” a few years ago and perhaps some anniversary rendition of her hits/b sides… from her home studio.., throw us a bone every now and again Celine! I think she sounds great.

Exactly to me she sounds very similar to how she sounded when she did the winter song. It’s almost identical the way she sings it here.

After watching this all I I can say is : you are still giving us apples. I can not believe how strong, determined and dedicated she is. It is great to see  how happy she is just to be singing. Is her voice the same as in the past ? Of course not, first of all she is older, and by the way she has a little thing called SPS.(being ironic of course) Two very very important aspects that can never ever be forgotten. Celine always amazes me, her ability to take very hard moments in her life, and just turn them into hope. Can't wait for whatever she can give us. And yes after watching this, as she says,"The best is yet to come"

It s so emotional for me to hear her. I can’t believe the impact of her voice once again. It s still here.

I was thinking another song that sounds like a Celine Dion song (while it s again a cover) But it s because it s her. Her tone. Her so specific vocal dynamic, the way she emphasis some syllabes, prononciation, vocal control. It s still so recognizable and specific. I miss her. I love  her as a chanteuse. So much.

It sounds like her voice from the past 10 years or so to me. Sounds fine.  Its clear that throat rasp/froggyness that started around 2007 is just part of aging I guess.

Id like to hear one of her classic songs though.  Not Im Alive or A New Day Has Come but something from 90s.

So the question is…

Is she still a little bit back, as she said last June.

Half back.

Three quarters back.

Or about to be back, back? :)

If this is what she is capable with her voice currently, count me in for a new album. All it takes is the right songs for her. To meet her where she is. Her voice is still fantastic even if it's limited. As some other people said, I would MUCH rather hear her singing songs in this range LIVE than hear her lip-sync songs from the 90s. She doesn't need to hit the note in "All By Myself" anymore to still be great.

Barbra Streisand just put out an album of new recordings at 83. She doesn't have near the range she used to but she can still sing. All they have to do is create songs that will make Celine's current voice shine.

And who said she can’t hit the high ABM note anymore? I think she might be able to, either way I’m happy with her attempt and voice. I don’t think there’s been a reason to sing a song note like ABM since she’s not onstage currently but I’m not exactly convinced that she CANT hit the note, I think she has some belting left in her.
